So another brand proves that they’re not keen on women having thoughts

Thanks for linking to that OvaHere - far too close to home.

Their response seems to be getting lots of likes though.

Of course it is. The chance of joining in with some gleeful gynephobia is always welcomed by some on Twitter. You only have to read the comments to see exactly what bit is being enjoyed. Look at the focus of all the comments; it's all about the joy of seeing females put in their place and reminded that their rights, needs and feelings do not matter.

HermioneWeasley · 02/02/2021 12:19

Maggie is getting horrible comments on innocent’s Twitter feed. They absolutely incited this against an elderly disabled woman (not that she seems to give a fuck) .

Of course. It's a trope designed for Twitter virtue signalling. But Twitter likes are a funny thing. They don't often actually translate into anything meaningful in the real world.
PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 12:14

The Big Knit, let us remember, is in aid of AgeUK, formerly Age Concern.

Currently, Innocent's behaviour on twitter encouraging the condemnation of FlashMaggie has got one twitter user referencing Maggie's age and proudly boasting that he's looking forward to her death.

Well done, Innocent.

Their social media strategy of listening to the Twitter Police and demanding purity in all their follows is appalling. What's the endgame here Innocent? Calling everyone nasty?

Bye Innocent smoothies. We've been trying to ween the kids off their massive smoothie habit anyway but I kept buying them as kidded myself it was a good way to get some fruit into them. I knew they were full of sugar and were just identifying as a healthy drink.

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 12:00

Here's a free pattern, for anyone who wants to smother Innocent in some more twee knitted items: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/knit-dicks

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 11:58

That 'meet the knitters' is so fucking patronising in light of this statement.

Silly women got a bit cwoss? Silly women do the shopping in most households, you smug, condescending arses.

Conniethesensible · 02/02/2021 11:58

I don't think they care about the opinions here.

Interesting.

MichelleofzeResistance · 02/02/2021 11:25

I just don't get the amazing stupidity in not seeing their own hypocrisy and double standards and the irony of what they are saying. Who is this thick?!

But then having a look at their Twitter feed it appears to be being run by a twelve year old.

OvaHere · 02/02/2021 11:23

Yeah they can piss off with their misogyny and witch hunting. I manage the grocery budget in this house.

Really Innocent, you could have just ignored the tosser with 10 followers and not kicked up a shitstorm of smug maleness.

MichelleofzeResistance · 02/02/2021 11:14

We stand against discrimination.

Unless it's happening to females. Then we're fine with it.

We believe that everyone should be protected from discrimination.

But not females. That half of the human race can fuck off.

Our social media channels will be fair and inclusive

But not to females. Or to anyone caught sympathising with them.

It's on all of us to make sure everyone can live fair and happy lives.

Except females. Unfairness and unhappiness is fine for them. No one may even acknowledge that this unfairness and unhappiness happens and females may never be allowed to post about their experiences in case of making male people unhappy. Unfairness and unhappiness is a female thing and they shouldn't inflict it on others and rain on their happy illusions of equality.

Jesus wept.

Wildery · 02/02/2021 11:08

Misogynistic twee fuckwits. I won't be buying again.

PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 10:51

They can whistle if they think I'm knitting for them now, and I have downloaded their patterns before.

AbsintheFriends · 02/02/2021 10:49

Oh god, their snide, sniggering, self-congratulatory tone. 'The silly women got 'quite cross' about us telling them to shut the fuck up. They should know we're only interested in women when they're providing us with unpaid labour to give credibility to our fake social-conscience brand values. Get back to your knitting, women. If we want know what you think we'll get a man to tell us, thanks.'

HettieMillia · 02/02/2021 10:42

So everyone needs protecting apart from women. Women can fuck off if they think they have any right to their legal sex based protections. Righty ho innocent, we can see what you are. Can't see that working out well somehow.

HearMeSnore · 02/02/2021 10:42

I used to buy 2 boxes of their smoothies a week. DD still has a collection of those little magnetic letters that used to be in the boxes.

I won't be buying any more.

Datun · 02/02/2021 10:39

Indeed. Undermining women's sex-based rights and allowing the pile on of a woman is misogynistic crap. Not 'cross making'.

TirisfalPumpkin · 02/02/2021 10:32

I know the cheery-folksy tone is part of their brand, but applying it to a ‘shut up women’ press release is toe-curlingly patronising. ‘This made some people on Twitter quite cross’. Really?

Datun · 02/02/2021 10:12

Placemarking to see if James Kirkup has anything to add.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/02/2021 09:56

Ah right. So, inclusive of everyone except those supporting women's rights? Got it.

They're not losing me as a customer because I'd mostly rather just eat fruit, and I've got a juicer and a blender.

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 09:49

Well, that's pretty clear, isn't it?

I think I might knit some little wokebeards and mini penises to tie on the innocent smoothie bottles, seeing as they like to dress them up.

Beamur · 02/02/2021 09:31

I think, should anyone have time on their hands, the only way to push back on this is to reflect the same tactics. To go through the accounts of some followers, flag up language and content that is not respectful or inclusive and organise a significant reporting exercise and see what happens.
Then keep doing it Wink
