If you are on twitter please report this tweet.

Even better please dig for their crowdfunder to challenge Scottish Government redfining women to include men. They are £18000 carrotts down and it would be a great help to them to have tangible help. Three days to go.

Thank you.Smile

Quaagars · 22/11/2020 19:40

No worries Smile

334bu · 22/11/2020 19:19

Quaggars it was me who mistakenly tagged you. At the time I was commenting on a couple of threads, one of which you were on and I mistyped your name on this thread . Please accept my apologies.

Quaagars · 22/11/2020 18:28

I was mentioned. So I commented.
Forgot you weren't allowed to pick up on stuff directed at you though, and are supposed to just let it slide. Hmm Biscuit

SophocIestheFox · 22/11/2020 18:25

Which is an example of you grouping people together, no?

Forget it, I can’t be arsed. It’s a stupid, nit picking debate of exactly the sort that you seem to enjoy so much, and they’re boring, every single time (lol)

Quaagars · 22/11/2020 18:17

you’ve quoted me in this post above, and it wasn’t me who mentioned you

Confused I know. Did I say it was you who quoted me? No, I didn't, but I was just laughing at the irony of your comment when it seemingly goes both ways. That's all.
Quaagars · 22/11/2020 18:14

Apart from the fact that the poster who mixed you up with another poster actually admitted their mistake and apologised

Yeah, I know - that doesn't address my point which was where the heck did my name come into it when I'm not even on the bloomin' thread lol - just pointing out pretty funny people saying "all one big lump of wrongthink" seemingly goes both ways Grin

SophocIestheFox · 22/11/2020 18:04

@Quaagars

I wouldn’t even take it personally, we’re all just one amorphous blob of wrongthink to MBD

Lol, just seen this - looks like that goes both ways on here then (see my previous post)

That was unfortunate, but we reach another dead end as you’ve quoted me in this post above, and it wasn’t me who mentioned you. I am well able to tell you from other posters, you punctuate using “lol”, MBD doesn’t. Easy.

Quaagars · 22/11/2020 17:39

Why would a male person have a legal right to use a female only space Quaggars . They are the wrong sex !

Confused

Where did you even get that it could be me, when I don't think I've even posted anywhere on the thread at all yet?

Escapeplanning · 22/11/2020 17:07

Everyone knows Eresh.

ArcheryAnnie · 22/11/2020 17:07

(The vile twitter post. to be clear, not this thread!)

ArcheryAnnie · 22/11/2020 17:06

Reported.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/11/2020 16:55

Finally, I will never apologise for reacting to being referred to as 'it', whether it was intentional or not.

It wasn't either unintentional or intentional, because I didn't refer to you as "it." You misread my post. Please stop misrepresenting the situation. I have never referred to another human being as "it". I wouldn't even call a dog "it".

NonnyMouse1337 · 22/11/2020 16:23

I was at the Engender AGM too. Totally gobsmacked to hear the words from Emma's mouth.

“I would like to be clear here that Engender is not funded for a huge amount of engagement and are not presenting our work as advocating on behalf of the members or as representative of women."

And yet they happily took £20 off me and others to become members. On whose behalf are they advocating for? I guess their own cosy little group and their mates? Who are they accountable to? They seemed unable or unwilling to even state how many members they had in total.

94% of their funding comes directly from the Scottish Government. It's quite pathetic.

And why have the following on their website?
Engender is Scotland’s feminist membership organisation. We are a membership organisation, and welcome all those who identify as feminist women to join us.

Yet the Scottish Government and Scottish ministers defer to this opaque group as if they are the authoritative voice for women in this country.

You weren’t though. You misread the post, saw your arse over it, and are now still pretending that it happened.

It did not happen.

fatblackcatspaw · 22/11/2020 16:10

it was on zoom so pretty safe! but good point.... but they have possibly 200-250 members I recon. Which is pants. Or possibly I should say Knickers.

nauticant · 22/11/2020 16:05

When they attended did they have to run the gauntlet of a crowd of gender critical women screaming abuse and then have the AGM disrupted by people outside the meeting banging on the windows?

fatblackcatspaw · 22/11/2020 15:57

Engender have raised £2000 in membership fees in the last financial year- FWS has raised over £60000. FWS has managed to raise directly from women over 30 times the paltry amount Engender has. Engender's main income 94 % is from the Scottish Government DIRECT. They are a client org and as such toe the Scotish Government's line. And scragged up a miserable 47 attendees at their recentl AGM.

FWS don't appear to represent many people's views at all

Twitter is the main place for interaction with many women's groups, including FWS.
Woman's Place have 40.5K followers. To be proportional with the populations of the respective countries FWS should have 4.5K followers. Yet they have 13K followers.

Seems to me a lot of people in Scotland are supportive of FWS.

MadBadDaddy · 22/11/2020 13:55

@Winesalot
I posted my thoughts on the original cartoon, but these were deleted. I also said there could be no objective discussion on the matter, and this has been born out. So for this comment to stand a chance of remaining, I can't really offer on opinion here, except to say that, judging by their Youtube stats, FWS don't appear to represent many people's views at all.

IMO, there is nothing 'proportionate' between attacking a group for their chosen political opinions and attacking a group of people for who they are and did not choose to be. "Out of order" just does not cut it.

I haven't gone beyond this point on this thread, have not sought to shame anyone for anything except for their inability to condemn an obviously hateful image of a marginalised minority group who are under frequent, sustained, coordinated attacks, especially during Trans Awareness Week and the Trans Day of Remembrance.

Since I signed up, I have never once expressed an opinion that Mumsnet is beyond the pale as far as trans rights go, nor have I ever reported anything. Trust me when I say I have been to transphobic web spaces, and this ain't it.

Finally, I will never apologise for reacting to being referred to as 'it', whether it was intentional or not.

RedDogsBeg · 22/11/2020 10:56

You'll be waiting until the 12th of Never for that Talking as will Eresh for the apology she is owed.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 22/11/2020 10:04

Great post Winesalot.

I strongly suspect that is exactly how MBD sees us and wishes us to be seen.

Pure demonisation.

But of course I would be delighted if MBD could clarify whether this is the case or not in MBD’s own words.

Winesalot · 22/11/2020 07:54

So to be clear MadBaddaddy. You had nothing to say about the FIRST cartoon that was posted here and now that I have read the thread many posters were talking about. Nothing at all? You could see nothing wrong with it.

However, someone created a rebuttal cartoon to which a link was posted to on here (which many on here don’t use twitter and so some did not click through to see) and that is what you are talking about? Not both of them?

Two wrongs don’t make a right is very true. Both cartoons are out of order. And let’s not get into a debate about proportionality.

If on this thread you responded to the first cartoon and I missed it, then I apologize. I see you have had quite a few deleted posts so maybe you had told us that you thought the first cartoon was outrageous too.

However, if you have not commented on how outrageous the first cartoon was, the depiction of Women for Scotland being the same as the Klan, you have just taken the opportunity to continue to further shame women for fighting to retain women’s rights

To be clear, not to gain further rights, just to retain those we have for the intention they were established.

So, did I misread your existing posts? Do you believe the first cartoon was fine? That For Women Scotland, and any person who believes that the rights for females that they are fighting to keep, is the same as the Klan? A group who killed people who they felt were not human.... that is how you believe women fighting to retain established rights should be considered?
