What is "Girl Mode"

A non question for actual women. What is "girl mode"?
To me it's a very youth orientated fetishy definition which feels a bit like My Little Pony.

I stopped calling myself a girl at the point I hit around 20 I think. I dont think of myself as a girl, I think of myself as a woman, especially once I had children.

I think it's odd to describe yourself as a girl if you are a middle aged man. I'm trying to imagine an older woman describing herself as being in "boy mode" and all I can think of is Jimmy Krankee.

That’s not the most unpleasant part of this story. How social services aren’t involved (the ‘parents’ have a little girl).

DrizzleandDamp · 01/01/2021 19:58

“Steph On Knee” that article says, so a young girl on her knees. Sick sick sick. And what child do you know that dresses in a push up bra? I want off the planet.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 01/01/2021 18:20

I get the impression that it means prancing around with swishy skirts and pink sparkles while head tilting and doing a tinkly giggle. You then get your cock out and wank furiously

scentedgeranium · 01/01/2021 18:06

As my midwife so touchingly observed after examining my post partum stitches 'You'll never be a girl again you know'. Cue tears from me and then the quick realisation that I needed to man up.
Girl mode Angry

No don’t check it out. It’s actually worse than you are imagining right now...

ArabellaScott · 30/12/2020 19:07

I recommend not going to check out Stephonknee's youtube channel, btw.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 30/12/2020 19:06

So that is girl mode... (and also a worry).

So the one who is shouting girl mode at the minute needs to come and sit on the haggard, frazzled, old looking mess on the bench next to me.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 30/12/2020 19:01

I won’t click on the link as I’ve not had my dinner yet... does it mention their... ‘close’ relationship with mom and pop? 🤢 How social services haven’t come for their daughter I’ll never know.

NiceGerbil · 30/12/2020 18:45

Yeah I bet 'boy mode' at work and 'girl mode' at home is not uncommon Hmm

FWRLurker · 30/12/2020 18:41

It’s (imo distasteful) shorthand that trans people (of all sexes, Binary and NB) use when they are attempting to be read as female by people they encounter (or at least signaling so hard they want to be read this way that people will comply even if they don’t pass at all). Boy-mode being the opposite and something you see a lot from trans people of both sexes. Usually involves leaning very heavily into stereotypes. Pre-everything Trans women will often say they are still boymode at work, or only girl mode at home, and things like that. Trans men the opposite

I do agree it’s unsettling to use boy and girl if someone is a full grown adult. I admit to still thinking of myself as a “girl” well into my 20s. Past 30 should be banned from using it... :/

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/12/2020 18:39

reminds me of the innocent underage girl porn trope. All wide eyed passivity and helplessness.

Yes, looks so cute to middle-aged men. Who of course look equally cute when they simper and do the little head tilt. Definitely no one’s laughing ...

@heathspeedwell

If he were actually a woman he'd be pushing OAP mode if the pensions age hadn't been changed.

Come to think of it, twirly skirts and glitter were what my DD, an actual female girl, used to call “swish-swish dresses” and “sparklies” and was massively into between the ages of 2 and 3 years old.

I think the PP who said something along the lines of it being a short vacation from the serious job of Being A Man was on the right track.

Sheleg · 30/12/2020 17:12

It's just embarrassing how so many "trans girls" think womanhood is spinny skirts and glitter. In reality it's - where to even start? Weepy c-section scars, monthly hormone maelstrom followed by a week of bleeding, gynae medical care being an absolute joke, being the main victims of sexual assault and DV, getting paid less, getting shat on by every element of the capitalist structure... The list is honestly endless.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 30/12/2020 17:10

I’ve just had to break it to my sister that she was supplied with a faulty girl mode switch and had been delivered in boy mode. She isn’t impressed...

NiceGerbil · 30/12/2020 16:56

Oh I get it. They flare out if you spin around.

Like women do in adverts for slimming products/ sanitary towels, but not actually in real life.

Flapjak · 30/12/2020 16:34

I really think the wokestars in hollywood should be demanding that eddie izzard plays tom cruise or brad pitts love interest in their next films or even better a bond girl as he can do 'girl' mode so well

VulvaPerson · 30/12/2020 15:39

@despairenting

See, I have no problem with a grown man enjoying playing with glitter, make-up and clothes, especially if he grew up in a time with strict gender roles and was never allowed to express himself in that way. I would honestly be really happy to see someone expressing real joy over getting to play around with those things! To be honest, I don't even really care if they get sexually excited while doing so, just as long as they leave actual girls (in the sense of female children) out of it, don't claim to be girls themselves, don't claim that's what being a girl/woman is all about, and don't try to speak for women just because they like glitter. But that's way too much to ask, apparently.
Yup, 100% agree with this.
xxyzz · 30/12/2020 15:28

Funnily enough, re the Jimmy Krankie comment, I was looking up Grace Petrie recently, after she was mentioned online for some offensive comments attacking T**fs. I couldn't figure out who she reminded me of, and then it hit me. Here was an adult woman who had apparently modelled her fashion sense on wee Jimmy! Grin Grin Grin

HecatesCats · 30/12/2020 15:13

I think of Sandy in Grease twirly

bellinisurge · 30/12/2020 15:12

Briefly, in the 80s, when some of these aging dicks were young, there were such things as ra-ra skirts. They were twirly

NiceGerbil · 30/12/2020 15:10

What is a twirly skirt?

Justhadathought · 30/12/2020 15:03

I can't get my head around adults, male or female having "girl mode". I dont really have modes girl or otherwise

Maybe it is when you knowingly and consciously enter into a specific set of stereotypical presentations or activities. A girls' night in might mean a night of drinking prosecco and watching reality TV.
