I follow Jo on Twitter and feel that the GoodLaw project is a needed and good thing when it comes to holding ministers/gov spending to account. He seems to take refuge in the rule of law and facts .... so, so WHY after the recent ruling on puberty blockers is he tweeting and retweeting Trans folk who are sharing (in emotive and extra detail) their experience post ruling. What his deal?? What’s his skin in the game? Looked through some old tweets and he really seems to have come down hard against women’s rights.
Ca anyone explain his deal here?

A kitchen in a shade of green which was a bit marmite. Still undecided.

@Winesalot

I think Malcolm Clark has it.

I hadn’t read about the PB sheep trials.

That thread is superbly written (and the results of the sheep trial disturbing)

Oliver Burkeman had a very funny tweet about Maugham.

(The phrase is "tilting at windmills", in case anyone's wondering.)

But the denial continues. Unless it is exactly a long running study based on trans people, nothing will be considered sound enough evidence

Even when its done by "approved " people its still not good enough if it doesn't say whats wanted. I mean when the BBC or guardian cant put a positive spin on it then you know its bad...

Winesalot · 16/12/2020 08:49

That sheep thing is fascinating.

It really is. I find the simplicity of the memory test interesting. If the PBs did this in sheep, there must be an underreporting of these side effects. How much of the negative mental health of these children and teens is contributed by these drugs? Yes, of course these children have MH issues, but how much of the lack of improvement in MH is directly related to cognitive issues from the drugs.

But the denial continues. Unless it is exactly a long running study based on trans people, nothing will be considered sound enough evidence. Yet, as has been said, who is willing to put distressed children through as a control group.

[quote EwwSprouts]"a better understanding" my take on his comments eg
"Jolyon Maugham QC, the Good Law Project’s founder. “Because these questions that the court has decided around…are not questions in relation to which judges have any expertise, right? The notion that a treatment should be denied by judges...just seemed like madness.”

luckily that that was not what the case was about

the case was about consent and whether children have the capacity to consent to a treatment which has long and far reaching effects e.g. loss of fertility

it was not about whether the treatment itself was medically appropriate.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2020 08:29

That sheep thing is fascinating.

We should be used to these forever moving goal posts though. Never the right day, time, source, colour pen, person, there seems to be an impossible set of hoops to jump through to present facts

It's a well known fact that Murdoch is in thrall to Big Vagina. The greatest trick feminists ever pulled was distracting everyone with Page 3 girls and contriving to make it look like the media is dominated by men (the 60/30 male/female representation ratio in newspapers is one of their major 'double bluff' achievements). They just didn't count on a campaigning tax lawyer rumbling them.

😂😂😂

Only 15% of QCs are women (despite women and men qualifying in equal numbers), and that number is reflected in the make up of Deveraux chambers.

But yes, a shadowy cabal of feminists controls judges and the media.

RedToothBrush · 16/12/2020 07:54

Does Jo Maughan have a weird Rod Hull fixation? Does he want to revive the series with him as the star for 2020? Is his windmill pink? Didn't Rod Hull have a vendetta against an witch who was the baddie?

Hull used Emu to create a kind of gleeful havoc, while not accepting blame for it.

(Wikipedia even tells me that the kids from pink windmill were from the Corona Stage school too!)

gets coat

merrymouse · 16/12/2020 07:20

It’s all so confusing. If privileged feminists run the media, how did the BBC pay scandal happen?

Collidascope · 16/12/2020 06:41

Twitter has broken his brain

I think this is true. There's a certain kind of person who really doesn't do well on Twitter, which isn't surprising when every topic is dressed in the language of outrage and aggression.

PlantMam · 16/12/2020 00:44

A better understanding of living in a Windmill?

Or of avoiding paying the proles the half million quid he owes?

SirVixofVixHall · 16/12/2020 00:38

A better understanding of what it feels like to brutally kill a trapped and terrified animal maybe ?

PlantMam · 16/12/2020 00:31

@EwwSprouts

We'll have to wait and see. He has passion & ego and a better understanding than the judges.
A better understanding of what?
Redsquareoctopus · 15/12/2020 23:39

He’s bizarre. Absolutely devoid of the capacity to walk in another’s shoes.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/12/2020 22:34

I also wonder how flexible his thinking is. Battering a trapped animal to death rather than getting help to free it, was a bizarre response, as well as a disgusting one. He seems lacking in empathy, and absolutely certain of his own righteousness.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/12/2020 22:32

He’s a dick
Yes, he is.

Helmetbymidnight · 15/12/2020 22:13

how do you mean a 'better' understanding?
