Joe Biden issues new statement on the transgender debate

ripx4nutmeg · 16/10/2020 07:36

In a Q&A he said he'll reverse all 'anti trans' executive orders if he becomes president. He revealed again that he doesn't really know anything about the trans debate but implied he will still give campaigners everything they want twitter.com/DailyCaller/status/1316913590620852224?s=20

@nauticant

And it’s overlooked that Biden was voted in fairly by the Democratic base. That’s who many wanted.

There are many people who would vote for Trump. On the other side there are many people who would vote for someone who isn't Trump. I suspect that the number of people who would vote for Biden as Biden is rather low.

I don't think this is true. Even Clinton who was a very unpopular candidate convincingly won the popular vote but lost in the Electoral College - as a result of Trump taking the likes of Florida Michigan Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by very narrow margins.

The sitting candidate has a huge advantage in US Presidential elections and tend to win a second term as a result - certainly over the last 50 years but nonetheless the Dems actually have to win over a rather small number of moderate Republicans. Its precisely because Biden is the candidate - rather than say Sanders - that the likes of The Lincoln Project who are themselves run by Republicans - are campaigning in favour of Biden and calling on other GOP supporters to do the same.

If the Dems win it will be precisely because Biden is the candidate

Interesting link Bovary put up above.

Essentially Joe Biden 's sons laptop fell into the hands of the New York Post.
There were photos of him taking drugs, and another potential " Buttery Male " scare about emails regarding dodgy deals with China and Ukraine.
Twitter and Facebook slammed all links from the NY Post immediately.

Whatever you think about Trump, that would NOT have happened to a mainstream news source with dirt on the Trump side.

It is worrying, given the reach those tech giants have.

Floisme · 16/10/2020 10:35

Ah the If-you-criticise-Biden-you-must-be-a-Trump-troll argument, and we're only on page 3.

I can confirm that the first time it's levelled against you, it stings. And then you stop caring.

pequini · 16/10/2020 10:30

On no fucking planet is Trump more pro women's rights than Biden. Grab them by the pussy. Do what you want to them? Come on!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 16/10/2020 10:28

gurufloof thanks for telling us about Dawn Wilcox who's counting dead women in the US.

@womencountusa has been deactivated on twitter - don't suppose we know why?

HelloToMyKitty · 16/10/2020 10:25

I forgot that single issue voters do not care about Climate Change

Yeah, you did. It’s not very relevant to either voting base at the moment.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 16/10/2020 10:18

This thread was so clearly started by the Trump trolls hoping to split the left

Not sure about that one. OP - if same on twitter - is vocal on women’s rights.

There is a difference between the US and UK in the legal rights of women and transpeople.

The TWAW mantra is the destruction of women’s rights - Particularly ones enshrined in the UK. It heralds the inability to define or discuss sex-based oppression and develop solutions. It prevents women and girls from organising as sex-based political entities to campaign for the economic, political and social parity for women and girls. It removes the right to dignity, privacy, safety and equity of access afforded by single sex provision.

Trump and the Republicans openly want to remove women’s rights. The Democrats - in their different way - are also openly campaigning for this. They are either covering it up or are just too thick to notice obvious consequences the latter wouldn’t surprise me based on many GB politicians from the left.

I am not sure if the Democrats count as the left as per the UK definition. But sure as hell -the left - who are swinging right behind TWAW - ain’t no friend to women.

Douche or shit sandwich has it.

Annasgirl · 16/10/2020 10:18

@ListeningQuietly, I would urge you to brush up on your reading of "How to Win Friends and Influence People", particularly if your job over the next few weeks is to tackle "internet trolling for Trump".

Annasgirl · 16/10/2020 10:16

And as per the Hillary fiasco, the Dems come on here and shout down any debate as "oh no, you are not allowed to consider your personal priorities, you must just vote for us and we will do what is best" - way to talk down to the people. And calling us Trump trolls? Every time I come on MN to debate this issue, I am called a Trump troll. If you honestly knew my personal politics and my history of living in the US (many, many years ago) you would put me to the far left of the woo woo dems (except on issues of Trans) and International Trade.

