Personal statement condemning transphobia in response to the number of young members leaving and giving this as their reason.

@Teentitansonloop

The insane thing is that I no zero women who are against trans people or gender non conformity or have a phobia or hatred of gender non conformity. But we are being asked to deny that sex exists which is clearly bonkers.

Weirdly the last points a) employment and b) access to goods and services are the most important ones however they have spent the whole time basically 'shut up women' who don't agree with gender ideology.

Everyone I know has no issue with ensuring that trans people are protected and rightly so.

But people do not know the extent of the issue. DP said he’d just have to put on a dress snd declare himself a woman: couldn’t believe he could remain his bearded, corduroy wearing self and, should he declare himself to be a woman, that’s it.

Also the lesbians must not say no to penises, etc. But most people genuinely don’t know.

😱 that wings thing!

@theskyispink

It'd be great if people could stop derailing this thread with their pet political grievances.

Women across the country are being thrown under the bus and we have posters in this thread implying that, because of their political beliefs, they're the wrong kind of women so we may as well stick the boot in anyway and insult them further.

Let's focus on the women, please.

I agree with this. Plenty threads for Indy debate, etc.

This is about the removal of fundamental women’s rights.

Seriously if they come out with that definition of transphobia it's going to show how deranged the whole thing is. Which would be great imho.

HubertHerbert · 29/01/2021 13:44

Some of the strongest opposition to the erasure of women's rights is also coming from the SNP.

What does that tell us? Tells is it's a broad church, a single issue party is going to have lots of different people involved. This gender mania has gripped virtually every other organisation, it's far from unique to the SNP.

You don't want indy. We get it. We've heard you.

I am not "saying they are the wrong kind of women" - don't make things up.

The SNP's position on trans issues seems to be crazed, deranged , unacceptable- what does that tell you about the SNP?

nancywhisky · 29/01/2021 13:33

Do separatists read The Spectator or The Times? Or care what those papers think? ofgs give it a rest.

@MissBarbary How so?

MissBarbary · 29/01/2021 12:50

@ArabellaScott

It's important to have debate on these issues but I don't think describing nationalists as 'crazed' is really helpful, is it?
I'm not apologising for that- the separatist movement strikes me as every bit as crazed as anything trans activists come up with.
Yep. Especially if they use the definition which is being heavily pushed...

www.transactual.org.uk/transphobia
Given that they equate the definition of Woman: Adult Human Female with someone offensively using a banana, I'd suggest that they don't really understand biology.

MoltenLasagne · 29/01/2021 11:54

Its interesting that the definition of transphobia starts with women standing up for their rights. I mean, we all know that TRAs see a focus on women as anti-trans but you'd think they'd start with the basics of actual physical violence rather than "literal violence" aka someone having opinions they don't like.

HubertHerbert · 29/01/2021 11:52

I think there's an entire new political party made up of mostly ex SNP members

HubertHerbert · 29/01/2021 11:50

"Do separatists read The Spectator or The Times? Or care what those papers think?"

Um, yes. Why wouldn't we?

Unsure of what is meant by "caring" what papers think

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2021 11:49

I don’t know but I heard that 40, 000 had left.

But it was only the 16 or 17 that left because of transphobia that were mentioned by NS

it was I think a Twitter leaving publisiced

ArabellaScott · 29/01/2021 11:47

gardenbird48 · 29/01/2021 11:47

Does anyone have any idea if the SNP capture data on people’s reasons for leaving? They are obviously under the impression that many young people are leaving because of the perceived lack of support for trans people but will they be able to differentiate the people who are leaving for the women’s rights issue?

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2021 11:44

Yes arabella. The however was chilling

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2021 11:41

There is a push back against this from within the SNP itself.

Especially from ordinary women

Tootsweets23 · 29/01/2021 11:31

It would be poetic justice if independence fails again because of trans rights activists. Two non-reality based movements crashing into one another.

MissBarbary · 29/01/2021 11:20

@Justhadathought

Seems like there is a push on to lockdown the twaw position once and for all. Scary stuff. Given the historic high rates of violence against women in Scotland I just cant see how anyone cannot see how offensive and dangerous it is

Given the seeming fervour in Scotland for Independence, it also seems that ever other consideration pales into insignificance. The same in England, where tribal hatred of the Tories is the main motivating factor for most on the left.

It is not too difficult to picture an independent Scotland, post break-up of the U.K; not only having to prove it has the means to join the EU/Euro zone ( not a given); but significantly impoverished, and with a crazed trans agenda to boot.

It's not difficult to imagine at all. The separatist vision for Scotland is crazed enough in itself so they might as well add extreme trans rights in. Neither stance has any grounding in reality or common sense.
