according to nick cohen on twitter, amanda craig novellist has been dropped as a judge from mslexia because she signed the jkr letter - a womens writing magazine! - absolutely shocking. and frightening.

@Helmetbymidnight

some self-righteous child. but the responsibility lies with mslexia- they should have laughed and told her to fuck off. why they didn't is bewildering.
Indeed. There's an enormous amount of fear, it seems, about not appearing virtuous enough, though misogyny doesn't appear to matter in how virtue is judged.

As an aside, I so want to understand where and how the gender identity concept so rapidly took over most of woke young feminism.

Was it in universities? And all those health care related sites which erase the word 'woman' and replace it with either 'people' (thus giving the impression that some health issue affects all people) or with some horrible synechdoche (vulva-owners or uterus-havers), do they do this because the trans activists keep complaining nonstop or do they do it because they want to do it for other reasons? And if it is the former, is it mainly, say, the nonbinary female-bodied people who complain or trans men or trans women or all?

Going to buy an Amanda Craig book, and send her a supportive card.

Kit19 · 29/09/2020 18:58

What writer kicked up a fuss?

PigeonToe · 29/09/2020 18:57

What kind of writer can't bear to be on a panel with another writer who disagrees with them? What kind of author dooms themselves to an intellectual cul-de-sac like that? Mindblowing.

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/09/2020 18:56

Wow, what a great look, punishing a woman for signing a letter expressing disgust at another woman being the victim of rape, death and violent threats.

What on Earth could be Mslexia's problem with that, exactly?

Helmetbymidnight · 29/09/2020 18:56

utterly ridiculous. these people frighten me with their fucking fascism:

"i didnt complain i just said that i wasnt comfortable to judge a panel alongside amanda because of the letter"

this is another woman writer. unbelievable.

"i offered to step down in order to let her remain on the panel"

Another author who was on the panel with her said if they didn’t drop Amanda she would resign. They dropped Amanda. Ironically the bully complained about being the victim of a pile on when she was receiving very mild and entirely justified criticism. If she objects to women being criticised online she had a wonderful opportunity to make a stand against it but clearly she thinks that defending (the wrong) women from abuse is something so awful you need to be cancelled for it.

RoyalCorgi · 29/09/2020 18:50

That's awful. I have subscribed for years. Will definitely cancel if they don't reinstate her.

stella47 · 29/09/2020 18:42

For fucks sake, I thought Myslexia was for women.
And Amanda Craig is a brilliant author, not that that's got anything to do with it.

If that's true, I am cancelling my Mslexia subscription which I have had for about 15 years.
