I saw this opinion piece this morning and once again, surprise surprise, women are to blame. Hmm

According to exit polls 55% of white women voted for Trump. And while I am also aghast that anyone would vote for a misogynistic, racist narcissist, I am a bit pissed off that it’s women that get called out for voting for him and men get a pass.

Also, according to the exit polls, 12% of black people, 32% of Hispanic/Latinx people and 28% of the LGBT community voted for Trump - surely they were also turkeys voting for Christmas?

Nothing is said about the fact that 49% of men voted for Trump versus 48% for Biden, whereas more women voted for Biden than Trump (56% to 43%).

But no, it’s all the females fault....

Unfortunately I have no data to back this up, but is it possible that women in abusive and controlling relationships have ended up so gaslit or too terrified to do much other than follow their abusers will?

I’m sad to say they probably exist in the sorts of numbers to account for swings like this...

Why are you surprised that women voted trump? With Biden's promises to trans activism, and the soon to be erosion of women's and girls rights, it surprises me that more women didn't vote for the orange man. Yes he's a sexist arse, but why jump out of the frying pan into Biden's grease fire? It's a choice between a douchbag and a shit sandwich really isn't it. 🤷‍♀️

I read that none of the exit polls take into account the many mail in or early ballots, which skew heavily to Biden. They are therefore entirely unreliable. It’s incredibly frustrating hearing this ‘white women are the root of all evil’ narrative being peddled all over Twitter. It’s amazing how we are always responsible for the behaviour of men

In 2016 it was accepted wisdom that 52% of white women had voted for Trump. I believed it myself. It took Pew Research until 2018 to properly validate and assess and cross reference the voter data to confirm that, in fact, it was 48%.

Obviously, that it still too damn high! But it dramatically changes the narrative. So I am very suspicious of stories that insist women voted this way, or that Trump has supposedly doubled his vote with black women or gay people. All the votes in NY and CA haven’t even been counted yet!

US exit polls are notoriously unreliable and it will be many many months before we actually know the truth. But everyone will get their digs in at women first!
