Oops doesn't show the date 🙄

I read the article earlier through the link in the first post, but I do like to go back and read the comments, they are so good. Next time I'll wait to read the article until there are more comments. Thanks for share token.

Am deeply disappointed in Keir Starmer’s ostrich impersonation on this. It’s doing him no favours from anyone’s point of view.

Cwenthryth · 12/10/2020 13:00

That’s weird, it’s definitely today! I can still see it but think am logged in. Try clearing cookies etc?

MaudTheInvincible · 12/10/2020 12:59

The comments are heartening. Thank you, Rosie Duffield, for standing up for women and girls in public. It's plain that Kier Starmer is out of his depth here, and too frightened to step up.

InflamatoryWrit · 12/10/2020 12:59

The article is dated Oct. 12 2020 12:01 a.m.

This is the intro:

Rosie Duffield got a standing ovation in the House of Commons last year when she revealed her experiences of domestic abuse in a speech that left many of her colleagues in tears. The Labour MP for Canterbury has been attacked by left-wingers for speaking out against antisemitism and vilified by right-wingers for campaigning against Brexit.

Now she is on the front line in the culture war accused of being “transphobic” after she liked a tweet suggesting that “individuals with a cervix” should be described as “women”.

The vitriol poured on her has left her “completely terrified”, she says. She has in the past suffered intimidation at home and threats from Twitter trolls, but, she tells us, “This feels worse — maybe because it strikes at the heart of who you are as a woman, and because it’s base, pure misogyny.”

There is, she claims, a witch hunt underway. “It very much feels as though the stake is built as soon as there is even the mere hint of any charges. A word like ‘transphobe’ gets spread around without any actual evidence and the fire is lit.’’

She knows she will be attacked for speaking out, but she has decided to do so because she fears that protections and rights won by previous generations of feminists are in danger of being undermined.

@Ereshkigalangcleg

There is supposed to be 8 women on the committee and 8 men. But 4 of the "women" are biologically male. The person who is hounding Rosie Duffield is leader of this group and is a male who identifies as a woman.

But this would never happen! Obviously we know who the leader is, anyone know who the others are?

So the Labour LGBT group who bully and harass anyone who doesn't agree non-subservient women are hateful bigots, also thinks gender balance is achieved by appointing 12 men and 4 women?

Well, that figures. Welcome to their brave new feminism, which is exactly like their bad old misogyny, but this time they hope we won't notice.

wellbehavedwomen · 12/10/2020 12:55

She's incredibly brave. She's putting her head over the parapet for women, and I love her for it. Here's hoping others who are too scared to do what they know is right stand with her.

Women are human. Women exist. And women matter.

PopperUppleton · 12/10/2020 12:47

Thanks for new share token but I also get that it was only free for a limited time. And also it's an article from March 2017?

Mollyollydolly · 12/10/2020 12:45

I've emailed my thanks to her, cc'd in Keir Starmer and my local MP. The more of us do this the more we might get them to realise how many of us there are bloody furious about this.

GCYY · 12/10/2020 12:42

I can't see the article. When I follow the link I get "Sorry... The article you were trying to read was free only for a limited time" ... even though it's less than a day old.

Does anybody have a link that works or text of the article?

There's no way I can afford the £26/month access fee (and in not very comfortable with the idea of feeding money to Murdoch anyway).

ChattyLion · 12/10/2020 12:12

Have sent Rosie Duffield a card. Also sent a belated thank you card to Liz Truss and Jackie Doyle-Price.
I am next going to email my (Labour) MP asking them to ask Kier and Angela to stand up for women, biological truth, and against misogyny and homophobia. I am absolutely ashamed for them of how they are behaving over this.

zanahoria · 12/10/2020 12:10

It'll be catnip for the Tories at the next election

Self id was their policy but as Brexit has shown, Tories are adept at switching ideologies. Labour far less so.

Cwenthryth · 12/10/2020 11:54

I’ve sent her an email thanking her this morning. She’s going to get so much hate from the TRAs, hopefully it will be water off a ducks back but I wanted her to know that I for one was truly grateful for her being a visible woman saying biological sex is real.

MissLawls · 12/10/2020 11:15

Brilliant from Rosie and the comments beneath it are wonderful.

Starmer is a coward. I hope it's okay to post this here. I wrote about how Labour cannot continue to ignore this issue. It'll be catnip for the Tories at the next election.

teawamutu · 12/10/2020 10:59

@zanahoria

Angela Rayner asked Rosie to reflect on her views, seems that she has and decided she was right all along.
Like JKR, and Martina... Careful what you wish for, TRAs.
Manderleyagain · 12/10/2020 10:55

From post above "You know, maybe she does believe tw aw sometimes and that females still need their protections. Or Maybe she feels scared to say transwomen are trans women" . I think it could be either of these. I think much of the population are probably with the first option - tw are a type of woman who should be treated as women in the majority of circumstances - its only when you find out what the political statement 'twaw' means in practice (for women's sport eg) that you realise 'are' actually really does mean 'are'.

The religious framing of that question as belief was interesting. One of the gc philosophers said on twitter that she was no longer answering that question because people have no right to know the content of her heart. Other people only have a right to know how you will treat people.

The comment about the 'gender balance' of labour lgbt Committee or whatever it is was eye-opening but not that surprising. I wonder if any of the men are female born? It sounded like not.

Thank you for the share token OP. The share tokens really make this board a great resource.

Thank you Rosie. I think this is really significant. I hope it makes Starmer think.

Wonder who chose the photos? 👀

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/10/2020 10:46

I’m not sure they are bothered what I think. It’s just a vehicle to attack women in public.
Star

Thank you Rosie Flowers

Lottapianos · 12/10/2020 10:32

Brave woman. This is what real courage, leadership and backbone look like. Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner, you should be ashamed of yourselves. What a disgrace you both are

DeaconBoo · 12/10/2020 10:31

Another thank you from me

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 10:26

Thank you Kit19!

Needmoresleep · 12/10/2020 10:25

Looking at the photos of the Committee, my guess is that some of the men might be biologically female.

Perhaps even after all?
