It is why I feel that even social transitioning can fix children onto a path that takes them down a medical route. How difficult it must be to U turn from 'I'm definitely the opposite sex, I was born in the wrong body' to 'I now realise I just needed time to come to terms with the way puberty changed my body/the way I feel about myself and how I fit in the world'. Especially if everyone has told you how stunning and brave you and your family are for being/ allowing you to be your authentic self etc.

Social media and fame certainly cement this narrative in a very chilling way.

I do query where they and the world will be in 20 years.

TackyTriceratops · 24/11/2020 18:07

Just googled this person and all I get are bikini clad posturing pics. Confused

tackiestones · 24/11/2020 16:38

And all the brain development that only happens in puberty, how can that be ok to skip? It’s not just the loss of sexual and reproductive function, they’re not going to be fully developed mentally either. That’s absolutely horrendous.

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/11/2020 13:33

The phrase “wrong puberty” is outrageous on so many levels but it’s the only justification I’ve seen for this type of intervention on pre-adolescent children
How long before we’re told it was only a metaphor?

Delayed puberty can actually be the sign of one of many quite severe problems/illnesses/diseases

The idea we would willingly inflict the symptoms of something so serious onto a healthy body, when anyone else would be seeking medical attention is astounding.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/11/2020 12:50

An investigative journalist who spent time tracking the money for all this stuff would have a cracking piece and win all the awards and save a shed load of misery.

They'd have to get it published in The Times, of course.

tackiestones · 24/11/2020 12:07

Back in my 20s when I was questioning my identity and all that I wondered if being a trans man would solve my problems. The thing that stopped me was the knowledge that high doses of testosterone is harmful to the female body and surgical options are horrendous for females. So I made my peace and desisted by my 30s.

It’s a public health disaster that young people and their parents aren’t aware of the likely consequences of these experimental procedures.

Why aren’t the press asking that classic question: who benefits?

The hormones are also experimental.

Sharron Davis said on a FILIA podcast that she knows East German athletes who died prematurely, who were also given testosterone.

We know that female bodies need oestrogen - that is why you get HRT if you have premature menopause, because otherwise your chances are increased for cardiovascular disease, dementia and osteoporosis.

The whole thing needs a medical ethics examination.

So there is not enough flesh to turn inside out to create a "Neo vagina" and they have to add stomach lining or colon, which, as you can imagine, isn't ideal

I think also one of the options was also a tissue expander in the scrotum.

@nauticant

I had no idea how often these surgeries were botched.

The key thing to understand is that the surgeries for males fall into two types, surgery carried out on males who have been through an undisrupted puberty, and this is the more established practice with more knowledge about likely outcomes, and surgery carried out on young males who have been puberty blocked. It's this latter group which is the most experimental stuff of all with surgeons making it up for each new patient that goes under the knife. It's also this latter group where, arguably, you can say the consent obtained is the least informed.

Just to expand upon this for those who haven't been farming, the reason it's so experimental for these puberty blocked males is because their penises haven't grown.

So there is not enough flesh to turn inside out to create a "Neo vagina" and they have to add stomach lining or colon, which, as you can imagine, isn't ideal.

The fact that this child abuse is not only tolerated but applauded via shows such as I Am Jazz is utterly horrifying. Future generations will look back on this in the same way we look back at Romans putting babies in jars.

There have already been a handful of xx women who have had uterine transplants and as twaw it is discriminatory if they are refused the procedure as they too suffer from AUFI (absolute uterine factor infertility)

I wonder why a transwoman might not be born with a uterus?

tackiestones · 23/11/2020 19:29

I had no idea how often these surgeries were botched. I knew that the dilation regime was difficult to sustain and there could be serious complications but it hadn't occurred to me that the doctors would refuse to answer calls and that patients had no recourse. I thought the doctors wanted the best for their patients, however shaky I find their ideological reasoning.

This is a disaster.

Article today from Megan Murphy about the Canadian C-6 bill that means all school children will be taught their parents 'chose' their sex and their gender identity might be different from that. It will be illegal to do anything but affirm this narrative.

