So another brand proves that they’re not keen on women having thoughts

Innocent (owned by hugely ethical company Coca Cola) have confirmed they don’t think women should have sex based rights (since they think Maggie’s views go against their values)

That is some hill to die on

StandWithYou · 02/02/2021 09:06

Can’t wait for James Kirkup’s column on this.

No more Innocent products in this house of 5. What patronising twaddle.

PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 09:03

I think they've been upfront and honest about whose money they don't want. Grin

Respect their wishes and don't dirty their hands with your filthy gender-critical lucre.

SirSamuelVimes · 02/02/2021 09:00

Well, they are free to say so. And I am free to not buy their products.

Quite.

Do. Not. Engage.

He had ten followers. I don't think his tweet would have taken off if they'd chosen not to respond at all. There was also the option of a wacky reply, which would have fitted with their branding.

The moment any company steps into this debate, it's losing some sales. The trigger-happy reactions don't convince me that they carefully gauge which stance will lose them the fewest before they tweet.

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/02/2021 10:31

'Id love to be in on tomorrow morning's zoom meeting...

You'd think by now someone would have started running training courses on this: how not to permanently fuck up your corporate image in one badly thought out tweet to a keyboard warrior. Who probably doesn't use your product anyway.

Because once the damage is done, there's no way back. This won't drop off their image the way it hasn't dropped off Floras or M&S, this will wander into the Daily Mail, this will still be being mentioned here in a few years time the way other companies are mentioned, it's going to follow them like a bad smell.

If they apologise, retract, enthusiastically pick a side and go for it, there's going to be a pissed off group who remember. One of which will try to cause hell for the company, and the other, with the actual spending power who are customers as opposed to those skiving off their homework, will just stop buying and talk to each other about why.

This is one of those issues that all companies everywhere by now should know: Do Not Touch With A Barge Pole.

McDuffy · 31/01/2021 21:11

I love dickwits as an insult Grin

teawamutu · 31/01/2021 21:07

It always goes away if you DON'T RESPOND in the first place.

These woke dickwits never learn.

DialSquare · 31/01/2021 20:49

They're probably hoping it will all go away if they hide!

HettieMillia · 31/01/2021 20:44

I just had a look and they haven't tweeted anything for a few days.

Maybe they're looking for a replacement to manage their social media 😉

AbsintheFriends · 31/01/2021 20:43

I'd love to be in on tomorrow morning's zoom meeting...

DialSquare · 31/01/2021 20:37

I just had a look and they haven't tweeted anything for a few days. In fact their last tweet was about 20 minutes after the offending one. Which is probably about the time when they saw the amount and type of responses!

McDuffy · 31/01/2021 19:49

I got four boxes of kids' smoothies a few weeks ago when they were on offer. They're just as happy with vimto for a weekend treat and way cheaper Smile

SusannaSpider · 31/01/2021 19:47

Flora is the only dairy free one I like and they make a fab plant based block. I do buySad but only when it's on offer. Vitalite tastes like axle grease.
I've cut Innocent loose though, we have a big jar full of Innocent fridge magnets, which tells you how much we buy.
I think the problem with companies like Innocent is that they want to appear all young, trendy and hip and that involves being painfully woke.

AfternoonToffee · 31/01/2021 18:51

Vitalite used to do the best tubs. Had good lids. Made a paper mache bowl from one many years ago.

I don't drink smoothies, but as others have said, just say nothing, keep out of it.

Beetlewing · 31/01/2021 18:38

@OvaHere

Why on earth don't they just ignore those tweets? There's no law that says they have to respond to every random that @'s them. Most of these brands certainly have no issue ignoring women after all.
I work in Social Media and this is exactly the line you should take. Do not get drawn into petty squabbles. Ignore and ignore. I'm wondering who on earth is doing the socials for Innocent?
PotholeParadies · 31/01/2021 18:21

Vitalite tastes better than Flora, imo, and they were vegan first.

Granose (is that still around?) and Pure were around before Vitalite, of course.

NotFabulousDarling · 31/01/2021 18:05

I was at the supermarket today. I took a long look at the smoothies after seeing the AIBU thread about Innocent. I decided to buy some fruit instead. Innocent Smoothies are missing one vital point: Flora is an essential food product (one brand amongst many) that it's hard to make a vegan version of at home. Innocent are a convenience. And one which I no longer wish to support.

Redsquareoctopus · 31/01/2021 17:08

@ArabellaScott note the word ‘trying’ Smile

I don’t think she had the capacity to understand someone else’s point of view or the ability to empathise with anyone who doesn’t follow ‘the rules’ to the letter.

She has admitted that she didn’t have any friends at school and from what I can see online, her business has failed, she then lost her job, her husband left, she’s on the local authority housing list. In addition, she is on Twitter all day and evenings so her relationships with her children must affected. She has invested all her anger into an identity.

I feel sorry Sad

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2021 14:23

If that's the case, Redsquare, then perhaps someone could let her know that slinging libel and insults at people isn't going to solve any of her problems.

PotholeParadies · 31/01/2021 13:45

HettieMillia that blog is fascinating. On a sidenote, from the snapshots, it seems she's been trying to popularise Prosecco Stormfront for a long time.

OvaHere Grin That is a delightful image. Poor things.

Redsquareoctopus · 31/01/2021 13:31

Personally, I think that MM has social communication difficulties and possibly some kind of personality disorder. I have been observing her behaviour and interactions for a few years and it’s becoming clearer and clearer. I am trying to use this knowledge to view her with compassion.

boatyardblues · 31/01/2021 13:02

@ProseccoStormfront2

I hate bloody prosecco, headache in a bottle.

Very accurate description.

Headache and heartburn
