www.rightwingwatch.org/post/rick-wiles-calls-on-pennsylvanians-to-rise-up-and-chase-transgender-health-secretary-out-of-the-state/

The Pennsylvania health secretary who is trans has introduced a mask mandate. The response of this right wing news site is this.

“Chase that freak out of the state,” Wiles bellowed. “Chase it out of the state. Rise up in Pennsylvania, and chase that freak out of the state! You don’t have to tolerate this stuff.”

This “news organisation” has been invited to Trump’s White House multiple times.

raskin.house.gov/media/press-releases/24-representatives-demand-white-house-deny-trunews-press-credentials

Just a few weeks ago, Rick Wiles asked his guest whether the “transgender movement gets its origin in Zionism."

I know many GC MNers try to apply British views to America and say they’d back Republicans because of the trans issue. I think many are unaware or naive about how much more regressive the right wing is in general and how their anti trans positions often go hand in hand with racism, anti-Semitism, anti-science conspiracy theories, etc.

So we're judged by the company a man keeps, a man who may or may not share certain opinions with us. That goes both ways then. Look to yourself then OP and constant me-railer. Look to the murderers, the rapists, the abusers, the racists, the politicians that you stand with. Look what's been found out. I neither know nor care about this Harry fella but I will take no lessons from you.

HecatesCats · 25/11/2020 23:58

jj you join thread after thread populated with intelligent women giving you nuanced insight into their thought processes and lived experiences and you never listen. Do you understand how perfectly this replicates the experiences of women in 'real-life' situations. Can you see how women have retreated here because they're not being listened to. I could reel off countless situations in which I may have been given the privilege of speaking, but I haven't been listened to. Because for me it's one of the burdens of being female. Girls in Wales are saying they don't want to use mixed sex toilets but no one wants to listen. Female prisoners say they don't want to be housed with male born inmates but no one listens. Not once during the numerous discussions I've observed on here have you taken on board anything anyone has said and used it to advance your thinking. You come here to school, to make propagandist points and repeat ad hominem attacks about GC feminism being aligned with the right etc but you don't listen. There is nothing for us to gain from your straw men and clearly you have no intention of learning anything. Your behaviour is depressingly familiar.

NewlyGranny · 25/11/2020 23:03

Ultimately, it's really simple. Here we are - if you want to know what we think, what we want; don't make up crazy theories and fling baseless accusations about: just ask.

You'd hear a variety of interesting things, though nothing resembling your fevered imaginings. It would make you stop and think. You wouldn't necessarily agree but you'd understand better. You might even learn something new and valuable.

The catch is, you'd have to be ready to actually listen.

VulvaPerson · 25/11/2020 23:03

Also maybe worth pointing out, but maybe not too, that he was not a 'political figure' (is he classed as that now...) when he took the case on anyway. He was literally someone I had never heard of until then, who had been harassed by police for wrongthink.

That said, if he does qualify as a 'polotical figure' now, I may still contibute to any future cases, depending on the circumstances of said case. I KNOW I disagree with Posie on many things, yet I still funded hers also. Because oddly enough, you d not have to agree with everything a person ever does or says in their life, to agree with them on smething else.

VulvaPerson · 25/11/2020 23:00

Possibly because when you help promote and give money to a political figure then you are helping to promote and fund their politics.

Well I disagree with this, but it makes your posts make a lot more sense I guess. IMO I have not contributed to fund his politics, I contributed to help the court case, on a very specific case, IIRC, the funds actually went direct to his lawyer anyway, so he didn't see it? Might be mixing that up with smeone else though, have donated to a few but one of the sites..the cash goes to their representation, not them as such.

No matter though tbh, again, I did not contribute as I think Harry Miller is an angel who agree with me 100% on everyting and is an amazing radfem or anything. It was for the case..so while this event sounds like something I really would want no part in ever, I do not regret contributing to the case one bit really. Sorry.

Isn't it funny that women - feminists in this case - are, at one and the same time, considered so malleable and weak-minded that we must be being told what to think and do by far-right elements in another country, yet be held responsible for the thoughts and actions of an adult male over whom we have neither influence nor control?

How would that even work? The cognitive dissonance must be brain-shattering for the poor soul trying to understand us.

fatblackcatspaw · 25/11/2020 22:32

@VulvaPerson

Its purity politics again really to me. Agreeing wih Harry and supporting his fundraising efforts, as I agree with the cause he is fighting, does not mean I have to agree with everything he says, everything he has ever said, and so on. Also, I cannot expect him to even care about my opinions, just because I sent a bit of cash to his case? I don't own people who I donate to, in any way. Nor should I.

