The cognative dissonance of Lorraine

I'm sick of the daytime chat shows giving trans ideology a free uncritical pass and now Eddy Izzard has 'come out' as a woman he has become an advocate of the junkscience bullshit:
I do all the dramatic roles in 'boy mode'..because I'm gender fluid..when I did [Portrait] .. I was in 'girl mode'
This is nodded through by Lorraine.
We are getting closer and closer to working out the genetic thing in transgender, and that is going to help humanity .. with no research or evidence offered of course.

We are all girls as a foetus Eddy explains, . some of us get coded boys, ..Testes and oaries are the same thing but they get 'coded' different ways..

..People..Stop being so obsessed about this and back off says Eddy suddenly - probably in boy mode?

Yes tell your own truth and be kind surely that is more important than shoving a label on because it doesn't really matter says a simpering Lorrine throwing away women's rights through gritted teeth and narrowing eyes (just freezeframe her face when she has to say that, she looks uncomfortable saying it, probably in keeping her job mode).

Your a fantastic woman and a fantastic human being, says Lorraine dropping the "w" word at the end of the interview.
Thank you for being so supportive it's great that your there says Eddy emotionally. They both get emosh and there are nearly tears (because they are both women!) but I felt that underlying it Lorraine was uncomfortable in this whole performance.

@highame

othering you make my point for me. I wasn't saying be nice I was saying be f%"cking tolerant
Tolerant of what? Either womanhood is a feeling or it is something more substantive.

They have self appointed “experts” in our schools telling our daughters (from reception onwards) that if they like meccano and trains then they are really boys, and vice versa. This is everything that feminism has fought against for more than a century.

Poke your bloody tolerance of more patriarchal shite.

Lorraine speaks pish.

A lot of her guests also speak pish.

This came as no surprise.

@NotBadConsidering

I think it would be great if there was a genetic test for transgender. Firstly it would be a huge scientific breakthrough and a major event in genetic history to explain the sudden genetic shift that happened at the beginning of the 21st century accounting for the huge explosion in teenage girls identifying as trans in the last 5 years or so. Never in human history has such a swift genetic evolutionary change happened, so some investigation and breakthrough on that would be truly extraordinary. If only someone would take it upon themselves to investigate why so many teenage girls are now identifying as trans, perhaps we might get some genetic research out of it, but alas, no one seems interested at any of the gender clinics worldwide. Maybe Eddie could fund this by running marathons?

Second, it would clarify the exact nature of who is trans and who isn’t in terms of middle-aged males, which I’m sure trans activists would agree is something they can all get behind, because then no one would have to even bother with self ID, just have the test!

So I’m with Eddie on this one. Although I can’t see a mad rush of a queue forming if it becomes available...

‘Maybe Eddie could fund it by running marathons’ 🤣🤣🤣

As for the middle aged men suddenly becoming trans, maybe their genetic make up changed overnight - something to do with radiation?

Othering · 09/01/2021 08:32

@highame

I doubt very much that ITV has been stonewalled. I hope eventually a bit of tolerance kicks in because I'm just a bit sick of the nastiness. Make a point but make it well.
Yes, come on now laydees, be niiiiice.
AnyFucker · 09/01/2021 08:22

The gimlet-eyed Lorraine knows exactly what she is doing

@Quaagars

Is he wearing fake boobs to run?? (Apologies if I have previously not noticed this) what woman would willingly add boobs to running??

I don't know, but why would it matter?
We can speculate, as in maybe had hormone treatment, maybe hasn't but has decided to add padding?
Nobody knows
Women of all different shapes and sizes boob wise run
Maybe wants to feel more feminine coming at it from a male body originally

(I say this as someone who doesn't have big boobs)
Why are we judging, people can run whether they have big tits or small ones.

Why would it matter? Because isn't it just lovely to be able to switch from "girl mode" to "boy mode" when "girl mode" proves a little bit inconvenient? I'll believe in any person's sexual identity when they embrace ALL aspects of that identity: the good and the bad.

I'm currently reading a (horrifically eye-opening and distressing) book about rape as a weapon of war. Thus far, it seems to be about biological men raping biological women. This is why all the bullshit about "feeling like a girl" and "girl mode" makes me angry. Read this book: this is the lived reality of what it means to be female. Not twatting around with lipstick and pony tails and high heels, and being able to switch back to "boy mode" (the dramatic roles??) when shit gets real.

TrashedWarrior · 09/01/2021 07:59

Just read the op.

Shouldn't all of what he claims be "fact checked?"

BraveBananaBadge · 09/01/2021 07:54

Never in my life thought I’d ever hear myself say this, but it would be interesting to see how Piers Morgan would interview Eddie on this issue. He’d surely pin Eddie down a bit more for the sake of clarity if nothing else.

Seasaltyhair · 09/01/2021 07:20

If they are fake it makes me think he is actually getting off the movement them whilst running.

Because women with big boobs would gladly take them off for the run. Sweat rash, chaffing, bad back, bad posture .... the list goes on..

Sports/running bras for bigger boobed women that actually work without creating one monoboob are really hard to find.

I think the ovary testicles things makes sense but was explained clumsily to try to fit an agenda.

