@howard97A

RedDogsBeg: Wouldn't it be lovely if similar action was taken against those who are mercilessly bullying women for non compliance to the TRA agenda and ideology. I somehow doubt that the EHRC would be the slightest bit interested in investigating that.

According to the Report (pp 205-6), Labour Party members said the effect of Ken Livingstone’s comments “was humiliating, denied the victims’ experience, diminished the issue, had the effect of stirring up and fuelling hatred for Jews and contributed to the creation of a hostile and intimidating environment for Jewish Labour Party members.” (pp 105-5 of the Report)
I think that if this subjective perception of Ken Livingston's actions is the basis of the conclusion that his words were "antisemitic" then by the same shaky standard most posters on FWR (including me) are "transphobic". And I wouldn't be surprised if the next people on the EHRC agenda were feminist organizations expressing the “ highly offensive” view that biological males can't be women.

It could equally and I think more honestly and aptly be a description of what is happening to women within the Labour Party and outside of it who believe biological males are just that biological males however they choose to dress or what name they call themselves.

I do, however, agree with you that the EHRC won't ever come to the defence of women.

The Revolution eats its children. It's happening before our eyes.

Virtue signalling by OJ.

Very much doubt he'd do the same for women.

According to the guardian;

A report last year from the Commons women and equalities committee called on the EHRC to “overcome its timidity” and “refocus its work”.

Fucking hell.

FindTheTruth · 29/10/2020 16:52

Statement by Luciana.

I received hand delivered correspondence to my office signed off by supporters of Jeremy Corbyn that said I would have acid thrown on me and I would be stabbed and raped. I had to take extensive personal safety measures, limiting my freedom of movement. It was relentless.

I waiting for the report into misogyny but I won’t hold my breath.

Catmaiden · 29/10/2020 16:17

My immediate thought after hearing this was, what about their attitude to Women in the party? Just for standing up for women's legally entitled sex protected spaces?
Will we see an EHRC ruling on that, I wonder? (I won't hold my breath!)

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/10/2020 16:14

I'd appreciate a break it down for me thread on all this.

Does one exist?

I can see how the intersection with feminism works but I've often found the antisemetism things very confusing.

NRatched · 29/10/2020 16:14

I think it's reasonable to infer that a party capable of "unlawful acts of harassment and discrimination" against one group of people (the Jewish community) might also have vile attitudes towards other groups too.

Ontop of this, many of the people affected will be women.

Glad to see Corbyn being taken to task over the whole thing, long overdue.

RoyalCorgi · 29/10/2020 15:07

Ffs, their war on women who won't comply is never bloody ending.

True. I think that there's a big overlap between those who have been peddling anti-Semitism in the party and those who hate women. It would be good to see them all go.

Like women.*

SNP, take note.

@FindTheTruth

100% agree redDogs. Rosie Duffield is trending as activists say it's unfair JC suspended and not her

MsSafina · 29/10/2020 14:24

Could they please suspend Shami Chakrabarti too who presided over a cover up.

hellotoday27 · 29/10/2020 14:08

Very pleased with this news and shows Starmer has a bit of a backbone. I'm hoping his reasoning is to deal with one major issue at a time and he will move onto the mysogyny issues next (not fighting too many fires at once). Both issues have a lot in common.

Aesopfable · 29/10/2020 14:06

That quote about the complaints inbox - which I took to mean all complaints not just about antisemitism - shows the true extent of the problem though. The Labour Party has been turning a blind eye to bad behaviour for years and has allowed a toxic culture to develop.

Cwenthryth · 29/10/2020 14:02

Yeah, so unfair, he presided over and facilitated an entire system of discrimination against Jewish members and she......has a different opinion from some trans people.....it’s totally the same thing Hmm

Sorry my post was badly worded, I meant wouldn't it be lovely if similar action was taken against those who are mercilessly bullying women for non compliance to the TRA agenda and ideology. I somehow doubt that the EHRC would be the slightest bit interested in investigating that.

Cwenthryth · 29/10/2020 13:51
Shock

Glad this thread is here in FWR even if it isn’t a feminism specific thing; I want to chat with the wise women here about it. Couldn’t believe it when I just saw the newsflash.

Who would take that decision to suspend JC? Starmer? Someone else? More than one person?

RedDogsBeg · 29/10/2020 13:51

Good news that JC has been suspended, it had to be done after KS's unequivocal statement though.

Now wouldn't it be lovely if the Labour Party would do the same for women who are being mercilessly bullied and forced out of the party due to the TRA agenda and ideology - I won't hold my breath.

Aesopfable · 29/10/2020 13:48

”The EHRC said the party's complaints process was inconsistent and lacking in transparency", with the email inbox "largely left unmonitored for a number of years" and "no action taken on the majority of complaints forwarded to it".”
