Mermaid's associate accuses FPFW Nic Williams of "profiting from 'transphobia'". 1) Nic's worked for FREE for 3 years. 2) Mermaids received over £700K last year and the National Lottery gave them £500K. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1322817633784369154.html

Someone dug: "Good Luck, Nic. Thanks to mimmymum for yet further encouragement. She has been immense in this fight in peaking ordinary people".

@Worrysaboutalot

Datun I can't figure out if I miswrote my post in a strange way or if I am misreading your post, lol.

I am saying of course FPFW should pay their staff, as Stonewall and Mermaids do.

I was criticising them attacking FPFW with this idiotic complaint.

I know, I'm agreeing with you! Sorry if I wasn't clear 😀
Campervan69 · 02/11/2020 17:11

And amazingly some of us even earn our own money. Imagine! Back to your pram talk this instant....

Women are fucking amazing. FPFW and the other groups, completely grass roots, completely funded by donations. Hurrah for what has been achieved thus far.

littlbrowndog · 02/11/2020 16:45

Seeeeeeeeething here just seeeeeeeeeeething

Honest to god

Some adults really have lost a grip on reality

My eyes rolling so hard.

Imagine policing what women spend their money on

None of anyone’s business what women spend their money on

She thinks we're 'seething'. I'm not sure how you can read derision and amused mockery that way, but then mimsy thinks all sorts of things are actually other things entirely.

Not too connected to reality is mimsy. Bless.

Campervan69 · 02/11/2020 16:38

Well having seen this, my usual donations to Children in Need and Comic Relief will go instead to FPFW. Grass roots women's groups have been so effective.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 02/11/2020 16:31

Well this 'sad individual' has donated some of my 'dark' money thanks to her. I had been putting off donating, but the Twitter post spurred me on.

Thelnebriati · 02/11/2020 16:24

Isn't ''dark money'' a US political term? What party are we supposed to be funding? None of them support women's rights, not even WEP.

highame · 02/11/2020 16:08

findthetruth thanks for that......heartwarming to see the comparisons

JoodyBlue · 02/11/2020 16:06

Interesting to see the contributions from Comic Relief and Children in Need. I for one when donating via hot line was not aware that funding was going to Mermaids. I am not sure how to feel about it. There is a sense of bad faith however, given the damage I think this ideology does to the young.

DerryWitch · 02/11/2020 15:56

she's STILL going on about it! And not being v complimentary about us lot either. I'm shocked!

@Worrysaboutalot

Why should a pro woman rights group not pay for staff costs?

Mermaid and Stonewall pay staff costs, does that mean they don't really support trans people, as they pay staff?

Stupid lack of logic but what can we expect from an ideology that tells people they can actually change sex!

Of all the stances to take, this one is just plain weird.

What possible justification can you have for saying that Mermaids and Stonewall need to pay staff, but no-one else can.

Maybe they just can't stand seeing all the support that Nic gets. Because whatever it is, saying we can get paid, but you can't, is just odd.

Unbelievable! She's still going on about FPFW on her Twitter page now Angry Oh the irony of exuding so much hate by insisting that all these GC 'cults' are terrible and intolerant.
Thankfully it seems her messages have helped to shed more sunlight. It's interesting to note that many who learn about issues can easily see through the the constant accusations of transphobia and work out for themselves the actual truth. So yes, if you're monitoring as we know you love to do Helen, thanks for your sterling work!

greyinganddecaying · 02/11/2020 12:32

Got to agree with this:
"Agreed. MM in similar position to SG, I believe, hence how much she has invested in this. Having accepted medical advice that your child should be given these drugs, and seeing what they've gone through, of course you don't want to contemplate the possibility that it could all have been a mistake."

However MM is behaving like an arse & I hope Nic can take some kind of legal action against her for this.

As a pp pointed out, the comments on the fundraising page are gold - and it's reminded me to donate!

Coffeeoverload · 02/11/2020 12:30

Wow, thanks for this. Hadn't heard of the Fair Play for Women campaign, but have just donated and will continue to do so!
I actually had nightmares about all this last night.

@DerryWitch

Mermaids got £43k from Children in Need and will be getting £100k a year for the next five years from the National Lottery. Wonder what they will with that money? Promote the idea that children urgently need unregulated hormone-suppressing drugs just because they don't fit sex stereotypes? It's dangerous to children to have that group funded to go round promoting their message. Wish Fair Play For Women had a bit of that. It's shocking that Mermaids and others actively oppose proper research into the effects of different treatment regimes. Which genuine interest group has ever said, no, don't do research! It's so obvious isn't it when you watch the infamous Tedx talk - imagine the horror of having to admit to yourself that the lad would probably have grown out of it?

Of course this isn't the first time Helen Islan has had a go at Nic Williams. She seems really bothered by what Nic says.

Bloody hell. That's a crazy amount.

How are they going to even promote what they have done up until now, without resorting to stereotypes or saying born in the wrong body?

Seriously, what on earth are they going to be teaching in schools now?

Also for the benefit of anyone who was unaware, mimmymum/Helen Islan was responsible for the prosecution of trans sexual Miranda Yardkey for hate crime. The case was slung out of court with a side order of lashings of slurry for mimmymum.

I didn’t know about this and would consider donating
Pot kettle when Mermaids profit off the idea of gender identity being a real thing when of course it’s an ideology with no basis in reality