Testes and ovaries do both develop from the gonads and the "coding" aka genes determine whether they become testes or ovaries, in simplistic terms. But im not sure that proves anything other than sex isnt "assigned at birth" it happens in the womb and is fairly incontrovertible and doesnt come with a built in boy mode girl mode switch that you can flick either way according to your mood

The part about genes and trans is interesting. They have found genes responsible for maintaining ovaries as ovaries/testes e.g. if they turn off a gene then ovaries can become testes and produce testosyerone (but not sperm) in mice. Therefore surely if there is a gene for trans the body would already be producing sex changing infertile f2m people without the need for drugs?

Some people use the fact that this gene may be responsible for the sex/gender changing properties of some fish etc to justify saying that sex/gender is fluid in humans whilst ignoring the fact that this gene doesnt fuction that way in humans so is irrelevant to the argument

(I have used sex/gender because people use this science to justify a biological proof of gender change e.g. they talk about gender. But im not convinced someones ovaries becoming testes would be an indication of whether they could look coyly at a camera and switch jnto 'girl mode'z)

AbsintheFriends · 08/01/2021 10:04

Never mind Lorraine's cognitive dissonance, how about Izzard's? The first thing he says is 'if lying is allowed to be a tool of politics, humanity dies.'

And Lorraine laughs her tinkly laugh about the fact that Izzard claims to have been 'out' for 35 years and people still don't get that they're trans. Hahaha - aren't people daft? The fact is we ALL know that what Izzard was 'out' as was a male transvestite, self-described. 'They're not women's clothes, they're mine.'

'What does it matter,' simpers the mega-wealthy TV personality who has no fear of finding herself in a women's refuge, prison, mixed sex hospital ward or municipal swimming pool changing room. 'As long as you're a decent human being and you tell the truth' (hasty amendment) 'you tell your own truth and you're KIND... Surely that's more important than shoving a label on?'

Oh Lorraine... All that money, all that success - are you really so surrounded by showbiz luvvies that you can't think of any reasons why 'shoving a label on' which sex is which might be a good idea? Not one?? You dangerous fool.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/01/2021 09:12

@Lucieintheskye

I'm not transphobic or any other type of phobic so won't comment on your phobias but Lorraine is a phoney. She'll do anything to win over the public and a majority of people she needs to win over are the younger audience. She's as genuine as Derek Acorah
Aw bless your little heart 😂

How easy it is to dismiss critical thinking as "transphobic". Of course, this does also mean how easy it is to then not have to engage in any critical thinking of your own.

Obama says it best here

Ozgirl75 · 08/01/2021 06:38

Evan a simple “why do you call it girl mode?” Or a “so if you can switch between girl mode and boy mode, presumably you don’t mean that you switch between actually being a girl and a boy, because being a girl or a boy is about more than the clothes they wear, so what does it mean to you to be in boy mode? What can you do in boy mode that you can’t do in girl mode?”

Ozgirl75 · 08/01/2021 06:34

Thing is, it doesn’t even need her to be really hard hitting, it needs a simple “how do you mean exactly?” Or a “can you explain that a bit more” when he’s talking about how hard hitting roles are for boys and simpering is for girls. Hand the person the rope.

I’ve supported EI wearing ‘women’s’ clothing and make up for years. It reduces gender stereotypes.

I don’t support EI suddenly getting access to a womens swimming pool changing room where there are 13 year old girls. Or lesbian groups. Or women’s sports. I worry that affirming the ‘she’ narrative and the vague allusions to ‘coding’ blurs the boundaries on access and what is socially acceptable behaviour. It reinforces gender stereotypes. It goes against safeguarding. It might reduce opportunities for females if EI now takes the ‘token woman on tv show’ role. EI seemed more genuine before this.

But yeah call phobia if you want.

newyearnewname123 · 07/01/2021 20:32

Eddie's got some pretty impressive double think going on as well. He is against politicians lying, but then goes on to speak nonsense about biology.

notyourhandmaid · 07/01/2021 20:20

"Testes and ovaries are the same thing but they get 'coded' different ways.."

True but with a lot of caveats. The fact that an undifferentiated mass is then coded IN TWO SPECIFIC WAYS is pretty telling. In a method that is not arbitrary but links to your genetic sex.

Noticed the end bit where LK says "you're a wonderful woman and a wonderful human being."

I thought he wasn't saying he's a woman. 😳

Canwecancel2020 · 07/01/2021 19:30

@BraveBananaBadge

Oh Eddie. This is just gaslighting and it’s so unpleasant to see. I appreciate Eddie constantly stresses the pronoun thing is ‘not a demand’ and has their head on straight enough to understand where JKR is coming from. But then these sort of displays are just nonsensical, and the Twitter nitwits bollocking on about misgendering are unbearable.

That ‘boy mode’ suffices for Eddie’s serious dramatic work says it all. When Lorraine fancies a change from morning TV she could do the voiceover for the Two Minute Hate.

This is what I find most offensive, as if woman is a costume to wear at the weekend or on a daytime tv interview, when Eddie wants to make serious money doing serious acting, they can suddenly bear the dysphoria and be a man. And everyone falls over themselves to say how wonderful that is.No worries about the gender pay gap for Eddie (or endometriosis, child birth injuries or menopause) what a lucky girl Eddie is.
RickiTarr · 07/01/2021 19:27

I don’t really understand why we still need television that is quite so “lightweight” as Lorraine. Surely the demographic who used to watch Roland Rat, now hang out on SM, sharing conspiracy theories and abduction scare stories and hunning at each other? As PP said, Victoria Wood satire has long been indistinguishable from the real ITV late morning slots, so what’s the point except the advertising space? Just cut the pappy programming and let them watch wall to wall commercials.
