I have no issue watever with men wearing ladies' undies, or even going Commando to the shops while fantasising that they've changed sex.
I do have an issue with anyone saying "These men are women and must be trated as such".
Maybe mixed-sex AS parties are a good idea. Just be honest about what you're doing.
Whenever anyone outrages rationality it needs to be called out, even if
it's in a frivolous area such as waxing or AS events. Men are not women; not least in their phisiology.

I say again, you have no idea what is going on inside anyone's head at an event like this. You are making assumptions based on:
Male or transwoman: Potential festishist Woman: Person who would never dream of having sexual thoughts about anyone else

Exactly
Assumptions everywhere
Also can feel an attack of the vapours coming on at women having sexy thoughts here lol

@YetAnotherSpartacus

I had to get chips on the walk home i was that stressed

You are so full of excuses today!

I am 😀

  • You said you invite friends and family to the parties. Which you do, yes. The poster was just pointing out anyone going to these parties could be indulging in their fetishes/fantasies, so so what if someone is trans? When biological women would be doing the exact same thing? There is a 1950s attitude to some of these posts, assuming the women there get easily embarrassed, aren't indulging fantasies etcThink that's what the poster meant anyway, that's how I read it*

Thank you quaggers

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 14:03

Aspiring there is nothing derisive about any tone, it’s laughing at ourselves stuck in this situation.

Even if there was, hurt feelings does not equal our very lives being at risk in so many very harmful ways once legal rights protections are gone. Keep it in perspective because you’re a spit away from ‘let’s just be kind’ by the sounds of it.

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 14:02

Sorry, for clarity my last post was in reference to this comment

Most 'sexy' underwear is designed not to turn a woman on but to cater to men's porn fantasies

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/01/2021 14:01

LA

Yeah, so im still not talking about fetish

Other posters have referred to it but I haven’t

Im just talking about SOME women who MIGHT be embarrassed if they THINK a man is in the room...not about fetish

(Loads of my friends have been to ann summers parties...i dont think any of them thought it was a fetish 😀)

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 14:00

Again, it’s a tongue in cheek joke. Take offence at a joke by all means, but we have very serious real life stuff to be offended at.

And never once have I proclaimed to be a feminist. I tend to stick to saying I am pro women’s liberation, because people misuse words so badly these days a ‘feminist’ is whatever the fuck they say it is.

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 13:59

Also wondering how wearing sexy underwear is for the men, to indulge their fetishes?!
Can we not wear it for US, because it makes us feel good?!
Admittedly, I'm more Bridget Jones type ones now lol but still Grin

MartiniDry · 24/01/2021 13:58

Humpty, thank you, and thank god! 👍🏻

LApprentiSorcier · 24/01/2021 13:56

I’m saying that generally only men have a fetish which involves making others feel uncomfortable. I’ve seen and read about plenty of examples. Always male perpetrators.

Or only males who get caught ...

I say again, you have no idea what is going on inside anyone's head at an event like this. You are making assumptions based on:

Male or transwoman: Potential festishist
Woman: Person who would never dream of having sexual thoughts about anyone else.

OldFolksTalkinBoutBackinMyDay2 · 24/01/2021 13:56

Sexy underwear is for a fetish?

What is the fetish in that situation then?

MissBarbary · 24/01/2021 13:53

@SqueakyCarrots

And you’ve proven you don’t understand what words mean - tongue in cheek means it’s a joke.

We are allowed to laugh at what an unbearable reality self id will impose. Women are the butt of that joke, it’s ok to laugh at those who benefit from it -tw- I’m completely sure Mir and others won’t be offended we laughed at love eggs and clit stimulators.

I was just further laughing at how we all differently laugh at our situations doesn’t translate. I’m just saying different countries often have different humours, not saying everyone in Scotland sees it the same, just it’s a common trait back home, or was when I was growing up. And there’s certainly no ‘super special’ contained with in saying I come from a country where we laugh at everything in a way that’s not supposed to be offensive- just saying it doesn’t translate often. Saying we don’t take ourselves too seriously does not equal super special. It’s not a dig it’s a fuck the tone gets lost on line.

