This screengrab is from the new presidents own web site.

I wonder how this well this is going to go down when they try to implement it.

"VAGINA: We use this word to talk about the genitals of transwomen who have had bottom surgery.'"

How bout no.

A vagina is something women, that is adult human females, have. Transwomen can have neo or faux vaginas. Or they can lovingly adopt the term "fronthole" for themselves. No self-respecting woman will ever agree with calling their vagina is a fronthole. Gimme a f'ing break.

Floisme · 18/01/2021 16:48

I very much fear that American women will have to wait for the next generation to sort this out. They, I believe, will look at their parents and go *What the fuck?' as young people always do.

Even then they'll have a hell of a fight on their hands.

HmmSureJan · 18/01/2021 16:46

I also used to believe the sports issue would wake people up too but I believe it won't happen quickly enough; boiling frog analogy here. There won't be an onslaught of trans people competing for many years, just a few here and there and people won't feel like it's enough to complain about. Gradually over the years more and more young trans people will train and begin to compete until they start winning in significant numbers but it won't matter because apart from a few suppressed GC voices it will be normal.

TheBuffster · 18/01/2021 16:44

"she cares more about being inclusive to an oppressed and abused group than a medal!"

That's because she's been programmed as a support human.

TheBuffster · 18/01/2021 16:43

'Oppressed and abused group'
What like women are oppressed and abused?

Sadly having daughters in no way guarantees a parent will seek the best for them and protect their rights.
Look at Rupert Grint parroting twaw after his wife birthed a baby girl.

HmmSureJan · 18/01/2021 16:39

Do these Dems have young daughters who are good at sport, or even interested in pursuing a professional career in sport?

When they themselves are "directly affected" we might hear them singing from a different songbook.

Woke millennial Democrats have daughters too. I'm hoping that's enough to eventually wake them up. Pun intended.

I have a male friend whose daughter is a long distance runner. I asked him how he'd feel if she has to compete against trans women and he said "she cares more about being inclusive to an oppressed and abused group than a medal!"

What can you do with that?

TheBuffster · 18/01/2021 16:39

@UppityPuppity mainly those descriptors make me want to cross my legs.

Unfortunately, sport is seen by the vast majority of people as a lark not as a serious vocation.

Was chatting to my friend today about this and she said something along the lines of they're such a minority how could they possibly impact sports.
She played roller derby and had trans people take part so thinks it is all in fun. She's small but a rottweiler though so I doubt she'd ever consider them intimidating. She also said surely if someone goes to those lengths it must be really important and just let them play.

I find this is the prevalent view- it's a direct result of people not taking women's sports seriously. DH was playing devil's advocate and said what if it popularizes women's sports? Good way to guarantee a night on the couch for him.

Basically women's sports is held in such little regard that no-one really cares if it's pulled apart. Ditto women's safety. Ditto dignity.

I honestly don't know what will turn the tide, as people won't fight for women's sports because it's not valued or prioritised.

HmmSureJan · 18/01/2021 16:31

I believe Biden and Harris getting in has tipped the balance. It's over. Four years to cement these policies and slip them into law. There'll be no undoing them. I'm considering deleting my Twitter and all evidence on FB and other SM of my GC stance, I will be looking for a job in a few years and as a single parent I can't afford to have this held against me. I've never felt more beaten than I do right now.

UppityPuppity · 18/01/2021 16:27

FRONT HOLE: We use this word to talk about internal genitals, sometimes referred to as a vagina. A front hole may self-lubricate, depending on age and hormones.

Chilling use of language.

Note to self - my womanly front hole is the urethra - which I pee out of. It does not self lubricate - irrespective of age or hormones. Anyone else?

I feel very afraid for LGB, abused, autistic children that they will be medicalised into T when the vast majority will naturally desist.

NecessaryScene1 · 18/01/2021 16:15

There will also be children who are being sexually abused within their family or community or bullied at school and who see identifying as a boy as the way out. And children with autism who don’t fit in and see trans ideology as a way of being accepted by their peers.

Plus what seems to be a common pattern for boys - homophobic parents not tolerating feminine behaviour. (And the parents admit it, possibly because they don't realise it).

Saw this one the other day - testimony to some committee about Equality Act. Here's what the blurb says:

The struggle against discrimination in the United States is as old as the country itself. For generations, marginalized people have fought and sacrificed for the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all Americans.

The Equality Act is the next chapter in this story.

...

Victims include workers, nearly half of whom have been subjected to discrimination in the workplace. They include the nearly one quarter of all LGBTQ Americans who forgo medical care to avoid the discrimination in the health care system. And they include students and parents and families of LGBTQ individuals like Kimberly Shappley, who will testify today about her struggle to protect her 8-year-old transgender daughter, Kai, from discrimination at school.

