www.rightwingwatch.org/post/rick-wiles-calls-on-pennsylvanians-to-rise-up-and-chase-transgender-health-secretary-out-of-the-state/

The Pennsylvania health secretary who is trans has introduced a mask mandate. The response of this right wing news site is this.

“Chase that freak out of the state,” Wiles bellowed. “Chase it out of the state. Rise up in Pennsylvania, and chase that freak out of the state! You don’t have to tolerate this stuff.”

This “news organisation” has been invited to Trump’s White House multiple times.

raskin.house.gov/media/press-releases/24-representatives-demand-white-house-deny-trunews-press-credentials

Just a few weeks ago, Rick Wiles asked his guest whether the “transgender movement gets its origin in Zionism."

I know many GC MNers try to apply British views to America and say they’d back Republicans because of the trans issue. I think many are unaware or naive about how much more regressive the right wing is in general and how their anti trans positions often go hand in hand with racism, anti-Semitism, anti-science conspiracy theories, etc.

It's so bloody boring being told who we should believe, or listen to, or which other websites we should boycott or never mention, how ignorant we all are of the 'reality' of the motives of others, how everyone will think we're meanies if we watch a certain video, or read an article in an unapproved journal and blah blah blah.

Anyone would think we aren't fully mature human beings in our own right, completely capable of forming an opinion. It's a wonder they allow us to vote.

Just fuck off.

PurpleHoodie · 20/11/2020 13:20

I got to picture 30 and instantly thought "House from Beetlejuice owned by Norman Bates".

MichelleofzeResistance · 20/11/2020 13:16

………. I haven't noticed that, I have to say. If it's any reassurance, I'm British however, without a US vote, so I don't think anyone needs to mind much about who I'd potentially back. It's also a bit of a stretch to assume that considering who I might potentially vote for in a country I don't live in and don't have a vote in takes up much of my time and headspace.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 20/11/2020 13:10

And apologies for the “wrongthink”

You’ve missed the point completely.

That post referred to YOU being the one to come on here and castigate us for our “wrongthink”, you muppet.

You’re Big Brother. Not Winston.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 20/11/2020 13:08

I read about it in the Independent so I’m informed enough.

😂😂😂

Aw c’mon! You’re making your trolling a little too obvious now!

NotTerfNorCis · 20/11/2020 12:55

It's a good point that there's a culture gap between Britain and America that we might not be aware of. It can divide the left as well. In a GC Facebook group I belong to, some posters kept complaining about racism. When asked for examples, the one they gave was posters objecting to the 'Karen' insult. To them, 'Karen' purely means a racist woman. But outside America - very often within America, now - it's a demeaning term for any assertive woman or girl.

BettyDuKeiraBellisMyShero · 20/11/2020 12:15

No one is ‘entertaining American churches as a serious option for GC feminists’ tho?

I wish we could post gifs on Mumsnet:

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 20/11/2020 12:05

The parties are not equally dangerous to women, minorities, etc. So because one shares your public position on trans - and I can assure you their private position is much closer to what I posted in the OP based on my experience with American churches - doesn’t mean you should entertain it as a serious option for GC feminists.

Yeah, we know.

DeaconBoo · 20/11/2020 11:58

*at least two posters

persistentwoman · 20/11/2020 11:58

The GC/American Right alignment nonsense is just another squirrel. Look over there 🐿

This ^^^^

DeaconBoo · 20/11/2020 11:58

Ok now you're not even trying to hide the ignorant patronising OP - I'm a bit embarrassed for you tbh.
And the OP sat on that for two months, mulled it over, started a thread with a tenuous link between those posts and some crackpot transphobe, and doesn’t have time to address questions raised on the thread they started.

Awesome.

Weirdly, it seems that at least posters have the exact same sort of posting style? No time to address the real questions but loads of time to tell us right-wing Americans are terrible, cool thanks mate.

SophocIestheFox · 20/11/2020 11:55

but the guy in your post is clearly an extremist- did you not read the article?? so you’re saying that we have to put clear water between the moderates and the extremists, and to demonstrate this, you put up
an article by an extremist that everybody here would be extremely keen to have an ocean of clear water’s distance from.

i don’t get it.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 20/11/2020 11:54

There are a lot of posts here that aren’t acknowledging there’s a bit of ignorance and laziness due to distance - well it’s not my country but they speak my language and I read about it in the Independent so I’m informed enough. You’re not.

