I appreciate the politics of the account are erm interesting at times but this popped into my timeline and is worth a look. Littered with the most blunt of blunt replies. (Yesterday but I couldn't see a thread elsewhere.)

They love a 'PC gone mad' story but that's about it.

Tom Harwood:
"It's a disgrace that Maya Forstater lost her job as a result of tweeting out a bad opinion.
Btw gender self-ID is good and trans exclusionary radical feminists opposing it show themselves up for an astounding lack of knowledge as to the broken system at the moment"

That was two years ago, he may have changed his opinion since then.

You do not have to be any kind of feminist to realise this is all twaddle.

Quite. Nobody actually believes it's possible to change sex. Some people pretend to believe in it and then perform all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify it. Why? Because peer pressure is huge - if you're on the left, the most important thing is to believe what everyone else on the left believes, not to think for yourself.

On the other hand, there is absolutely no peer pressure on the right to believe that it's possible to change sex, therefore for the most part they don't pretend to believe it.

I wouldn’t call every critic of genderism ‘gender critical’. Although genderism is sexist with a self congratulatory veneer of progressivism, mainstream Tory thinking (like Guido Fawkes’ blog) is very often also sexist too. (As is Labour thinking, and Lib Dem and the Greens, so pretty much all the voting options right now Hmm)

I’ve been reading Guido on and off over the years and it’s often preoccupied with women as being patriarchally fuckable or not, so ‘totty’ (in the kindest descriptions.. eg his ‘TottyWatch’ series). It covers lesbian issues for titillation and so on. The BTL comments about women are often vile. No real engagement with women’s issues.

Guido Fawkes writers just dislike wokeness. That’s a widespread right wing view. If there are some eventual benefits to women, girls, or safeguarding of right wingers making any progress with that view, then those benefits are largely incidental. There could equally be other harms arising to women if they gain any traction, because the patriarchal thinking is still entrenched- hence many women still feeling politically ‘homeless’ and feeling we need to keep re-stating a women’s agenda whoever is in political ascendancy at any time.

Scepticism is scepticism. Bullshit is bullshit.

I agree. I don't think this type of person is "gender critical" which I see as a more active position speaking out against the creep of gender identity ideology into institutions and policy.

Its just that they don't believe in gender identity ideology. Like most people.
