I mean I'm not surprised but Bitesize is used by schools through the country as a supposed reliable, unbiased source of education material.

You can complain here:

www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints/make-a-complaint

Or email your MP and cc MPs Safe Schools Alliance on info@safeschoolsallianceuk.

In the tweet thread there are some people already complaining. I'm not a defund the BBC kind of person but I can see why license fee layers are questioning what the BBC are doing with their money (there is a website 'BBC complaints' that's all about biased Brexit coverage).

@Blindingly0bvious

jj:The bloke wanting to do detransition research lost. Who won?

Well, a lot of people lost on that one, people who need the research, and people who will need this research in the future. How COULD you count that a win for you? How could you? You are happy that research about detransitioners is disallowed. All I need to know.

You are fine, fuck those other people who are not. Lovely.

I would love to see some quality research on detransition. What he proposed was not that as an independent ethics committee found. And my comment was more about the efficacy of fighting through the courts.
Wizzybus · 23/10/2020 20:30

@Blindingly0bvious

It's more like saying "you must call six 'zip' and sixty 'zooie'. Six is real. Zip and zooie are made up.

Now that's what I call gaslighting.

All words are made up. That's what words are for.
Blindingly0bvious · 23/10/2020 20:30

Breathtaking. So much disregard of other people. I'm out.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/10/2020 20:29

She hasn't changed the Equalities Act and the Women's Minister made it quite clear in the Lords that the government believes in the vast majority of cases trans people have a right to use single sex spaces inline with their aquired gender. She's also made it much cheaper to legally change sex and from the recent comments from the Womens Minister about reducing bureacracy and the paper trail in the system it sounds like it's going to be much easier as well.

Thanks for that JJ Isn't it fascinating how the same events can be interpreted in such varying ways...

jj1968 · 23/10/2020 20:28

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Liz Truss has just completely turned you over.

Could you expand on that?

@persistentwoman

Incredible to see so much vitriol and woman hating being posted on FWR by one poster.
It's been very illuminating, especially the evolution as the thread progresses.

It is, isn't it? But enlightening, I feel.
jj1968 · 23/10/2020 20:24

Also, his case is now going to the ECHR I think? Not entirely convinced that would be seen as a loss?

He's applied to ECHR. That doesn't mean it will be accepted, in fact it very likely won't.

midgebabe · 23/10/2020 20:23

The woman who got punched

Oh and I think self id got kicked into touch

Oh and I think there is a reassessment of puberty blockers for children

And an acceptance that no on can actually be born in the wrong body

And I understand there is to be evidence used to determine transwomen and sports question

Datun · 23/10/2020 20:23

Maya lost. Kate Scottow lost. Harry lost except over the niggle with his ex employers. The bloke wanting to do detransition research lost. Who won?

Ah. That's why Liz truss/DfE have said you cannot secure a gender identity through gender stereotypes. Which leaves every single criteria up the creek without a paddle. What else is there?

That's why they have said you must not no platform people who disagree with transactivism, it's bullying. That's why they have said there is no such thing as being born in the wrong body.

jj1968 · 23/10/2020 20:21

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Who won

All of those people having their stories in the press, bringing sunlight to the issue. (As an aside, Scottow did not sure anyone, they were sued). You don't seem to understand that bringing something to court has far far more value than a simple win or lose Hmm

You don't seem to understand that bringing something to court has far far more value than a simple win or lose

And how much value was won by a court ruling that viewed Maya's views as incompatible with human dignity and fundamental rights of others?

As it happens I think she might win her appeal on that, but probably still lose the case overall.

JJ

Why would I risk my job for the sake of taking on TRAs when I can do so much more whilst having my job?

I quietly get on with my job at work-no 'overt' GCing, just simply changing any mention of 'gender' to 'sex' when that's the word they really meant. Making sure the likes of Mermaids get no where near the building. Ensuring we focus on teaching about sex-based rights along with all the other protected characteristics etc.

My DH is similar. He was introduced to this whole area by myself and Mumsnet. His particular area of legal work doesn't come up against this much but he now has he eyes peeled for any incorrect statements about the Equality Act. He's also happy to jump on here and offer legal tips for anyone who needs them in their GCing.

You see, we're everywhere. We're the teachers at your child's school. We're the government solicitors. We're the doctors, the architects, the journalists, the Girl Guiding volunteers, the care home workers, the nursery staff, the authors, the town councilors. We're your next door neighbours, we're the person you chatted to on the bus.

And because you pushed us all 'underground', you'll never know who we are, where we work, how many of us there are or what we're doing.

There's a religious saying along the lines of 'the greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he didn't exist."

The greatest trick GCs played was convincing TRAs all we do is post on Mumsnet.

What, jj, is "middle class" about a woman prisoner attacked by a male? Do tell.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/10/2020 20:17

Oh sorry, have transactivists won everything? Beats me why you're complaining about your "rights" so very much then!

jj1968 · 23/10/2020 20:15

@yourhairiswinterfire

Oh yes, you're suing a few people, how frightfully middle class.

You sound disappointed that we're not violent thugs.

We didn't need to go and protest on the streets to get Liz Truss to hear us. We wrote personal letters and emails, which was far more effective than waving a banner with a nonsensical slogan on in the street.

Liz Truss has just completely turned you over.
Galvantula · 23/10/2020 20:15

@merrymouse I did that at my work. In a massive place no one had ever asked to express and it caused a bit of confusion and panic about where I could go. Blush
Plus explaining where I was off to a lot to whoever I was working with on my shift. It was important to me though, so I did indeed just have to crack on. It did open up the possiblity of providing facilities so others were able to then use them though. :)

jj1968 · 23/10/2020 20:15

@midgebabe

No I do believe we don't keep losing

You are in a muddle

You may find this thread interesting JJ

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4020907-Roll-call-of-legal-cases-fought-for-women-and-free-speech

Which links to this very useful webpage
womenspeakscotland.com/

Which helpfully lists a lot of the things that all the women who don't care about GC issues aren't doing...