You are though yeah?

UppityPuppity · 20/11/2020 11:53

Agree with PPs - I haven't read on these boards any support for Trump and the right of US politics. What I have read is fear of them and fear of the Democrats - who as far as I am concerned re women's rights - are equally malevolent.

I do not trust the democrats with their ideology that -
supports male inclusion in female sports which will lead to female injury/ death (rugby/boxing) and exclusion.
-pretends progressiveness and does so by erasing and dehumanizing woman/motherhood to 'black birthing bodies'.
-considers anything distinct and necessary for women/girls to be unmentionable and transphobic.

The democrats are equally misogynist - the difference is that they think that they are not. Under them - all women's rights are under threat. In the hands of people - who consider women and the female body to be unmentionable and transphobic - abortion rights are equally under threat.

The result to women's right will be the same - just the journey and the actors will be different.

HecatesCats · 20/11/2020 11:48

Is that you jj? Because this all feels really familiar.

turnitonagain · 20/11/2020 11:44

And apologies for the “wrongthink” but if you’re intelligent women then you need to understand the differences between fringe - eg random BLM activists saying they want to destroy the nuclear family - and an organisation that is invited to the White House.

The parties are not equally dangerous to women, minorities, etc. So because one shares your public position on trans - and I can assure you their private position is much closer to what I posted in the OP based on my experience with American churches - doesn’t mean you should entertain it as a serious option for GC feminists.

This is a good point and a reason why otherwise reasonable women shouldn’t get involved with it.

HecatesCats · 20/11/2020 10:46

She writes so well Tartrazine, sharp as a tack and amusing with it:

American readers: If you think being stuck in a culture war is bad, imagine being stuck in someone else’s.

The GC/American Right alignment nonsense is just another squirrel. Look over there 🐿

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 20/11/2020 10:44

@ErrolTheDragon

I've not RTFT... I got as far as I know many GC MNers try to apply British views to America and say they’d back Republicans because of the trans issue.

...And called bullshit. I'm not sure I've noticed any GC MNers doing any such thing. The overwhelming position - and in relation to U.K. politics - is feeling politically homeless.

The OP is not posting in good faith.

Agreed.

And, OP, actually we already knew this.

Anyone who wants equality for women, even if they are GC, should be deeply distrustful of the American right.

We know very well that women’s rights are under threat from the right. What you perhaps don’t realise is that it cuts both ways.

Anyone who wants equality for women should also be deeply distrustful of the American “left” (ie the Democrats). Because we all know how they’re rushing to throw women’s rights under the bus too, just from a different directions. Don’t we?

So what exactly is your point?

FloralBunting · 20/11/2020 10:43

What a load of old cobblers.

EyeRollForever · 20/11/2020 10:31

Perfectly articulated @SophocIestheFox

"Also re: the problem of taking a UK view of American issues- totally agree. The issue as I see, however, is that it is the export of a very American version of social justice that has distorted the debate in the UK. Critical theory, as it relates to race and gender, is a product of the American colleges and it translates very, very badly into the UK. It is, in its own way, extremely and ironically colonial."

Kemi Badenoch MP gave a brilliant speech on this recently, specifically as it relates to race and racism.

persistentwoman · 20/11/2020 10:28

@NotBadConsidering

It’s not even two posters. It’s one person saying they’d seriously consider voting for Trump and they wouldn’t be surprised if they won, and one person saying they agree, which I read as they agree he might win.

And the OP sat on that for two months, mulled it over, started a thread with a tenuous link between those posts and some crackpot transphobe, and doesn’t have time to address questions raised on the thread they started.

Awesome.

This post's worth repeating (amongst the many).
Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 20/11/2020 10:27

That house! So much CGI, Christmas and golf.

This comment made me laugh: It’s as if a very rich, very lonely person got suckered into joining a Christmas themed MLM and just kept buying stock themselves so they didn’t get booted out of the Whatsapp group run by their upline consultant.

Beamur · 20/11/2020 10:22

Errol
I'm inclined to agree.
