If you are going mention the protected characteristics of the UK equality act then at least list them correctly. Gender is not one of the nine.

I would like to think sex is one of the top priorities TBH.

With this diverse pool of candidates in place, they would ensure that the entire selection process focuses on whether a candidate can do a job regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and more.

It says "gender". I read that as using it in the way of "gender" being a polite way of saying "sex" and until recently no-one (or hardly anyone) would have thought twice about it.

I doubt very much the Army Cadets think they can refuse applications from one sex just because they are of that sex.

The definition for diversity is the understanding that everyone is unique and has different identities and qualities - full stop. Sufficient, a partial list undermines that statement.

Pretty major one to miss out though...

fairynick · 04/11/2020 21:37

It literally says “and more” and “to name a few”. There are other things they missed off such as pregnancy, parental status and age. You’re just looking for a problem and it’s obsessive. Who cares.

BowlerHatPowerHat · 04/11/2020 21:32

It wasn't missed out - it will be included in '... and more' and '... to name a few' categories.

Diversity is about empowering others by respecting and appreciating what makes them different.

Except the most basic way humans are divided into two groups.

Yes, they did miss it out. Ugh.