Here's a chunk of that testimony:

Before the age of two, Kai’s mannerisms were notably feminine. When she was two, Kai chose female playmates, traditionally female roles while playing, and toys traditionally for girls. Immediately, I intervened. I requested that the daycare put away the girl toys so Kai couldn’t play with them. But by three years old Kai was telling anyone who would listen that she is a girl. That’s when I implemented a home-remedy version of conversion therapy based on counsel I had received from my family and friends, who are also devoutly religious. I hated every minute of it but felt a responsibility to save my child’s soul from hell. Things changed for me when I overheard Kai praying for Jesus to take her home to be with him forever. That’s when I allowed my knowledge of science and psychology to finally override my poor theology. I remembered the data on suicide risk for transgender youth whose gender identity is not supported by their families. So Kai socially transitioned at four and a half.

...

The result, for my daughter, was a terrible school environment. At 5 and 6 years old, Kai was frequently locked out of the only restroom she had access to, leaving her to have accidents in front of her peers. It also taught her that the adults around her at school were going to consistently fail her. She was frequently reminded of her birth name by certain staff members, even by one of her teachers. This was obviously intentional and cruel behavior. Peers bullied her and called her a boy with little or no intervention from school staff, until one day she came home and told me she couldn’t take it anymore. I relocated my family two weeks later to Austin, leaving the area I had known for more than 25 years to save my daughter. To this day, I have friends and family who I do not communicate with because I accept my daughter.

Sarah McBride is (since January 2021) a Democratic State Senator for Delaware.

.
Also Sarah McBride is the National Press Secretary for The Human Rights Campaign,
www.hrc.org/about/staff/sarah-mcbride

.
Some really disturbing redefinitions of the names of sex organs in The Human Rights Campaign document 'Safer Sex for Trans Bodies':

'PARTS: We use this word when we’re talking about genitals or
sexual anatomy of any kind.

DICK: We use this word to describe external genitals. Dicks come
in all shapes and sizes and can belong to people of all genders.

FRONT HOLE: We use this word to talk about internal genitals,
sometimes referred to as a vagina. A front hole may self-lubricate,
depending on age and hormones.

STRAPLESS: We use this word to describe the genitals of trans
women who have not had genital reconstruction (or “bottom
surgery”), sometimes referred to as a penis.

VAGINA: We use this word to talk about the genitals of trans
women who have had bottom surgery.'

There will also be children who are being sexually abused within their family or community or bullied at school and who see identifying as a boy as the way out. And children with autism who don’t fit in and see trans ideology as a way of being accepted by their peers.

None of whom will be helped by being drugged and sterilised.

OvaHere · 18/01/2021 15:36

'....Biden has credited his passion for LGBTQ issues to his late son Beau Biden’s close friendship with Sarah McBride, who is transgender.

McBride worked on Beau Biden’s reelection campaign for attorney general in Delaware, where they later collaborated to pass protections for transgender people in housing, health insurance and employment.'

It's easy to see how this happens in the US because all sorts of marginalised people do suffer because of lack of protections and there's nothing wrong with wanting to help anyone who is at risk of homelessness, being fired due to discrimination or unable to afford healthcare.

However blanket 'people are the opposite sex if they say so' policies across every aspect of governance lack critical thought. It's impossible to dispense with sex and biology without quite drastic consequences.

The page in the screen grab is not on the website - in fact there doesn't seem to be any political info at all apart from his post election speech and links to Inauguration Day merchandise.

It's on this page.

he could face his most laborious hurdle in passing the Equality Act, a package of measures that protect against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation that was passed by the House in 2019 but blocked by the Republican-led Senate.

Now that I could get behind whole-heartedly.

But all the stuff about supporting trans children worries me deeply - there may be some children in that cohort who will grow into adults who identify as trans. There will also be girls trying to identify out of womanhood because (on an instinctive level) they sense that women get the shitty end of the stick in our society, but have come up with the wrong solution to a genuine problem. There will also be gay children of deeply homophobic parents who would sooner have a transgirl in a dress than a boy in a dress. There will also be attention seeking parents who never got over gender disappointment at the 20 week scan and whose motives are, shall we say, dubious. An unthinking "affirmation only" approach does most of these subgroups no good whatsoever.

The Washington Post 11/1/2021

'Biden’s ambitious LGBT agenda poises him to be nation’s most pro-equality president in history'

www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/11/biden-lgbtq-policies/

'...Joe Biden became a fast friend of the LGBTQ community as vice president in 2012 by stating his support for same-sex marriage in a television interview even before his boss, President Barack Obama, did.

That same year, outside an Obama-Biden campaign office in Florida, it was Biden’s unexpected support for the transgender community that elevated his status from an LGBTQ ally to a champion. When the mother of a Miss Trans New England pageant winner asked Biden if he would help transgender people, she later told reporters, Biden whispered that it was the “civil rights issue of our time.” .....

