The last 5 minutes is the best bit.

I’m amazed she outright says the Tavistock’s big mistake was being too cautious Confused

And that she says she knows she can’t be held responsible because gendergp follows WPATH (despite having already been suspended by the GMC and having to staff her business with shadowy, unnamed ‘doctors’)

unwashedanddazed · 04/12/2020 09:17

If the primary purpose of blockers is to prevent body development then they are simply the precursor to wrong sex hormones. The assumption is that the child will go on to fully medically transition. At least it can be said that Webberley is honest about this, which is more than can be said for most gender clinics promoting this treatment who blather on about 'pausing'.

Adults transitioning appear to be able to make a myriad of choices about how far to take medicalisation, or not to medicalise at all. But children are being put on the path to full hormones and surgery from the onset of puberty.

unwashedanddazed · 04/12/2020 08:55

Interesting how she rubs her hands together in an unconscious demonstration of her motivation when talking about getting contributions to the fund at the end.

Also interesting when she says puberty blockers are not about 'breathing space' but foremost about preventing body development. Space to think is apparently a secondary benefit.

My impression of her body language in the clip;

she seems like a woman of very moderate intelligence, from a psychologically unchallanging background, who is begining to have the dawning realisation that her comfortable self image (and livestyle) is in serious danger of colliding with a reality she had not bargined for.

ie; she is looking slightly scared.

@Passmeabottlemrjones

Apparently it will also have "ramifications" on under 18s being able to consent to anything, like voting or driving a car.

Did Marianne actually say this? 😂😂😂

I didn't watch the whole video. So Marianne is Gender GPs lead counsellor, counselling children on transition?

Apparently so.
BettyDuKeiraBellisMyShero · 03/12/2020 19:48

It is heartening to see a growing number of transpeople who are talking about how mermaids has gone too far. But they are still few and far between

I listened to Rose of Dawn’s recent livestream on the ruling from the JR while doing chores earlier. Rose manages to be both sensible and amusing.

Passmeabottlemrjones · 03/12/2020 19:37

Also did Helen Webberly really compare going onto puberty blockers to choosing which non-compulsory GCSEs to take?

Whaaaaa?!

From teh BBC article:

'HIW chief executive Dr Kate Chamberlain said: "Unregistered healthcare services pose a risk to patient safety as they are not subject to the same level of scrutiny as registered services."'

ArabellaScott · 03/12/2020 19:27

@LizzieSiddal

I wonder if the GMC would be interested in what she's up to?
Encouraging other doctors to go against the ruling, for example.
OhHolyJesus · 03/12/2020 18:48

Dr Helen Webberley was added as a director of My Web Doctor 09306407 in Oct 2020.

And terminated as a director Nov last year.

What is going on?!

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 03/12/2020 18:24

Interesting point One. The Times reported on potential continuing ties between the two organisation in October. Sorry don't have a share token:

Article

Mermaids^ removed a GenderGP link from its website in May last year. However, The Times has seen redacted screenshots taken this year from forums on the Mermaids site, in which parents discussed experiences with GenderGP^.

OneEpisode · 03/12/2020 17:54

The Facebook live made it clear that GenderGP still has ties to Mermaids...

Not quite so dormant as we thought.

And the HK connection simply leads back to Gender GP? www.gendergp.com/statement-from-harland-international-ltd-trading-as-gendergp/

Where are they paying tax?

Worth noting their defamation statement at the bottom on that link.

OldCrone · 03/12/2020 16:26

@MondayYogurt

How much is she making from all this? Can we see the company financials?
Gender GP are now part of a larger company based in (I think) Hong Kong.

Before that, they were linked to a company in Belize (via Mike Webberley).

I had a good look at the accounts for their various companies on the Companies House site last year and couldn't find any accounts with any money going through them. The GenderGP accounts are all for a 'dormant company'.

@BaronessWrongCrowd

Five years of data from a discredited business who is fronted by a former GP? (I say former because I believe they were struck off by the GMC). Hmmm
Not struck off, but currently suspended.

PearPickingPorky · 03/12/2020 15:20

If the NHS/GMC etc cannot get a handle on her after this then it shows that neither are fit for purpose.

She is completely out of control.

OvaHere · 03/12/2020 15:01

Choosing GCSEs unwisely may have ramifications on future choices, but only to a limited and never insuperable extent.

The only situation I can think of where a wrong GCSE choice (given the limited options anyway) might have an impact is languages. Not having done Spanish through to GCSE might be a barrier to choosing it at A level. Although further education in my experience is fairly flexible so maybe not even in that situation.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/12/2020 14:47

”Marianne is encouraging that people take the GP pack to their GPs to "chip away at the resistance".
Resistance to riding roughshod over safeguarding?!

There must be legal repercussions to pushing against such a clear judicial decision surely?

Extraordinary. Thank you Rogd & Eva

Under 18s mostly aren't allowed to vote in serious elections.
Unsupervised driving requires having passed a pretty rigorous test.

DickKerrLadies · 03/12/2020 14:32

Gender GP are now collecting their data from five years and publishing them.

One can only wonder why they didn't feel the need to do this before the JR... Hmm
