That inviting armed men into women’s spaces to ‘defend’ us is a batshit idea

The TRAs are jubilant because a person who is neither GC nor a feminist yet is constantly associated with these things has put up a lovely little video (since deleted) where she implores men who carry guns to start using women’s toilets to protect women from transwomen. I don’t even know where to start.

I know I will be shouted down because this person can do nothing wrong in so many peoples eyes, no matter what horrible stuff she comes out with. But this stuff basically pisses on all the hard work done to try to convince politicians and policy makers that this is a legitimate and important cause that is not based on hatred or violence.

The Head Girls still crawling round that CursedE are they? It's not quite what PP said though. And I've seen more than enough of CursedE's tweets to ignore anything they have to say. The Rosie Duffield one. Ugh, that one about women's toilets. Loads of them. I've also seen more than enough selfies of TRAs in women's toilets while carrying swords and other weaponry. But now we're supposed to pile on a woman for not actually saying what we're being told she did, which even if she did is in no way comparable to the threats we get. It's all political and purity shite and myself, I'm just not interested.

Here you, here is a link to a tweet that captured the relevant moment:

Be careful reading further as it is a TRA upload.

Ruth is also having a shot:

Absolutely nuts asking men with guns into toilets in the USA after what happened in Washington. I imagine she will get a visit on this one, and hope she films it!

What is more of a concern are the comments suggesting this was used to lobby the closed toilet consultation to show GC as extremists. Not helpful!

Winesalot · 30/01/2021 09:32

Hello Hamster!

It’s been a while. Thanks for posting the link.

anotherFOIrequester · 30/01/2021 09:23

I'm a pragmatist and prefer to try to get stuff done rather than obsess over political purity.
Watched it in context and PP's remarks are stupid and alarming.
Yes that CursedE is extremely nasty and clearly not a friend to women or someone who can be trusted. Unfortunately that doesn't mean that after attacking women 100,000 times falsely there isn't truth this time.

Deltoids1 · 30/01/2021 09:10

CursedE is not a friend of women. That’s all I’m going to say.

RozWatching · 30/01/2021 09:06

I'd be really sad if all her hard work was to be undermined by a few unscripted sentences.

Yes, me too, but it's entirely her own fault.
I agree with Delphinium, she could do with professional input, although in this case it shouldn't even have been necessary.
I'm only going by the transcript in the photo and I'm not going to watch a clip that has been edited by a malicious individual, but JFC what a stupid thing to say.

HamsterV2 · 30/01/2021 09:00

A poster with no history just happens to have a link to the archive that TRAs shared

I used to post under Hamster00 until I lost access to my old account.

FannyCann · 30/01/2021 08:51

A poster with no history just happens to have a link to the archive that TRAs shared. Hmm

HamsterV2 · 30/01/2021 08:25

The TRAs archived the video and its been shared via a 3rd party link gofile.io/d/k53HhC because they thought it would be removed. They were also calling for her to be investigated by the police and Prevent for extremeism and inciting violence.

NonnyMouse1337 · 30/01/2021 07:48

It does sound like a mad thing to say, and things don't always translate well when said sarcastically or off the cuff. But without an actual video to look at, I will reserve judgement until there's more information / clarification. I certainly wouldn't rely on carefully edited snippets from trans activists.

oldwomanwhoruns · 30/01/2021 07:27

@DaisiesandButtercups yes it was clearly unscripted.
As I say, it was just a few rambling sentences at the end of her livestream. She was clearly in a real hurry that day, she said so clearly at the beginning of the video, she had started the livestream early as she had to go and do stuff with her kids.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/01/2021 07:17

Or they pretend not to if it suits their purpose.

Oh yes.

DaisiesandButtercups · 30/01/2021 07:14

It is a problem I fear for the future that will have a negative impact on the freedom of women and girls and set the relationship between men and women back over a hundred years. I can well imagine that decent men will accompany women “in their care” into high risk spaces in order to protect their female relatives and friends. It is like something out of a Jane Austen novel but that is where we will likely be without single sex safe spaces for for women.