ListeningQuietly · 16/10/2020 10:13

Ah, silly me
I forgot that single issue voters do not care about Climate Change.

Toodle pip.

FairFriday · 16/10/2020 10:11

Either way - whoever wins there’s going to be riots.

ripx4nutmeg · 16/10/2020 10:08

I think they're the two worst candidates I've seen out of every US election I've either followed or read about.

But to quote Gad Saad: 'You have one candidate who lies about the size of his penis because he's a narcissist, while the other lies that a man with a penis can be a woman because that's what his party supports'.

One is more of a threat to women, children, free speech, humour and science than the other, even if he doesn't realise that he is

@ListeningQuietly

Biden knows that TRA is SO FAR DOWN THE LIST OF PRIORITIES that only PRO TRUMP people raise it as a way to split the women's vote

If Biden wins he will work on
COVID
Trade
China
Climate Change
Employment
COVID
Trade
Climate change
and only in the 47th month give a stuff about TRAs

DO NOT fall for the QAnon conspiracies

Omg but I have to respond on this one though.

COVID: this a state matter, so Biden will not have much of an impact.

Trade/China: this is something Trump is much stronger on and you wouldn’t be voting Biden if this is your top issue.

Climate change: If you are green, Biden’s your man. But get real, CC is never a top priority

Annasgirl · 16/10/2020 10:06

@Aesopfable

You look at Trump and you would think anyone who stood against him should win.... and then you look at Biden.
And this is the tragedy for all of us who hoped for a better America - and I say this as a parent of a DD who wants to study there and now knows there is no way in hell that she can (irrespective of which of these men win, the rights of women and the tinderbox of race relations, means that it will not be a safe place for at least a decade. And at the end of the decade, at least we will have some idea of which side won).
ArabellaScott · 16/10/2020 10:05

It's amazing to me that in a country the size of America, the two 'best' candidates they could rustle up are Trump and Biden!

This.

I think within the US, Trump is not good news, but at least he doesn't seem inclined to start wars overseas.

Obama presided over a huge increase in drone killings, and sanctioned the extrajudicial killing of Osama Bin Laden. I can't think of a US president that hasn't been problematic or at least moderately deranged - I think it's just baked into the system As far as I can tell, this is all symptomatic of a falling, failing empire. Unfortunate that it has implications for the rest of the world.

ListeningQuietly · 16/10/2020 10:04

Please take the tinfoil off. This is Mumsnet not that many US voters on here even

  • Mumsnet is searchable on google.
  • There are lots of US voters on Mumsnet
  • the Heil picks up MN stories and its MASSIVE in the US

Disinformation on here leaks out

nauticant · 16/10/2020 10:02

What is you basis for this presumption?

I'd imagine some of their clients have very conflicted motivations for using transwomen prostitutes, along with a number of clients being surprised and angry when they find out they're with a transwoman prostitute (even though at some level they already knew). Obviously I could be wrong.

Aesopfable · 16/10/2020 10:01

@pequini

Please no. He's running against the devil incarnate here. Can we not encourage people to not vote for the man. He's the only hope we have. I normally care a lot about women's rights and the aggressive trans lobby. But now is NOT moment. The left need to mobilise behind him not pick him apart.
When are we allowed to consider the rights of half the population as something worth voting for?

This is one of the reasons trump will win. This and all the ‘defund the police’ and riots. Even my ‘normal’ family in the US are resigning themselves to this (and they live in the woo woo states).

Vermeil · 16/10/2020 09:55

South Park got it right years ago, your choice is between the giant douche and the shit sandwich.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/10/2020 09:55

Biden's shown his colours then - and they ain't women's colours.

pequini · 16/10/2020 09:53

Biden does not have dementia! He has a stutter! This thread was so clearly started by the Trump trolls hoping to split the left. Hold your nerve people! Now is not the time to disintegrate into little righteous factions. The alt right are counting on us to do so!

fatblackcatspaw · 16/10/2020 09:49

@WaxOnFeckOff

Trump is bad but Biden is no better. He's also a proven liar, has dodgy sexual history and has dementia.
dementia!!!
