Labour MP Fleur Anderson saying TWAW, change must happen and be kind

Ironically her next tweet is about anti bullying says "it's ok to be different" (which of course it is).

So according to Fleur 'difference' is good, apart from when it relates to the fact that transwomen and women are different.

I'm all for her message that transgender people should not be discriminated against but pretending they are something they are not and losing the true definition of women as a group, that I can't get on board with.

I am lifelong Labour but can't vote for this. When is Keir Starmer going to get off the fence?

@NotBadConsidering

Good on Mimmymum! Maybe that will lead Fleur to this thread so she can realise how stupid she’s being and find some support to make a stand.
Yup.

I don't think TRAs know how much damage they do to their own 'cause' by sending people here.

Violetparis · 20/11/2020 12:42

If Labour won't wade in and stick up for women then they don't deserve to win and won't, because come election time they will look like idiots if they can't describe what a woman is for fear of offending the trans lobby.

SmallPug · 20/11/2020 11:26

It is true that they can’t win. But they do keep wading in by tweeting about trans rights all the time. They’d be better off not doing that and focusing on the issues that need sorting and be glad that the tories had to do the GRA consultation.

RealityNotEssentialism · 20/11/2020 10:55

@Violetparis

I can't recall anyone in the Labour Party who has stood up for Rosie Duffield. Where is Keir Starmer, Jess Phillips, Lisa Nandy, Angela Rayner etc ? Corbyn is over, it's these politicians who have power in the Labour Party now and I am so disappointed and disillusioned with the lot of them.
I think it’s an unwinnable debate at the moment, unfortunately. Anyone who tries to take them on will be labelled as a cruel transphobe and it will draw lots of negative attention. The best tactic is probably to ignore the people calling for the whip to be withdrawn from Rosie. In that sense I don’t really blame Keir Starmer for not getting involved in this. On another note, I don’t think being on social media is a good thing for any politician but I guess it’s a requirement these days. But when you’re on social media, people seem to feel that they own you in some way and they will never leave you alone.

Oh and Lisa Nandy and Angela Rayner are super woke and would have been more likely to side with the TRAs, so it’s probably good that they haven’t said anything. Jess Phillips is already hated by them for being an alleged TERF and obviously they hate Keir Starmer because it’s so awful having a leader capable of winning an election. Wading in on this debate is just going to fuel the fire.

highame · 20/11/2020 10:16

Labour as a party had been drawing level and overtaking the Tories, suddenly JC and followers decide that's too much like success, better stymie that one. So Labour only ahead with their current leader who will see his winning streak plummet once he has to reinstate Corbyn as an MP. Go woke go broke

I despair

But they aren’t right or in power!
Yep.
SmallPug · 20/11/2020 09:10

None of them have. Gutless wonders. The cowardice in politics and the corporate world is astounding.

Lemonyfuckit · 20/11/2020 08:49

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayay

I actually wrote to Fleur when Rosie Duffield was getting abuse and below is a extract of her reply. She's 100% woke.

There is no conflict between trans women’s rights and cis women’s rights – both groups are harmed by structural misogyny. Women’s rights do not become meaningless when our politics recognises that trans women are women. I think that trans women are women and should therefore have the protections afforded to women – albeit that they may have an additional risk of discrimination. This does not detract from women’s rights as is sometimes characterised.

Hmmmm I wrote to her then too but did not get a response. However that response is just a load of old cobblers. She claims that lots of people are writing to her from different viewpoints and she is engaging with them but clearly not, if she can't get past the TWAW dogma then it's hard to have a sensible conversation on the matter.

SunsetBeetch · 20/11/2020 08:28

"We'd rather be in the right than in power." is a strange strategy indeed.

She won by 187 votes. Unbelievably close. Get rid of her and replace her with some woke loser spouting about intersectionality and I guarantee that the Tories will win easily in this constituency next time.