I do enjoy Posie but, if true, I find the gun comments ill judged. However as a pp said it could have been sarcasm. Guns are no joke imo and I wish for Americans the kind of gun control that we have in the UK. If you fear that anyone might have a gun I can understand why you might feel the need to own one to protect yourself and your family. I seem to remember I read somewhere that that logic is flawed but I can get why people might think that way.

I’m not sure if Posie totally ad libs what she does.

oldwomanwhoruns · 30/01/2021 07:10

I watched Posie's video. It was an unscripted Livestream, they are always a bit of a rant (or ramble) , I love them. But don't shoot the messenger, as she's the only one of us who is actually brave enough to put her head above the parapet!
Yes it was a bit (well, very) rambling, but her point was, to show how absurd the law was, NOT NOT to defend women at their toiletry.
The major part of that particular video was to show her supporters the latest feminist stickers and t-shirts. The 'let's show how absurd the law is' rant was a quick throw-away few words at the end.
I'd be really sad if all her hard work was to be undermined by a few unscripted sentences.

SunsetBeetch · 30/01/2021 06:55

@thinkingaboutLangCleg

Isn’t she very obviously being sarcastic? Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t ‘get’ sarcasm or irony.
Or they pretend not to if it suits their purpose.
SunsetBeetch · 30/01/2021 06:54

@exLtEveDallas

Anyone who stands by anything posted by CursedE or KilgoreSprout is a fucking idiot. More fool anyone who falls for it, you’ve just lost any sense of credibility- no matter who you are.
Yup.

NotBadConsidering · 30/01/2021 06:07

If that transcript in that photo is accurate, to me it reads that men may think they’re doing something useful and protective by carrying a gun, but it would be more useful to take an actual active approach to protecting women’s and girls’ spaces rather than carrying a gun for show and thinking you’re the big man. It’s not saying men who ‘carry’ should start using toilets, it’s saying men who ‘carry’ should realise they’re actually just standing by idle while all this is happening.

That’s how I read it anyway.

Socrates11 · 30/01/2021 05:04

I watched the clip and 'men who carry' was the expression used. Have to say that went right over my head at the time, as the point was more like, 'come on men get in the women's toilets & say you're women now', like doing the Man Friday stunt backwards...which doesn't really work in my mind but the gist was about showing up TRA ideology not 'protecting' women in bathrooms.

Delphinium20 · 30/01/2021 02:38

I saw the video. Yes, she said that. In another video she said problematic things about the attack at the US Capital as well. With all due respect, she needs professional guidance.

  1. Posie should consult with a PR/media professional. She's getting too big to make these mistakes. A simple run through of what her initial ideas are would have shot down the gun thing and would have alerted her to the in-depth facts of the Capital attack. This can be done immediately by any professional worth her salt.
  2. I thought her comments on surrogacy were powerful, sensitive and very persuasive. If she sticks to this type of commentary, she can have positive influence on women's rights.
  3. Whenever she wades into US politics/culture, it's obvious she could use some help. Guns here are no joke and we have out of control gun violence in this country. She also didn't understand that the FBI is charging attackers with insurrection and other crimes. This isn't a simple protest or activist stunt. It was a crime against our government. They threaten to hang Vice President Pence. His family was with him.
HollywoodTease · 30/01/2021 02:36

I didn't see the video. I did see that an apparently edited version had been shared by CursedE. Which says it all to me really.

I don't have any great love for Posie, I think she's done some great stuff and some really stupid stuff in the past. She gets her point across but she is a little too extreme in some of her views for me.

But I have even less love for this particular trans person and would be wary of taking anything they post at face value.

GrainneMhaol · 30/01/2021 01:58

I thought her comment was worrying, to put it mildly, and pandering to traditionalist (i.e. sexist) men and sexist gender roles.

This seems to be a transcript, posted by a supporter on twitter, but I only saw the video clip of the first bit.

ipodtherforipoor · 30/01/2021 01:20

Penises/peni with guns strikes drunk me As a very bad idea

ChestnutStuffing · 30/01/2021 01:12

This sounds like a case of someone mistaking the tone, or not understanding hyperbole or sarcasm. Which seems to be a common problem these days.

I seriously doubt she thinks random men with guns hanging out in bathrooms to protect women is really a workable solution.
