I would like to propose a motion of thanks to *thewithesarehere* for managing to get Three such illuminating and successful threads onto AIBU

And all who have contributed obviously and MNHQ for allowing them to stay on AIBU in the face of some pressure.

These threads have been a welcome opportunity to interact with our fellow mums and discuss an issue that affects them and their children enormously.

In the spirit of democracy and freedom of speech these conversations are so important. Thank you all.

It would be good if some of the attention seekers gave up their time on the thread and allowed women to about our issues without having to centre them as always. However the issues re now super clear for those new to it all. Sterling work from everyone.

Gncq · 01/02/2021 19:41

Oh right, thanks, a quick Google she's a cyclist, so these activists really are out to destroy women's sports aren't they.

Winesalot · 01/02/2021 19:25

Helen Staniland. Banned when she was targeted by TRAs. Some very prominent ones.

Gncq · 01/02/2021 19:09

What's the backstory to these threads?
Someone (else) was banned from Twitter? Who? Why now?

ArabellaScott · 01/02/2021 18:55

Yes, and a special thanks to our resident TRAs for helping with the object lesson.

Fernlake · 01/02/2021 18:45

Except this time 10 times more women are getting to see a problem.

Winesalot · 01/02/2021 18:25

It truly is same old same old.

gardenbird48 · 01/02/2021 18:11

sterling efforts there ladies Star Star Star.

Coming back here from aibu, I have a little bit of the feeling that I get on a big night out when it is all noisy and hot and you go into the toilets and it is all nice and cool and the thump of the music recedes into the background.

I haven't spent much time over there before and it is hectic!

Loving the idea of involving AIBU

Genius!

Winesalot · 01/02/2021 17:38

We are fighting a good fight.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 01/02/2021 17:25

I’ve been admiring your tireless work!

Winesalot · 01/02/2021 17:05

yeah, I need a break to do some work. At least the conversation inadvertently highlights just how misogynistic the posts are and how prone to hyperbole they have become (or always was).

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/02/2021 16:54

Lost the will to live in the face of the endless denial and whataboutery. Women wanting privacy and dignity in the face of endless male entitlement.

JoodyBlue · 01/02/2021 15:48

About 1600 votes in favour of women being able to talk across the 4 threads. Similar number on the JKR post question. Imagine many more lurkers.

gardenbird48 · 01/02/2021 14:29

@ArabellaScott

The derailers can also be useful, as said above. They do give us the chance to explain the issues clearly over and over. And there are always some questions that they are unable to answer. So what is NOT said is also very informative. Thanks, derailers, for keeping the threads riding high.
Absolutely, I have seen some sterling efforts - I still can’t shake the feeling that one may be a gc deep undercover and playing devil’s advocate??

@wordsinourmouths

As Friend of angryresister currently suspended, who was the original poster, she is astonished at the threads success on AIBU and wishes to convey her thanks to thewithes for getting threads 2 and 3 up so quickly when needed. And good for MN to get it out there. They haven’t resulted in meltdown and the statistic , currently 93% to 7% is worth noting. Brilliant women all.
Gosh, sorry, I didn’t realise that Angryresistor started the first thread - I hope the suspension doesn’t last too long.

A great move - it felt good to be allowed out in the open for a bit - I wonder if it will ever happen again?

We seem to be tag teaming also!

Langrycleg · 01/02/2021 12:43

Yes so many brilliant posters there and some respectfullish but .baffling arguments also. Kudos to the poster who told MN she didn’t want deletions.

JoodyBlue · 01/02/2021 12:12

@Langrycleg now taken the baton. It is pretty exhausting argument but so important.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 31/01/2021 20:38

thewithesarehere 👏👏👏👏🥃🥃🥃

Absolutely heroic effort by @thewithesarehere and many many others. I realise I have been tense for 3 days following that thread chain, but the issues are getting some air. Much needed after Nicola Sturgeon's antics this weekend.

nothingcomestonothing · 31/01/2021 19:33

So good to see some sunlight in the highest traffic area of MN! Huge thanks to the patient, thorough and erudite GC posters who have been toiling away on those 3 threads, just reading parts made me want to knock myself out so thank you for persisting Flowers

Floisme · 31/01/2021 19:23

Let us spare a thought for our monitors, who now face the prospect of having to police a second board.

CaraDuneRedux · 31/01/2021 19:17

@Biscuitsanddoombar

Sadly the thread has now caught the eye of a certain poster & I suspect will now be derailed to hell
Ah yes. Two of them tag-teaming.

Neither (I suspect) achieving, in terms of their effect on the lurkers, quite what they think they're achieving. Wink