RealityNotEssentialism · 20/11/2020 08:17

Yeah, I am deeply worried about this. While I don’t think the whip should be restored to Jeremy Corbyn, this is likely to provoke an angry backlash from his supporters and they will come after Rosie Duffield as a result. 😞

Also, what these idiots fail to realise is that Rosie’s constituency has always been a Tory stronghold. They had a sitting Tory MP for nearly 30 years. It is surrounded by a sea of blue and UKIP-supporters. She made history when she won by a small margin. Do they honestly think that ousting her isn’t going to mean losing yet another Labour seat? This is what is so infuriating about the momentum people. They’d rather have the Tories win for the sake of their own ideological purity. This woman has said that you have to be female to have a cervix. That is literally the extent of her ‘crime’. Can you imagine 10 years ago someone being hounded out for that?

The comments here are depressing. So many calling for Rosie Duffield to be kicked out of the party for “transphobic” views.

I wish Corbyn and Bromentum would break away and form their own party: that would get rid of a lot of these loonies.

@RealityNotEssentialism

Oh sorry, I think you meant Sophie Wilson didn’t you? She is indeed super-woke. Yeah, wokeness is not a big vote-winner but the people who object to it aren’t listened to in any other areas of life so their voices aren’t heard. Not a problem for the Labour Party, until there’s an election and then they start to wonder why they are losing all these seats.
Sorry yes, my bad, I meant Sophie Wilson! If I recall correctly, she got in a Twitter argument with local CSE survivor Sammy Woodhouse. Out of its big city comfort zone Labour is clueless.
sunshinesupermum · 19/11/2020 11:33

@MoreJammyDodgersPlease

I believe Putney was the only constituency in the last election to switch from Conservative to Labour. (The Conservative candidate was truly woeful, the Lib Dem campaign was bizarre). I voted for Fleur despite many concerns about the Labour party. I think this is the first time I've seen comments from her on this issue, and now there's really no one to vote for.
I'm also in Putney and voted for Fleur as she was the best out of the very poor options on offer.

I'm appalled by her trans stance. As you say there is really no-one in Putney to vote for now.

Thank you for the link SmallPug. I particularly liked this comment:

I don't mind that BoE gets lit up at all and I don't think it was on IWD either.

My issue is that most of the time trans rights and womens rights can happily co-exist but there are obvious instances where they clash (e.g. prisons, rape shelters, female representation, crime statistics, sports...).

I do not understand why the very existence of the conflict is denied, often by intelligent people and those same people also say TWAW but are then unable to define what the meaning of 'trans women' or 'women' is.

I am so fed up with the falsehoods.

Here's the link. It was Monday. The replies etc are good. Funny isn't it that the most oppressed group in the world has the support of every institution and major corporation?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 19/11/2020 10:47

It was just this week. I don’t think they did anything for IWD

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 19/11/2020 10:46

Is that the Bank of England lit up in trans colours on International Women's day?

Have I got that right?

It's just that I can't find any references to that online and I must do that before I have a massive rant about it to my friends and family. Could someone please provide a link?

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 19/11/2020 10:36

@RealityNotEssentialism

Order confirmed!

Hi Fleur

Thank you for your order. We can confirm that your shipment of woke male approval has now been dispatched and should be with you shortly.

😂

RoyalCorgi · 19/11/2020 10:24

@MichelleofzeResistance

To just deny the reality of the issues (which is essentially treating all women and their voices and rights in a way they would not dare to treat a trans activist) is about as stupid as saying Brexit isn't happening, Covid isn't real anyway and Barnard Castle absolutely is the right way to do an eye sight test.
This is what gets me. These people don't argue - they just state obvious falsehoods as facts. "Trans women are women." "There is no conflict between trans women's rights and cis women's rights." Then you ask them in what way are trans women women? Or you point out two dozen examples of where trans women's rights have conflicted with women's rights. And then they block you.

I just cannot understand how it is possible to be that stupid. It's like saying "The earth is flat" without any supporting evidence and expecting people to agree with you. It absolutely depresses the hell out of me to think that these dimwits are our elected representatives.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 19/11/2020 10:19

Let's not be kind. Let's acknowledge that male violence against women and children is a thing and enact policies to protect us.
