I don't know off hand, but I think it is just about AWS which are specifically covered as an EA exemption. But yes, males have taken up places meant for women.

Does Jennifer James's challenge also cover the Jo Cox Leadership Programme, or would that need a separate case? I can't remember the details without looking them up but I think that was supposed to be used to help women get the skills and confidence to take on committee posts and leadership roles in the Labour Party, as well as increasing the number of women MPs and councillors. Competition to get onto it is presumably quite intense.

One of the first hurdles to be got over is that growing up with female socialisation can make women reluctant to sing their own praises and to put themselves forward. It can make them more self-critical than men, more likely to think 'I can do 95% of that but they won't want someone who can't do 100%, and they'll be angry if I waste their time by even enquiring'. Men, of course, are far more likely to glance at a job spec and think 'I can do some of it, I can wing the rest, let's give it a punt - after all, they'd be lucky to get me!'.

Some of the places on the Jo Cox programme have gone to candidates who didn't have the female socialisation handicap.

This is exactly the same issue that Jennifer James has been challenging with Labour since early 2018 (I believe the court case is awaiting a hearing date still). Heather Peto was also on an AWS.

It's actually really disturbing and I'm increasingly horrified that rape crisis, Engender, the SNP etc can't see the level of narcissism and quite frightening disregard for the welfare of women. It reads like it was a game.

I don't know the timeline on the appointment, but I believe MW claimed in the film with Fox Fisher that they knew they wouldn't have been hired if people knew.

I can't remember where it was, but there was a Scottish woman who said her daughter hadn't been able to access rape counselling this year, because the requested female counsellor turned out to be a transwoman. I'm sure she said that this was in the Forth Valley. Maybe I'm putting 2+2 together and making 5, but that fits with the CV of the person in the OP.

In other news, the SNP needs to sort itself out. Yesterday, this happened.

As anyone who isn't performatively woke can tell at a glance, the questioner had read "trans man" and thought MtF, and so was confused how a MtF could have endometriosis.

As the conversation developed, it turned out the questioner was a 71 year old man, and here he was, being lambasted for not understanding the new vocabulary already.

As far as I can make out, Alice, Rhiannon Spear tweeted something like anyone that doesn't agree with her is far-right. Which'll obviously go down well.

Thanks, Igneo & Pear. 'Entryist' seems about right. I don't pretend to know what's going on with the internal warring of the SNP, but it's really souring my opinion of the party. I know some good people in the SNP, not sure they know what's going on, either. Power struggles, I suppose.