Oh I really wish I hadn't gone farming Sad Envy

HollywoodTease · 23/11/2020 16:13

There's a thread about Ting, Bowers and a couple of other SRS surgeons over at the fruit farm.

Includes lots of first-hand accounts of aftercare etc from their patients.

It's pretty gruesome reading Sad

GivesNoFox · 23/11/2020 15:58

I think this has already been posted but just as a refresher, Jess Ting commissioned a documentary to show how much of a saint he is through his pioneering work:

In my experience of this board, the contributing TRAs and their allies would like to keep the focus solely on toilets.

And 'alignment' with the far right in the US. I.E. the idea that one group thinks x is a wrong for y reason that they're the same as another group that thinks x is wrong for z reason. Absolutely no nuance whatsoever, just mud slinging to denounce wrong think and whip up hysteria. I notice certain well known leftists are now chucking 'alignment' with Viktor Orban's Hungary into the mix. Such is the bluntness of their approach. Seems to have worked with Amnesty in Ireland though, the head of which proving yesterday that he's done zero due diligence on false and libellous claims that LGB Alliance are a 'far right' organisation.

@NotBadConsidering

As well as the lack of acknowledgment in articles like this of the incontrovertible harm caused by the pathway, it’s always worth noting that threads about this sort of article never seem to attract our friendly contributing TRAs to tell us how good it is. And there’s never any screenshots of these sorts of threads posted on Twitter about how horrible we all are not wanting kids to have such life-destroying treatments.

It’s almost as if there’s no justification...

In my experience of this board, the contributing TRAs and their allies would like to keep the focus solely on toilets. There seems to be little wish to engage in other, perhaps more difficult topics.

On the topic at hand, the idea that a 'neo' vagina can be considered any way 'fully functional' is abhorrent. In addition to what everyone else has already said, real vaginas do not need daily dilation and are not subject to the truly awful side effects that some 'neo vaginas' are (eg colon leakage into the 'neo vagina').

I watched a video of Blaire White interviewing Emily. Emily comes across as a perfectly nice person, as does Blaire. However, I did find it uncomfortable to watch two male-bodied people essentially discussing what it is like to 'be' a woman.

It's like trans narrative bingo.

It's fascinating how they will repeat the same justifications, word for word, when we all know that social contagion has no part in the choice to transition so young.

BaseDrops · 22/11/2020 14:13

The being on onlyfans thing.

I (from a UK perspective) can’t get my head around the overlap between transgender and sex work. I can see that in other countries there are employment issues, cost of healthcare issues but it still doesn’t explain someone like the one in the article who obviously has financial support and access to healthcare. The only reason I can come up with is about external validation of their ability to be seen as sexually desirable “woman”. Feminists try to teach girls and women that your sexually desirable ranking is not a measure of your worth. A great deal of MTF dialogue seems to fixate on where someone sits on the would attractive straight men want to shag me scale. I suppose it could be perceived that there is a definitive tick in that box if men pay to see flesh or access it.

It’s all so deeply unhealthy and from a male perspective.

Whatwouldscullydo · 22/11/2020 14:10

That's definitely why schools should stay out of it really, instead their "training" means they feel they can do it all behind parents' back.

I mean how do you change your mind when 1499 other people are involved in it,

NewlyGranny · 22/11/2020 14:09

If you stop to think about people whose lives have zoomed in to focus on a single, overriding issue, look at the politicians/activists for the Leave campaign. What happens to them after they win the referendum? And what is NF's goal in life now?

It's hard to impossible to turn back from such a cause or carry on after achieving it because it can totally fill your life.

Thingybob · 22/11/2020 14:08

Full set with uterus, ovaries, female pelvic structure, that menstruates and can gestate and birth a baby through a muscular birth canal?

There is currently a big push in 'trans medicine' for procedures that will give a more functional female physiology.

This was a presentation at the recent WPATH conference.

There have already been a handful of xx women who have had uterine transplants and as twaw it is discriminatory if they are refused the procedure as they too suffer from AUFI (absolute uterine factor infertility)