..... 'When he left the vice presidency, Biden partnered with other advocates to start the As You Are campaign to advocate for families’ acceptance of their transgender children, which “dramatically improves their child’s self-esteem and decreases the likelihood they will experience depression or suicidal ideation,” the Biden Foundation was cited as saying in a 2019 announcement.'

.
'..... he could face his most laborious hurdle in passing the Equality Act, a package of measures that protect against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation that was passed by the House in 2019 but blocked by the Republican-led Senate.

That act — which Biden has pledged to make a policy priority during his first 100 days in office — has been a cornerstone of the community’s fight for equal rights in housing and employment since it was first discussed after the Stonewall riots in 1969.'

'If Republicans retain control of the Senate, the legislation’s passage will remain unpredictable. Some Republicans have instead backed the Fairness for All Act, which provides some LGBTQ protections while also granting certain exceptions for religious institutions and organizations.

Much of the battle over LGBTQ rights has been happening in statehouses, where those issues have been lightning rods in the nation’s culture war. This has kept policy debates about restroom access and puberty blockers largely beyond the reach of the federal government, but the rhetoric coming out of the White House does have influence, said Drew Anderson, a longtime LGBTQ advocate who used to work with GLAAD.'

.

The path to Gilead could be just as easily paved by the left.

Via a slight shift in the boot on the neck. The left pisses normal middle-of-the-road voters off so much that they vote for Trump Mark II, only Trump Mark II turns out not only to be evil, but to be competently, intelligently and efficiently evil, and brings about Gilead.

The thing that stopped America going completely to pot under Trump was, ultimately, that the golf course at Mar a Lago was more enticing to him than putting in the hard graft to undermine the constitution and put an authoritarian regime in place.

TriflePudding · 18/01/2021 15:07

I never thought I would live in a time of such profound, gleeful, overt sexism. Or that those being subjugated by an accident of birth that put them into the lifelong worth less, matters less category, would be told at the same time by those enforcing it that they may not say sex exists

Me neither. It looks dystopian when you lay it out like that.

The path to Gilead could be just as easily paved by the left.

OvaHere · 18/01/2021 15:05

It was definitely on his page either pre or just post election because I remember screen grabbing also. I did read elsewhere over the weekend that they don't think the Equality Act is feasible in the first 100 days. Now that could just be because other things such as Covid are more pressing. We'll get a better idea if he signs the EO about sports and locker rooms or not - at one time he was saying he would do that in his first day in office.

@dryroastcumin

I'm a long-time lurker, just registered. This is my first post.

I'm very concerned about this issue and looked up the Joe Biden website for more detail on the policy. The page in the screen grab is not on the website - in fact there doesn't seem to be any political info at all apart from his post election speech and links to Inauguration Day merchandise.

Pink News is sounding rather uncertain about delivery of the LGBQT agenda:
www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/01/14/joe-biden-equality-act-first-100-days-donald-trump-impeachment/

May be cause for cautious optimism?

I also saw a post in the comments of a Posy Parker youtube video that was saying Biden has quietly (and recently) dropped his commitment to ending womens rights.

Is it too much to hope he is rowing back?

OvaHere · 18/01/2021 15:00

This is our world now?

Honestly I think this has always been our world to a degree. Think of all the health & safety regulations written in blood. People rarely act to close loopholes or implement safety measures until something so tragic and so extreme happens that it can't be ignored any longer. Blind eyes will be turned on all this until it's pushed to the very limits of extreme. All the things you mentioned should be enough but clearly they aren't.

dyslek · 18/01/2021 14:57

I posted this before on another thread and it got deleted, but I will try to phrase it in a way that pleases the censors.

All this; kids being experimented on, safeguarding for women and children going out the window in multiple areas, science denial, the war on free speech, and every other bit of lunacy no one in a million years ever dreamed they'd see happen, is to back up one lie; that a *man can be a women.

That kind of power in society is almost beyond the imagination of most women, we can't even convince society that killing us is bad.

*a very privilaged man at that, because if anyone thinks all this is to help prostituted men in third world countries, then I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

MichelleofzeResistance · 18/01/2021 14:56

It's like the wellbeing of a female inmate matters far less than what the male rapist wants and feelz. Since when did rapists have any say in where they serve their sentence?

It does, in itself, belie the whole TWAW reason doesn't it? Women aren't lucky enough to be treated like this. There's two very distinct groups here, and clear expectation they should be treated very differently indeed, while at the same time giving the reason for major disadvantage to one group that the two groups are one, the same and indistinguishable. The reason for the difference in treatment between the two groups is sex based.

There's no logic anywhere in this, it's just a whole lot of sexism.