Am I 'disappointed', meh a little maybe? But thats MY issue. And despite me supporting him on other stuff, it really really does not mean I will forever support everything he does, I mean, I might have totally polar opposite opinions to him on everything else, but that still doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to me. I donated for the case, it happened to be Harry on the recieving end of the shody police treatment, yes, but I would have donated to anyone in the same situation tbh, had I the means at the time. I am grateful to Harry for putting himself out there and spreading the word to a bunch of people who would never in a million years have listened if it WAS a feminist talking about the issue. I would not do what he is doing. But, I am not him, nor do I/should I have any control over him, and blaming GC feminists for the actions of a man who is not even a GC feminist is bonkers IMO.

this THIS THIS!

@VulvaPerson

This is a interesting new tactic all the same. DENOUNCE THIS MAN EVERYONE!

I mean, personally I wouldn't(in a million years) do what Harry is doing and would want fuck all to do with the people he is doing it with. What difference this makes to anything though, I don't know, and I know even less why who Harry associates with..is being basically blamed on feminists, funy old world.

This reminds me of the many many thrads we used to get with TRAs imploring us all to denounce Posie, for this reason or another. Its just quite weird to me really

Possibly because when you help promote and give money to a political figure then you are helping to promote and fund their politics. It is not a neutral act. Harry appearing at this event is not a neutral act. He is helping to build a movement that is virulently racist, anti-feminist and anti-LGBT, and if people are still digging for him, retweeting him or supporting him, then they are also not committing a neutral act.
StrippedFridge · 25/11/2020 22:30

@jj1968

I think this is probably relevant to this thread. Harry Miller is appearing at an alt-right conference this weekend alongside Anne_Marie Evans and Carl Benjamin organised by a group which includes Tommy Robinson and Men's Rights Activist Matt O'Connor. It seems the links between the gender critical movement and the far right are growing ever closer.
This board is very leftie. Who are you trying to convince here? You think a load of middle aged women who have been left wing for decades will decide ah well if that person X spoke in the same place as hard right person Y then person X must be hard right? By that logic you are GC jj because you've been on the same platform as Datun and even, debated with her!

jj1968 · 25/11/2020 22:20

Do you demand trans people denounce murders and sex offences by trans people?

Well some people on here certainly do but no I don't. Harry has been given money and heavily promoted by GC feminists. I would expect a trans person who erroneously gave money and support to a group or individual that then turned out to support hostility against LGBT people to condemn them. I just think that's having some basic political integrity.

VulvaPerson · 25/11/2020 22:17

Fairly sure Harry Miller is not a GC feminist. Nor a feminist at all come to think of it, I thought his issue was with ridiculous 'non crimes' being recorded and free speech issues? Didn't know he transformed into a radfem!

Thelnebriati · 25/11/2020 22:10

Do you demand all Muslims denounce acts of violence by Muslims?

And they have enjoyed a significant amount of both support and funding from gender critical feminists. Surely you must feel betrayed to now see one of them actively participating with an event promoting horrifying misogynists like Carl Benjamin. Almost as if Harry has just used feminists to raise his profile and pay for his court case before revealing his true colours. Of course given he had previously donated money to Tommy Robinson this should perhaps have been more evident from the start.

@SophocIestheFox

I have no idea what your special interests are, JJ, much as you have no idea what my politics are.

I’m a feminist. My interest in this topic is woman centred. You don’t get that, you never will, and your silly little insinuations that this makes me right wing are risible. But please, do go on. You’re making such an impact here, really you are Smile

I'm not claiming you are right wing. I'm asking if you condemn a prominent gender critical figure for his active association with a far right and anti feminist organisation?

I'm surprised you find that so difficult. If a prominent trans activist joined an event organised by the far right I would not hesitate in denouncing them as loudly as possible.

@SophocIestheFox

You’re very au fait with what Tommy Robinson gets up to JJ. Not the first time you’ve shoehorned him into a conversation.

You will keep failing to understand that while gender critical feminism and free speech issues have common ground on this topic, they aren’t the same thing, and not everyone who meets on the common ground stays on the common ground. Harry isn’t coming at this from feminism, so for Pete’s sake will you stop lecturing us as if we’re accountable for everything he does?

Repeating this excellent comment for the hard of thinking.
jj1968 · 25/11/2020 21:28

@SophocIestheFox

Mate, I’m not the one keeping up with Tommy Robinson’s appearances 😂
I'll take it thats a no.

Strange that you think its unusual that someone concerned with the growth of the far right might take an interest in what far right figures are up to.

*which if you're interested is in some cases trying to hijack the gender critical movement and turn it into a broader anti LGBT movement.

Harry is an independent human not our child we are not responsible for him and what he does. Its no use running up to us as if we were playground mummies telling us what he's been up to or supposedly up to. i. Don't, Care. I care about the outcome of the case and I donated because it has impacts for US as GC feminists.
