Don't know if this was already posted but it's a glimmer of hope that soe judges have their heads screwed on tightly.

I’m very glad that Freddie’s child’s right to an accurate record of the circumstances of their birth was upheld.

It’s the child’s certificate, not Freddie’s, and its purpose is for Freddie’s child to be able to prove where, when and to whom they were born. It’s not a vehicle for Freddie’s validation as a man.

Right decision.

I’m always boggled by the fact that a GRC cannot be rescinded. If it’s that important of a document, then we should be vigilant about attempts to game the system or procure it fraudulently, like we are with driving licences, passports, etc. Question: is it possible to fraudulently obtain one, what would that look like now, and what would that look like under self ID?

If Freddie's GRC is allowed to stand, it makes a mockery of the legal process.

Not a bad point to make on the Women and Equalities inquiry into the GRA that closes in two weeks...

Panicmode1 · 16/11/2020 16:40

I'm glad that the judges recognised that this is about the child and their right to know 'the biological reality of their birth'. And not about the narcissism and identity politics of the parent...

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 16/11/2020 16:40

Can a GRC be revoked or annulled? Surely your declaration that you are going to live the rest of your life as a man is proved false if you then immediately start treatment to get pregnant? If Freddie's GRC is allowed to stand, it makes a mockery of the legal process.

@yourhairiswinterfire

Didn't know that either Angry

Yeah. Not a nice person at all.

I should have added proof with my statement so here's a screenshot. 'Bullies and transphobes' for wanting to be referred to as mothers to their dead babies Angry

No one was asking SANDS not to use trans inclusive language, just to use language that included everyone.

Angry The utter callousness. Beggars belief. Says it all about this person.

They is obviously being "supported" behind the scenes in their strategic litigation.

I too am interested to know who is funding this, perhaps Andrew Spearman at Laytons (who sits in the Ethics Surrogacy Board) has some ulterior motive here and it working properly bono, I can see how the two go together (surrogacy/erasure of motherhood).

The imminent developments I suspect are more to do with the 19 eggs Freddy had collected at the weekend and has announced embryos "doing well" today so more than a small distraction for Freddy.

Reported in The Guardian now...... not sure it's any better than the DM to be honest! Grin

Was Freddie the one who called bereaved mothers 'scum' for 'weaponising their babies' deaths'? Or was that someone else?

Harmarsuperstar · 16/11/2020 16:13

Freddy is suffering from a bad case of internalised misogyny

zanahoria · 16/11/2020 16:12

" The Supreme Court spokeswoman said justices had refused to give permission because the case did not raise an 'arguable point of law' which 'ought to be considered'. "

In other words - laughed out of court.

BlueCatRedCat · 16/11/2020 16:11

@EyesOpening

The GRC should at least state what they consider “living as man/woman” and should have grounds for the GRC to be rescinded. The only problem I have though is how that person can have their own biological children, given that I find Japan’s insistence on the person being sterilised, abhorrent (if I’ve got that right)
Abolish GRCs and the whole notion that a person can change sex. Because they can't.
Antibles · 16/11/2020 16:10

@yourhairiswinterfire

Good decision.

I have no sympathy for Freddy after their tantrum when SANDS apologised for not referring to bereaved mothers as mothers. Those mothers were 'bullies', apparently.

Women were just being silly sausages over a word, yet Freddy keeps going to court over a word 🤷‍♀️

Double standards.

Didn't know that either. Angry
Antibles · 16/11/2020 16:09

Thank goodness. So tired of this.

I also wonder who is paying for all this legal action.

Getting a GRC and promptly signing up at a fertility clinic Hmm

DeaconBoo · 16/11/2020 16:01

Is Freddy saying men can't be mothers? Is he GC?

ferretface · 16/11/2020 15:58

It's an interesting point as to whether it matters to record parental sex at all on a child's birth certificate (e.g. parent 1/parent 2) - presumably some genetic diseases and patterns have links to the matrilineal or patrilineal lines so it could be relevant to know in the interest of research/screening etc. Like it's relevant to know if your mother had BRCA related breast cancer because it means you have a high chance yourself. That sort of stuff requires more than the info on a birth certificate though.

Generally, i can't understand the aversion to calling someone what they are...if you are using your female reproductive organs to birth a child you are that child's mother irrespective of how you present socially. I also don't understand how the dysphoria doesn't extend to birthing a child! Sounds like Freddie is a pretty confused person and glad the court made this decision.

It's such a relief. It shouldn't be, but it is.

EyesOpening · 16/11/2020 15:50

@Datun

'Moreover, we do not have evidence before this court as to how other members of society would feel if they were no longer to be referred to on their child's birth certificate as a mother or a father but simply as 'Parent 1' and 'Parent 2'.'

They could ask them. I'd support that in a heartbeat.

Do you mean you’d support them asking? Rather than support being called Parent 1 or 2?
HDDD · 16/11/2020 15:46

Glad to see someone is thinking of the child here