More sweeping generalisations. I don't go around trumpeting I'm Scottish as I don't think the accident of where I was born is particularly interesting but I find this wholesale imposition of national characteristics because of that accident offensive and extremely narrow minded.

Your point about wit could have been made without dragging in the ridiculous stereotypes. I assume you as a proclaimed feminist dismiss stereotypes but yet you are happy to promote and defend this stereotype.

OldFolksTalkinBoutBackinMyDay2 · 24/01/2021 13:53

I have a fetish about being treated as a real person instead of an object for men to wank at or over. This is a fetish that is rarely catered for.

I am nominating this for post of the day.

Aspiringmatriarch · 24/01/2021 13:51

@SqueakyCarrots

Aspiring I think you need to check out the info on apg.

I’d have zero issue sitting at such a party-if I’d ever go to one as an adult not a student...- with the likes of Yardley, although I doubt he’d (he says he not she, respecting that) go- but I’d feel very very differently about one that included Janiv or Danielle Muscato or similar.

There’s a huge huge difference between the reasons behind why people trans and the apg one is a very different thing, a predatory threatening thing in plenty cases.

But we can’t see from the outside who has which reasons, the same way you can’t see my gentle, respectful husband would never pose you any harm, so we need a clear line. And that line is sex. Women means women and we need that protected in any and all areas. Even ones we’d baulk at the idea of attending.

Fair enough, I guess I just don't see the need for such a derisory tone. For every Jessica Yaniv I'm sure there are many trans people just getting on with their lives and they don't deserve that.
Covidcorvid · 24/01/2021 13:51

@LApprentiSorcier

There’s a massive issue between being happy to hand out sex toys to a group of women and potentially being used as an unwitting part of someone’s sexual fetish.

The whole industry of Ann Summers type businesses is founded on fetish. Sexy underwear is a fetish, sex toys are a fetish. If someone is hosting one of these parties, they can't have any idea what's going on in the minds of the guests/buyers whether they are female, male or trans. Or are you saying that only male-born individuals have any interest in fetish?

I’m saying that generally only men have a fetish which involves making others feel uncomfortable. I’ve seen and read about plenty of examples. Always male perpetrators.
TriflePudding · 24/01/2021 13:48

It’s the changing of a female space to a mixed space without being clear about which is the problem.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/01/2021 13:47

That’s not because people are generally stuck in the 1950s though, but because fetishes can be extremely niche

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 13:47

Was actually replying to your other post aspiring but it answers your next question also.

Yes tw eroding women only anywhere is the problem. They are more than welcome at anything that isn’t woman only, but they can’t change the meaning of our words even in seemingly irrelevant and unimportant areas like Ann summers mlms.

‘Trotting along’ because they see femininity as props to become a woman, so wear heels. It’s tongue in cheek, but again that doesn’t seem to translate well.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/01/2021 13:46

Sexy underwear, for a start. Costumes. Pink furry handcuffs

Oh dear.

Most 'sexy' underwear is designed not to turn a woman on but to cater to men's porn fantasies.

Pink furry handcuffs are surely a joke that turns no one on.

PlantMam · 24/01/2021 13:42

Most people have a very narrow view of fetish though, including Anne Summers the company.

That’s not because people are generally stuck in the 1950s though, but because fetishes can be extremely niche (shrinking fetish? Balloon fetish? Squashing live bugs fetish? Gym sock and jockstrap fetish?) Anne Summers caters for none of them.
Bigots!

LApprentiSorcier · 24/01/2021 13:42

@OldFolksTalkinBoutBackinMyDay2

Curious now.

What items of "fetish-wear" can one buy at Ann Summers parties? Anyone?

(It needn't be a long list.)

Sexy underwear, for a start. Costumes. Pink furry handcuffs.
