jj you were going to tell us the characteristic we women and girls should look for when we see a man in the female loos which means we can tell, on-sight, that this man identifies as not-a-man.

I'm curious how you would know beyond doubt that anyone slightly gender ambiguous in the women's toilets is a woman. How do you tell for sure?

MrsSteveMcDonald · 02/11/2020 20:05

That's very transphobic of you jj, we're repeatedly told that transwomen don't need to make any changes to their appearance to be considered women.

OldCrone · 02/11/2020 20:04

Why would trans people campaign for special toilets when all over the world trans people use toilets inline with their gender

Has jj defined gender yet?

jj1968 · 02/11/2020 20:00

We walk into a public loo, we see a man in front of us, what characteristic do we look for that tells us this man is a transwoman and is therefore totally safe for us to undress in the vicinity of?

Gendered presentation is a thing you know, and one 99.9% of the population pretty much plays along with. So I'd go with that. It seems to have worked for the last 50 years.

Fantastic insights. Strongly recommend.

Just tell us.

Once we know this fail-safe tell, we can then happily open up our spaces. So just tell us.

"As if a women in a men's prison would be less at risk then a women in a women's prison where 0.3% of the women were trans"

Well in Ireland this is only achieved by assigning 2 officers to be with some male prisoners at all times to prevent them harming the female prisoners..

jj1968 · 02/11/2020 19:54

@MrsSteveMcDonald

Women have protection under the EA to have single sex spaces. This also allows transwomen with GRCs to be excluded perfectly legally. Why are you saying that you have the right to enter when the EA clearly states you don't?
That's not what the courts, the EHRC, widespread legal opinion or the Government say unfortunately. There are some limited circumstances where exclusion can be legal. Toilets are not one of them.
Facefullofcake · 02/11/2020 19:53

@334bu

So the answer is no there is no way to distinguish between males, no matter their gender identity, who are a danger to women and those who are not.
Yep. And you shouldn't ask, but you could ask. Prepare to be lied to, thpugh, going by my experience.
PearPickingPorky · 02/11/2020 19:53

@jj1968

You keep banging on about all over the world and especially the USA where TW accessing female toilets happens - how much have you traveled and lived in other countries? I have traveled extensively and lived and worked in several countries and I can categorically tell you that it is NOT accepted practice.

28 states tried to introduce bathroom bills in the USA. All failed. Trans women using women's toilets is accepted practice in the States. As it is in Western Europe. But I agree, and have tried to say comparable countries. There are many countries where trans rights have a long way to go, They are usually countries where the same applies to women's rights.

Finally do please answer this question jj how can someone tell the difference between a man and a TW? You've been asked several times now.

I have answered this. The same way people do now and have done for decades. Or as the law says, if someone is perceived to have undergone, be undergoing or intends to undergo gender reassignment then they meet the threshold for protection under the EA.

That doesn't answer.

Tell us HOW.

HOW. How do we tell them apart?

OldCrone · 02/11/2020 19:52

I do believe trans women would be at risk in male spaces, there is evidence which supports that

Can you post some of this evidence jj?

334bu · 02/11/2020 19:52

And the EA also actively enables single sex services and spaces to refuse to include trans women Smile

jj1968 · 02/11/2020 19:50

I'd hypothesise that women would be safer in with the 50% of males who respect women's boundaries than with the 0.3% of males who do not.

Would you indeed. Well thank goodness you are not in charge of public policy. I'm sorry but what a ridiculous thing to say. As if a women in a men's prison would be less at risk then a women in a women's prison where 0.3% of the women were trans.

Over the sea and faraway,
feminists are all telling jj,
they are small
we are all
Not gonna listen to what they say.

Here on these shores why aye
We put a telescope to our eye
Although we're small
We can hear all
The women at the back saying HI.

PearPickingPorky · 02/11/2020 19:43

Come on jj, tell us all the difference between men and transwomen? Is it hormones? Surgery? Feelings? Something else? What is it?

What differentiates all transwomen from all men? What happens when a man begins to identify as a woman that entirely removes all the risk that existed a few seconds prior to his change in identity?

PearPickingPorky · 02/11/2020 19:40

I asked for evidence that trans inclusive policies pose a risk not mixed sex policies. And they are not the same before you claim otherwise.

How are they different? Please tell us the ways men and transwomen are different. You are sure they are different categories, so tell us how.

Mixed sex environments are likely to be 50% men. Trans inclusive women's spaces are likely to be 0.3% trans women.

I'd hypothesise that women would be safer in with the 50% of males who respect women's boundaries than with the 0.3% of males who do not.

Escapeplanning · 02/11/2020 19:39

pacify a very small movement limited to the UK that is regarded as quite bizarre, regressive and deeply prejudiced by most feminists overseas.

Grin
334bu · 02/11/2020 19:39

Sorry jj most women don't believe males who identify as women are real women. If they are nice people women will be kind to you but that is all. They can wear what they like and as long as they don't want to undermine women's rights, women will accept them as what they are, males who identify as women.

Winesalot · 02/11/2020 19:38

Even the ones without a penis or no sex drive or sexual function due to hormones?

Who are still physically on average 20-30% stronger than women? And of course there is evidence to back this up.

By the way, a male doesn’t have to have sexual function to be a high risk of violence or of sex crimes.

To use your own words, I think you already know that.

Facefullofcake · 02/11/2020 19:37

I'm sorry but I don't think the trans women's
movement represents women, or even most women. It is a small subset of trans people (proportionally, in comparison to the number of females currently transitioning to male) which has become amplified by a much larger group of TWRAs.

testing987654321 · 02/11/2020 19:36

I'm sorry but I don't think the gender critical movement represents women, or even most women.

Well, I am pretty certain that most of the people who argue on here with you are women. So we definitely represent women.

You, however, are a man, who shows no empathy or respect for the women whose spaces you want men to use.

RedDogsBeg · 02/11/2020 19:34

Inclusion of TW in female only only sex segregated spaces makes them mixed sex, TW are of the male sex.

jj It's so nice to hear that you support the inclusion of Karen White in female only locked Psychiatric Wards, Prisons and when they are released in 8 years time you support them to access female sex segregated toilets and changing rooms with their potential adult and juvenile female victims. Super.
