More Than a Game

^Lydia Furse looks at the personal and political benefits of playing women's rugby.

Lydia has long played rugby, and in this passionate talk discusses the harmony of bodies working together, a well-executed try, and how being in a scrum has made her feel differently about her physical image. She argues that women's rugby - much more than a game - is empowerment, it is boundary breaking, and it needs to be feminist.^

Intriguing comment about needing to be feminist. Might tie in with discussions about women's rugby going on in a couple of threads I've noticed on here today?

Hope that's the 'take' OP. It really needs to be said.

Sport for women and girls is every bit as important and potentially life-changing as it is for males. There seems to be a notion that women are just faffing around at it and really won't mind if they win or not, or if a TW is chosen instead of them, or if they have to give up because they are scared of being injured by someone with male strength and size.

Sport as 'empowerment, boundary-breaking and feminist' is exactly what we need. Hoping against hope that Wales RU understand that.

She was great. It makes me want to weep that RFU has so little respect for Lydiaand all the other women who love playing rugby.

Me and you both Clymene. It's desperate.

Surely there's a case for legal action here? World Rugby has made it's decision, based on research, and RFU have gone against the findings.
