@TheOtherBoelynGirl

"The misogyny I experienced is from Men. not trans folk."

But some "trans folk" are men.

You sound very transphobic.

I'm the worst x

I'm the queen of mumsnet - look at my empire of dirt.

JaimeLeeCurtains · 02/02/2021 14:03

I'm drinking V8 for breakfast now.

(Please gawd don't let them be woke-washed too.)

CorvusPurpureus · 02/02/2021 14:00

Ah well, they're off the shopping list then. Didn't know about the coke link, either.

To be fair they were a bad habit anyway. I was making my own fresh smoothies last year to get breakfast down my teenagers, then got lazy & started getting Innocent ones delivered with the grocery.

So it's good to have a kick up the bum to go back to homemade - I'll save a fortune & we'll all be saving a lot of not so hidden sugar.

Beamur · 02/02/2021 13:59

Not really interested in a derail into toilet police.
This is about fake woke-wash and how some clumsy PR is now resulting in ageist, sexist bullying. Nice one 'Innocent'

AbsintheFriends · 02/02/2021 13:57

Always willing to engage with sound and considered viewpoints. Got absolutely no time to be bothering with the level of argument you get outside McDonalds at 3am on a Saturday night.

The Innocent gender pay gap figures are interesting. On the surface 6.6% doesn't sound too awful (and it just shows how deeply entrenched we are in patriarchal shit that I even think that) but when you look a little further at Mean and Median figures for hourly pay and bonuses it becomes obvious that the contempt for women Innocent are showing on twitter is at least one value that they genuinely hold, rather than just being empty posturing. Nice.

JaimeLeeCurtains · 02/02/2021 13:47

Genuine question - what and who are 'trans folk'? It seems very much like an over-arching term for a variety of differently-specialed people who have repeatedly said 'please don't pigeon-hole me'.

I guess it's hard to pinpoint a spectrum.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/02/2021 13:42

Oops?ConfusedHmm

PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 13:37

The misogyny I experienced is from Men.

How do you know? Did you inspect their genitals?

Conniethesensible · 02/02/2021 13:29

@HettieMillia

Maybe... just maybe. Trans rights do not come at the cost of women's rights. oops

Seems to me you haven't grasped the bigger picture here. Because even someone with an ounce of intelligence would begin to understand that conflating trans rights with women's rights ultimately removes women's rights and safeguards.

And it's not about a company unfollowing an individual. It's about a large company using their platform as a vehicle which has led to a public harassment of an individual for her legal beliefs. All in the name of inclusion. For everyone that's not a woman.

So ooops right back atcha.

Nahhh hun - I've been using bathrooms for 3 decades just fine. trans people have been using them too. I go into a cubicle, do my business and leave.

The misogyny I experienced is from Men. not trans folk.

if you wanna keep spaces single-sex, I'll put it simply.

I'm not fucking showing my genitals to a toilet inspector. That is not empowering.

so once again oops xxx

Nothappytohelp · 02/02/2021 13:26

@Conniethesensible

look at them likes.
Oh yes those lovely likes. Many of these are focusing on the individual (named) woman at the centre of this including one gleeful person who points out her age and rubs their hands at the idea of her dying soon. Yes, look at those likes.

Innocent can follow and unfollow whoever they want, I really don't think anyone cares very much and certainly no one considers that 'political censorship'. What they chose to do however was to name publicly who they have unfollowed, directly referred to transphobia when referring to this person (leaving them wide open to targeted, personal abuse) and then released a fluffy statement about inclusivity (again, absolutely fine and valid, except it sweeps over the inclusivity of sex-based rights which they clearly don't think are important).

If so many people are 'quite cross' to use their own twee term, maybe...just maybe those people had a point?

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2021 13:23

For real, Connie, I do not know why you bother, either.

HettieMillia · 02/02/2021 13:16

@AbsintheFriends

Method and Ocado are on my boycott list too, if we're doing a round up.
Why method? 😭
Conniethesensible · 02/02/2021 12:58

For real I don't even know why I bother engaging people on here but if you're actually angry at "political censorship" by a smoothie company unfollowed someone on Twitter - your "concerns" are not pressing.

Maybe... just maybe. Trans rights do not come at the cost of women's rights. oops.

Conniethesensible · 02/02/2021 12:54

look at them likes.

SophocIestheFox · 02/02/2021 12:49

I also think it’s hilarious that some random bloke combs through the social media of a soft drink company looking for wrongthink in the feeds of people followed by that company, but we’re the obsessive nutters for responding? Grin aye, right.

SophocIestheFox · 02/02/2021 12:47

It really is a useful indicator these days that if a company suddenly takes an interest in policing their customers viewpoints on topics utterly irrelevant to their function in the world, then they’re almost certainly dropping a bollock on some more substantive aspect of their professed ethical standpoint.

Eg: innocent are hot on respect for gender identity, but will happily sell you a pouch of diabetes and are part of Coca Cola, who have an extremely flexible view of responsible tax paying.

Oatly will lecture you on how awful it is that boomers don’t understand pronouns, but are part owned by Blackstone, leading to shady links with Trump supporting and Amazonian deforestation, plus feeding their leftovers from making products for indulging vegans to farmed pigs.

Lush will profess to turn away transphobes and homophobes at the door of their shops, but have an unedifying tendency to encouraging exploitation and sexual harassment of their female employees. Bonus points to them for accidentally donating to Woman’s Place though Grin

Stick to companies that execute well against the relevant ethical standard for their product- fair trade, living wages, sustainability etc. The companies that do well on this don’t need to tell you anything else, and they shouldn’t.

rogdmum · 02/02/2021 12:46

I was also wondering what their legal department would think is they knew (assuming they are unaware) that their Twitter child’s tweets were leading to the harassment of a named individual who had not been interacting with them (I.e. her “crime” was being followed by Innocent”.

AfternoonToffee · 02/02/2021 12:46

@MichelleofzeResistance

Their response seems to be getting lots of likes though.

Of course it is. The chance of joining in with some gleeful gynephobia is always welcomed by some on Twitter. You only have to read the comments to see exactly what bit is being enjoyed. Look at the focus of all the comments; it's all about the joy of seeing females put in their place and reminded that their rights, needs and feelings do not matter.

I know, but it just seems a bit deflating, to see so many cheering them on.
HettieMillia · 02/02/2021 12:30

Maggie is getting horrible comments on innocent’s Twitter feed. They absolutely incited this against an elderly disabled woman (not that she seems to give a fuck)

Yeah surely there ought to be some law around companies using their large platform to shame someone for their legal beliefs, and consequently that person being targeted and hassled in an attempted cancellation as a result of this.

@hazzatheowl

Ormally · 02/02/2021 12:26

ArabellaScott, thank you for that pattern. The thought of wokebeards has made me laugh out loud. There were some Scandi-style gnome knits a while back that had just the thing. Think I'm going to adapt the dicks to add a good smattering of boobs as well though.

PotholeParadies · 02/02/2021 12:25

And accusing people who drank innocent smoothies in public of committing microaggressions.

AnyOldPrion · 02/02/2021 12:23

I thought this was an interesting comment from the guy who originally tweeted Innocent...classic abuser tactic.

I know the screenshot was a few pages back now, but I wanted to point out that boycotting a product is not cancel culture. If it were cancel culture, we’d be trying to get supermarkets to take Innocent Smoothies off the shelves.

unwashedanddazed · 02/02/2021 12:22

I usually buy two family-size bottles of their orange juice every week. No more! They forget they're not the only supplier out there.

They've gone the same way as flora in my house. Although I do eat far more butter now because I'd forgotten how good it tastes compared to flora Grin
