For five threads!!!!

But it was an own goal then. Because it really was clear the total disregard for women and girls. It felt like we were dealing with someone who had a mental illness themselves most of the time. The lack of awareness was off the planet.

CaraDuneRedux · 04/02/2021 09:58

Same here - sorry, fat fingers!

Oh ive spelt micheal wrong...apologies

Its my dads name as well...luckily i call him daddy 😀

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/02/2021 09:56

@Winesalot

Michael. Was that person a troll all along? Did you know they had a history of trolling us? Or did they not even contact you to ‘not delete posts’ and that was a lie too?
Curiouser and curiouser

Can you tell us micheal im very nosy

And that poster kept it going for 4 threads without anyone being very suspicious (or not suspicious enough to feel they could mention it on the thread)

CaraDuneRedux · 04/02/2021 09:56

@MichealMumsnet

Thank you! You have no idea what a relief it is to know they've been banned (and that my instinct that they were not who they said they were was on the money).

@MichaelMumsnet

Was that the reference to PBP?

There was some good posts there though from people who don’t normally post here. It is such a shame to lose those as people really put themselves out there and deserve to have those experiences witnessed.

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:50

@CaraDuneRedux

Very sexualised abusive language.

That's what freaked me out. I genuinely felt threatened by that poster. And I got a very strong sense towards the end (usual disclaimer: no-one can ever tell on the internet) that they were not who they purported to be.

Hi all - that poster was a returning troll, here to cause havoc on the thread. We've banned them now.
Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:47

I saw the original flaps diatribe but I did skim.

I also saw the mantra being shouted and that bigoty word started being used before I turned off my phone.

I suspect mn didn’t want to sort out the mess. Particularly the one where the poster who’d requested them not to intervene started abusing people.

The inference that their child was being misgendered, I never saw that. I saw they were correctly sexed which the poster agreed with. So, I don’t know. I think that poster couldn’t handle the thought they were enabling a entitled person to simply feel even more entitled and that they encouraged it. Because said person thrives on the ego feeding the parents have started. Started because of a misogynistic elevation of all males above women.

CaraDuneRedux · 04/02/2021 09:45

I do wonder what kind of female lurker this could possibly work on. I have been using communal changing rooms since I was a teenage girl. Telling me that middle-aged women must be predators for being aware of typical leisure centre layout and wanting to keep the changing rooms single-sex is just absurd.

DARVO, innit?

I had an amazingly strong sense of "accusations are admissions" from that poster.

Straight from twitter. People used to try to embarrass Helen Staniland into silence using the same techniques.

It was actually relatively early in the thread, but very revealing.

I happened to wake up about 2 and by that time it was really weird - brand new poster shouting TWAW and repeatedly shouting "bigot" every time women talked about their actual experiences.

Then first thing (when I got up to walk the dog) more level headed posters were posting links countering the "it never happens" narrative. I suspect that was what really did it.

I mean seriously, waving a vagina in someone’s face... didn’t know they were detachable to be able to do that. I did like the answer that it must be a prolapsed one then. (In that macabre way but prolapses are so horrendous)

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:33

I mean... how does anyone see someone’s vag when people are getting changed.

It was like a MRA had started posting using incel language.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/02/2021 09:32

It did take a very disturbing turn cara 💐

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/02/2021 09:31

Just about everywhere ive been in the last few years has been communal

The local swimming pool has cubicles but they are not ceiling to floor so males have been known to stare over the top and my friend was photographed under the bottom

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:31

I was skim reading the last few pages cara or I missed it if it happened after I stopped for the night, I didn’t see that it was directed at you specifically. I am sorry that they did that.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/02/2021 09:29

@PotholeParadies

It all went a bit twitter, Rufus. People arguing whether communal changing rooms even existed, making wild accusations about the character of women who would use leisure facilities with communal changing rooms, shouts of TWAW and so on.

I engaged and asked if I could identify as irish and get an Irish passport and then went to bed before I got a response. And now, of course, the thread's been deleted.

Yeah I caught a bit of the changing rooms palaver

THAT was weird, any female using a communal changing room being of very loose morals obviously...

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:27

No pot I did not see that.

As I have said. There was too many direct examples on thread 5. The question brought out people’s experiences.... that is not allowed to happen. Not allowed to stand. Because how can activists claim there is never an incident if women start actually documenting their experiences and how those got ignored by authorities or were not reported in media. They just can’t have that happen.

CaraDuneRedux · 04/02/2021 09:26

Thing is... there's internalised misogyny, then there's just plain and simple misogyny. I know which one I felt I was on the receiving end of with the sexually abusive language directed towards me personally.

But we're not allowed to say this explicitly. I feel like I'm being gaslit. Subject to sexually abusive posts from a poster who is unlikely to match up in real life with the persona they've so carefully constructed online. Yet the thread gets pulled for a bullshit reason with no acknowledgement of the sexually abusive language from that poster.

OP posts:
PotholeParadies · 04/02/2021 09:24

Winesalot Did you see the excellent posts about the impact they'd witnessed on local Muslim women, who had stopped attending the women's swimming sessions?

Biscuitsanddoombar · 04/02/2021 09:21

Yes. I stopped posting on thread 4 but I was reading & I did wonder what would happen as it became increasingly hard for them to justify what they were doing beyond ‘my child first & fuck all the others’. The cognitive dissonance was just getting stronger & stronger so not surprised it ended in a meltdown.

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 09:20

The new poster was around midnight.

Did you see after about 00:45 Potholes? I couldn’t stay awake. It was a complete shambles then. But some really good posts as usual too.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/02/2021 09:17

Agree, Winesalot
