And all who have contributed obviously and MNHQ for allowing them to stay on AIBU in the face of some pressure.

These threads have been a welcome opportunity to interact with our fellow mums and discuss an issue that affects them and their children enormously.

In the spirit of democracy and freedom of speech these conversations are so important. Thank you all.

It is a very unpleasant thing to realise that this is where we are - it is the Upside Down BUT at least we know what we are dealing with and therefore have the opportunity to do something. I have done so much more in the last year than I have ever done about any cause and it makes me feel a bit better.

Me too. This is a grassroots women's rights movement, which seems strongest and most developed in the UK, but which is spreading quickly as women wake up to the threat posed to them, their mothers and their daughters. Every voice is important, and valuable, and every woman who is able to should read and watch and talk as much as they can about it all. Knowledge is power, and now we know what's going on, we can organise against it. 💪

@NotFabulousDarling

Yes, thank you, I am not very good at breaking into the conversation as I don't really know a lot (I hit peak trans with the JKR stuff before my NC) and am mostly in learning mode with it all, but seeing these threads make it in AIBU with such good points raised and discussed has made me feel like the discussion is open to everyone, even if you're not 100% up on every aspect of all this stuff.
hi Fabulous, I found it to be a long process to get your head around the issues fully.

I realised that it was because I still believed that the people in charge, the authorities, policy makers and decision makers had everyone's best interests at heart (party political arguments aside) and it was just a matter of balancing needs and requirements fairly. I was a bit of a fan of authority and rules (within reason obvs).

Now I understand, after a year of trying to work it out and research, that basic social contract seems to have broken down and there is no fairness or consideration of all needs. Disabled people, religious people and women's needs are all being sacrificed, often unthinkingly for the needs of one particular and very vocal and manipulative group.

I can no longer trust the police to treat me and my daughters fairly (in policy, it might be slightly better on the ground), the CPS, hospitals, our schools (I was told that if my daughter objected to changing with a boy in the room, she had to go elsewhere or stop being so unkind to him), our media inc. the BBC and Ofcom etc etc.

It is a very unpleasant thing to realise that this is where we are - it is the Upside Down BUT at least we know what we are dealing with and therefore have the opportunity to do something. I have done so much more in the last year than I have ever done about any cause and it makes me feel a bit better.

Let us just pray that MNHQ allow us to communicate on the main boards from time to time so we can raise the alarm for the other women that are all affected by this.

@Biscuitsanddoombar

Sadly the thread has now caught the eye of a certain poster & I suspect will now be derailed to hell
sorry, I have to confess that I have engaged with said poster but I hope that it will be helpful to the whole conversation.

I wondered what evidence can be produced to prove that transwomen are actually in greater danger in the men's toilets - more so than any other vulnerable group like teenagers or small camp men.

This is a genuine question - I tried to ecosia it (I'm off google since their interference in the GRA consultation) but all I get is a bazillion attacks BY transwomen. I did find one in Canada where a transwoman was apparently 'karate chopped' by a girl who objected to their presence in the ladies but nothing for the men's.

They can't claim press bias because we know which way that bias works....

I’ve had to hide it to stop wanting to beat my head against the wall 😆😆

MichelleofzeResistance · 31/01/2021 18:00

It does help when there are clear demonstrations that the women on FWR are not exaggerating any of this.

Floisme · 31/01/2021 17:57

Yes the thread might get derailed now, but I think that in itself will be very instructive to posters who aren't familiar with the tactic.

NotFabulousDarling · 31/01/2021 17:52

winterinmadeira · 31/01/2021 17:26

Completely agree - bravo!

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2021 17:23

Wow, I didn't realise there were now three threads! Epic. Well done, thank you and [strongarm emoji] [strongarm emoji] [crap at emojis]

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

PurpleHoodie · 31/01/2021 16:32

I'm just here for littlebrowns arm flexes Grin

JoodyBlue · 31/01/2021 16:25

The one about JKR had over 1500 votes - 95% were not in favour of her being called transphobic. I don't know how many votes these things usually get, but that felt like a lot.

AnyOldPrion · 31/01/2021 16:16

I was fascinated and heartened in equal measure by those threads. Normally on AIBU there’s lots of pushback and eye rolling, but this time there was very much more agreement, much of it by names I hadn’t come across. Surely a good sign, even if they have now been disappeared.

JoodyBlue · 31/01/2021 16:13

I had to stop reading, my head was hurting too much. Especially when the Katie Montgomery essay was introduced again. I think it is the 4th time I've tried to read it through to the end. I just can't get through it. I think it is the clown fish. Anyone had better luck (better concentration) than me?

CostaDelCovid · 31/01/2021 16:04

[quote jeaux90]@CostaDelCovid a thread which would probably usually be over here was posted in AIBU about Helen Stanilad being banned from Twitter for the Stanilad question.

Because of the traffic over on that section it's now on thread 3 and has gained a lot of attention and discussion which is brilliant to see.

It got moved over here, not sure why, then moved back.

Kudos to the OP definitely [/quote]
Thank you Thanks

MaudTheInvincible · 31/01/2021 16:01

Thread three is currently showing its highest percentage of votes for YANBU yet

Datun · 31/01/2021 15:56

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. Someone said two had been deleted, and I went to check and couldn't find them. It made sense because another thread I was on was deleted, with the message it broke guidelines.

But obviously not the three consecutive ones in that case. Very sorry to mislead 😳

HermioneWeasley · 31/01/2021 14:53

Applause!

DialSquare · 31/01/2021 14:53

I predict thread 3 filling up very soon too. Not going to say why but I think many regulars on here will know.

DialSquare · 31/01/2021 14:51

Thanks from me too.
I can still see all 3 threads.

BrassicaRabbit · 31/01/2021 14:45

That's one hell of a great result (91% / 9% right now with a whopping 866 votes).

I was expecting much worse, given that I'm guessing some kind of call to arms would have gone out? And given that we are still seeing the chilling effect of "no debate" in the public sphere.

Huge thanks to thewithesarehere

Floisme · 31/01/2021 14:33

I've found it quite thrilling to see the discussion taken out there. That goes for the TWAW arguments too - it'll be very interesting to see how they go down with a broader audience.

Thanks to everyone concerned.

Cagedbirdsinging · 31/01/2021 14:17

Placemarking

testingmitb · 31/01/2021 14:17

I've seen a couple of those threads on AIBU and thought well done to the poster for getting attention outside of FWR - so another well done from me. And if they have been deleted, well that says quite a bit doesn't it? Obviously AIBU is a very good place for these type of threads and get the attention they deserve. I will be looking out for and voting on similar threads.
