Scumsnet web crawler trawling mumsnet FWR

With 'tinsel' 'angel' and 'Jesus' on the list he's going to have a very busy December.

I note my ex's preferred word for describing himself is listed as evidence that we are all totes mean and phobic. Unfortunately I can't say the word itself - it's on the banned list!

And they are going to have soooooo much irrelevant shite to wade through in December, if they're searching for all reference to tinsel.

So... someone does this crawl and ends up with a load of R0's catalogues and Datun and Tinsels's posts?
Jolly good. Try reading them, Dr G.

I do love the Hall of Fame, and feel slightly miffed that some of us are not on it! Some great women there!

Does this mean that if I repeatedly use the words trans, transvestite, transsexual, identifying man, identifying woman, dresses, frocks, agp, etc, I get a Blue Peter badge? 1😁

I remember the days of cod, just caught the end of them when I joined, or at least the talk of them being fairly recent.

Swapped to new phone and cackling at what passed for typing this morning. Not going to be passing any typing tests.

On the computer my fingers regularly type t e h for the. I catch most of them.

They are taking the wrong tactics. Pissing people off tends to make them take more action.

Maybe that’s the solution Errol, to misspell the terms they search for? We’d all still recognise APG or trnasgenedr, or misgoynist wnaker.

@CaraDuneRedux
But don't these guys ever stop for a moment and have a "Hans, are we the bad guys?" moment?

Bang on! No doubt he thinks he's doing something terribly worthy for the public good, but why on earth give it the name "Scumsnet"?

Tragic, with a side order of creepy.

Wonder if HQ will address this, or just tell us - yet again - that we're imagining it.

I can see why he has a lot of time on his hands

Seeing as Giles is so interested in us and what we have to say, I think its only polite to return the interest. So heres a photo of the lovely Giles

Don't worry, Susan - when some of us started on MN, one of the most prolific posters had a trademark mangled style, which people still managed to read. It was from the Eric Morecambe school of typing - all the right letters but not necessarily in the right order. I used to be able to emulate it but it's quite hard now with autocorrect. Yours isn't at Cod level yet.

You think by now they would have realised that, if they'd only left those original posters to talk among themselves, most people would never have heard about it - because who listens to mums? They'd have got their legislation through without the rest of even noticing. But they just couldn't help themselves - and they still can't.

Sorry bout the typing. On old pp gone. Need new glasses. Waiting for the end of pandemic to get eyesvtested. Mynarmsbhabebgot too short again and I can't see what I am typing.

Yeah, som cof us don't evn make the akso rann list. Never mind, the leaders will be passing the baton on to others. They have taught us well. And let's face it they can't be in every school playground monitoring every conversation and it never does any good to piss off a load ofbmums.

I doubt they have enough people to pass every group of parents chatting. On every street corner near a schol.
.

I thikn inmay have to go back to typing on the computer without my glasses. That'll sortit. Mibd you, I am not sure anyone else willl be able to reaad itbeither.

It really is creepy. On a larger scale, I think this is what TRA's are doing to highlight hate speech to the police, so he might be a Mr Not Very Important (those could be his pronouns) but this is just one of the tools that is used to burrow into institutions and undermine the rights of women.

I am impressed with the score cards of some of our illustrious posters. Salute

As a TRA hit list, if HQ ever try to cancel RTB they’ll have a mob of furious Westminstender regulars to contend with.

Agree, floral

The name of it intrigues me. “Scumsnet” - a site populated mostly by women, and mostly focused to supporting other women, in the challenges and demands of womens’ lives, is described as “scum”.

There always has been a certain section of the male population who gets so deeply anxious about what women might say to each other if not closely supervised. One the one hand, we’re silly, ignorant little fillies, chattering to each other irrelevantly about laundry and weaning, best ignored and/or mocked. And on the other, we’re deeply dangerous potential criminals who need to be called to account and made to answer for our hate speech, lest we spread it to vulnerable populations.

Powerful stuff.

This is one tool being used. There will be others.

The point is not that we are being watched; it's a public forum, we knew that. The point is that is a list of targeted posters, some of whom have already been reported and banned, and it's a little internet gidget to facilitate knowing exactly which posters to focus on.

MNHQ knows that Tinsel, for example, has some long running support threads here, and is obviously a person of interest for these people, and it's not going to be because they like her dry wit, it's because she is rather significant at pointing out that transitioning doesn't happen in a vacuum - it directly affects women. I think they should be proactive in minding that she is not maliciously targetted, myself.

It’s also picked up RatRolyPoly who I think has the opposite view to most on this board.

Bless them, imagine having a life so tragic and empty that monitoring women for wrong think feels heroic.
