I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more" says Green Party Women's leader

The new chair of Green Party Women, a transwoman going under the name of Kathryn Bristow, one of whose personal pronouns is `fae' (no me neither), is really thrilled at the effects of her HRT (that's where it all is! No shortage for some!) recently tweeted:

twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343259759701618688?s=20

"Just started crying for no particular reason.
It's so wonderful, I've always just wanted to be able to feel my emotions. I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more".

The casual and offensive sexist stereotyping is off the scale of course.

A quick glance through her tweets shows absolutely zero interest in er, Green stuff. No tweets about climate change, animal welfare, recycling... anything remotely environmental at all.

I know the Green Party's innate misogyny is nothing new here but I had to vent. They are going from bad to worse. The trouble is, those not active on Twitter or social media are not aware of the danger this Party poses.

I'm not even sure if Kathryn is even transitioned?

And why do so many transwomen have an annoying little `cute' smile in their profile pics? It's just annoying.

I used to have a position of responsibility in the Green Party in the noughties and there was none of this rubbish. We were completely consumed with environmental concerns and animal welfare. People used to make fun of us because we were beardy and sandal clad and unworldly but at least we were authentic.

Wonder what qualifies Bristow in Bristow's opinion to inform women what they may and may not be concerned about, what reality is despite the evidence of a lived experience Bristow hasn't got, and to set their boundaries where it personally suits Bristow without bothering to consult or do anything but scold the women Bristow is busily othering there?

If Bristow feels unsafe in male spaces there's a number of answers to that which does not involve commandeering female single sex spaces from female people for male people.

Hmm

"Making spaces exclusively for the sex you were assigned at birth, won’t make anyone safer, it will force trans men into women’s spaces and will make trans women like myself feel very unsafe in our day to day lives.

Some ways to tackle male violence are education, safeguarding and ultimately putting an end to toxic masculinity. Accepting trans women into women’s spaces doesn’t put you in danger, it just makes all women safer."

GreenieFingers · 04/01/2021 23:54

Yes, the majority of the membership (in my experience) think it's all batshit crazy. They just want to get on with the environmental concerns that they have always concentrated upon. As they don't understand the fuckery, they just ignore it. It's kind of a microcosm of our wider society.

Those candidate names listed on the Grimsby Telegraph article would not have been my choice for any positions in the GPEW. Cleo would be the best option of that group featured in the article, but she seems to have been targeted by the self-ID crowd and sucked into their gaslighting. With luck and some thought she may be willing and able to find out more about the real issues and implications of the transgender demands and their impact upon women's rights.

"I don't ever want to define that word, because I can either be extremely offensive to half the human race and make the electorate go wtaf is he on, or I can really piss off some male people and activists who get quite... emphatic.... when annoyed."

HecatesCats · 04/01/2021 20:06

"“I don’t think we’re going to get any good solution on this issue if we’re trying to define a word" Confused

Yamayo · 04/01/2021 19:45

For fuck's sake.

RozWatching · 04/01/2021 18:01

But surely the majority of the current membership agree that defining people as 'self-identifying non-male/female' makes them look batshit crazy?

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to help sort out the Green Party. and I would support any just cause for women, being funded. It's crap that we have to verify if women's charities are inclusive of any man who claims to be a women though.

My view is that we have to fight every policy area and every political party that does not recognise that women are Adult Human Females and our spaces should remain single sex. The only way to fight is from the inside. I was evicted from the Labour Party for my views but still have a lot of contact with my friends who are fighting from within Labour. They too have to do battle from within. I understand that it's even worse in the LibDems.

Gurufloof · 04/01/2021 16:31

All I can say is that we need help to repair the Party and not for people to leave. Please - times a thousand. Every GC voice who leaves in disgust is a cause for celebration by the opposition, no matter how justified the disgust

It's only 3 quid a month or £36 for the year but I could give that to a women only charity (after checking its adult human females) and I reckon that's a better deal. At least then the money goes to women.

Needmoresleep · 03/01/2021 23:01

All I want is a broad church single issue party that I can actively support. I can’t see the greens being that.

The climate emergency won’t go away. Better to start afresh and leave the silliness to Kat and her friends.

It’s interest how too much focus on democracy leads to virtually none.

GreenieFingers · 03/01/2021 21:58

Yes @QueenoftheAir, they are not interested in democracy. I've just written a load of details about the inclusivity-obsessed leadership, who rely completely on the trans-allies for support, but had to delete it in case this causes too much trouble.

All I can say is that we need help to repair the Party and not for people to leave. Please - times a thousand. Every GC voice who leaves in disgust is a cause for celebration by the opposition, no matter how justified the disgust.

GreenieFingers · 03/01/2021 21:43

I do know most of what was going on behind the scenes with the election, but other than saying there were dirty tricks and aggressive demands of the GPW election that were not required of any other sub-group of GPEW, I can't give any further information. Sorry.

The women involved on the GC side were complete sheros but that's not enough to withstand the dirty tricks brigade.

QueenoftheAir · 03/01/2021 19:44

They should know their place, as Twitter users are currently pointing out to Emma Bateman

I just had a quick look at her Twitter timeline. OMG - it's as if the TRAs can't understand that she was elected - so quite a lot of GP members wanted her as Co-Chair. She stated her views clearly beforehand as part of the campaigning process, and was elected into the post.

So there are a whole lot of TRAs - actually MRAs - who are anti-democratic. It's deeply shocking.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 03/01/2021 18:44

Technical ishoos? Actually I thought it was to do with the signing up process but it ended up being the same. @GreenieFingers?

CrossPurposes · 03/01/2021 18:25

and I don't think it was ever explained why they had to be re-run

Good point. Why was it rerun? Anybody know?

TheDuchessOfEarl · 03/01/2021 18:20

DH and I ended our joint GP membership yesterday. Him for different reasons, but the whole KB thing was behind my decision. I voted in the initial elections which then went poof (and I don't think it was ever explained why they had to be re-run) and then to vote again I had to declare that I "identify as a woman". I didn't want to make that declaration because I don't identify as one, I am one, but I knew it was the only way I was able to vote.

The GP can fuck right off. How can they ever be credible in terms of the science of climate change when they don't seem to understand the science of sex?

I genuinely have no clue who I can vote for from now on. If Starmer ever comes out and lets us know what a woman is, that makes Labour a possibility, but he's had a long time now to make that statement and has remained tight lipped. I can't/won't ever vote for the Tories and the LibDems are a no too.

Why is it so hard to publicly accept that women and transwomen are completely different and that each have their own issues? I despair.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 03/01/2021 14:52

"Time and tide will wait for no wo-man"

NeurotreeWenceslas · 03/01/2021 14:48

This song very much springs to mind.

(Love billy nomates, clearly v feminist from a few other songs and interviews.)

MichelleofzeResistance · 03/01/2021 14:41

Can I just add straight, educated, affluent and able bodied in there too?

Needmoresleep · 03/01/2021 14:21

I thought intersectionality was supposed to help ensure less represented groups had a voice. However with the Greens we now have:

Young greens - dominated by mainly white men
LGBT+++ - dominated by mainly white men
Green Women - dominated by mainly white men.

Yes women will be there, but heaven forbid they act as anything other than servants for the men. They should know their place, as Twitter users are currently pointing out to Emma Bateman. Woe betide if they fail to give validation to the men.

ThePankhurstConnection · 03/01/2021 12:06

@KittyValentine

Was this the one who claims to be solo-poly (no me neither) -amorous and was excited to join a Green Party shagging club?
Solo-poly? Doesn't that mean 'desperate will accept anything and everything'?

Fae can sod off with faes womanly tears.

QueenoftheAir · 03/01/2021 10:39

Yes, it's ridiculous, isn't it @Needmoresleep - all the guff about non-binary (when really they mean gender non-conforming) but the ideology extremists have created and rely upon an extreme and inaccurate binary, such as oestrogen v testosterone

Needmoresleep · 02/01/2021 21:45

Yes, and I was sort of joking. It’s as if people slept through GCSE biology, so oestrogen is an opposite of testosterone, rather than both being part of complex hormonal systems. And female is a sort girly giggly frilly dress wearing opposite of male (strong butch and hunky).

Perhaps a useful focus for Green Women would be to get something through at the next conference. Women need to be defined. I would go for the legal one, ie female plus those with GRCs. There is no point in any separate group if people are able to self-id.

Or parity. So anyone can self-id as BAME, young or LGBT+. (I spotted a couple of tweets by one of Kat’s supporters which were clearly racist, misogynistic and ageist, complaining about rich, so presumably older, white women, as if some people get to identify, and others are identified.) Actually I suspect that the women’s group is not alone, and there will be some green LGBs who would claim their group is now a bewildering mix of NBs etc and that they feel unrepresented as the focus has shifted to trans. And that a frequent common denominator are young greens.

QueenoftheAir · 02/01/2021 19:41

Why not try testosterone. Assuming it is effectively opposite to oestrogen

Interesting thing about testosterone. Women have testosterone in our bodies. Good female friend of mine had all sorts of weird physical symptoms - tests showed she was low on testosterone.
