Prisoners to choose based on gender not sex, it never happens and trans women are the most vulnerable ever etc etc etc

I'd like a link to that so I can shut up wokesters. Please.

I have no problem with this legislation if it applies to actual trans women who have lived all their adult lives as women and have medically transitioned

I just wanted to say that sadly that Canadian ex-prisoner who suffered these policies in prison found that one of the most dangerous was a fully transitioned transwoman.

SerenityNowwwww · 28/09/2020 11:21

My family in the states are just bewildered - I asked them ‘in a population of 300 odd million and that the 2 best people you could find???’. They hate them both.

ButcherManWasSomeLady · 28/09/2020 10:48

How should Americans vote in the upcoming election if they want fewer attacks on women and children's rights and not more?

SerenityNowwwww · 28/09/2020 10:44

I don’t think central gvt can intervene on state laws can they?

ButcherManWasSomeLady · 28/09/2020 10:25

Perhaps the orange dotard hasn't had it brought to his attention. Yet.

Would you at least agree that with the other party (democrats) there is a big chance of there being more of this and no cutting back.

(I can't get that photo out of my mind - you must know the one.)

Nomnomarrgh · 28/09/2020 10:14

As to “only Trump could stop this”. Well, he’s the president now, isn’t he? Has he stopped it? No. There’s your answer.

SerenityNowwwww · 28/09/2020 09:36

Their hearts (funny my autocorrect changed that to beards!) are pretty hard towards women - especially women prisoners. Do women’s prisons have ‘special’ wings for particularly violent cases or women who have committed sexual crimes or crimes against children?

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 28/09/2020 09:29

Pale - agree.

And no mention of privacy or dignity of women.

Sadly I can only hope that the litigious nature of US society means that this will be reversed before too many women are harmed.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 28/09/2020 09:07

@ThinEndOfTheWedge

Why am I shocked reading that? But I am.

Are you shocked because it’s so insanely bloody awful, but you are not surprised?

No one gives a shit about those women.

I think it is seeing the person who authored the law saying this "It’s just a false narrative about transgender people and about transgender women in particular that they’re somehow not really women and are just trying to scam their way into women’s bathrooms or facilities in order to do bad things,” Wiener said. “Overwhelmingly the people who are being victimized are trans people.” It is the fact that a law maker could say that. They have entirely missed the point or have deliberately ignored the arguments or actively do not give a shit about women.

But no, not surprised.

Do we know what the "management of security concerns" would encompass?

Gaslighting piece of s*.

Women are adult human females. No TW are not women.

Overwhelming the people being victimised are women.

nauticant · 28/09/2020 08:51

Is anyone expecting a lot of FtM criminals requesting to be placed in with the men?

I'm expecting a few, for the results to be personally catastrophic, and it being kept quiet until eventually it emerges.

SerenityNowwwww · 28/09/2020 08:48

None I’d guess.

ButcherManWasSomeLady · 28/09/2020 08:46

ButcherManWasSomeLady · 28/09/2020 08:44

If trump gets re-elected will he stop this nonsense.

As daft as it sounds is he our only hope?

As was pointed out in twitter- under the Geneva convention male PoWs cannot be housed with female PoWs. To PoWs have more rights than women in California.

California is very very odd when it comes to such things. They throw money at social problems too and that causes a lot of worse problems. I wonder why there in particular?

“Overwhelmingly the people who are being victimized are trans people.”

So let's make sure we victimise a hell of a lot more women just to restore the natural order of things?

nepeta · 28/09/2020 06:45

It tells us which groups are deemed more worthy of intervention. It is also a giant natural experiment where natal women are utterly unimportant and their safety irrelevant. Finally, it is truly stupid to assume that many male prisoners who are not trans wouldn't exploit a rule which allows them a cushier time in prison, access to female bodies and some distance from other violent male prisoners. This is likely to be particularly true for those who are in prison for sexual violence and for those who have a long sentence.

HeirloomTomato · 28/09/2020 06:27

The old 'it never happens' saga again.

I have no problem with this legislation if it applies to actual trans women who have lived all their adult lives as women and have medically transitioned. I can see how it would be dangerous for a trans woman like that to be housed in the male estate. With self-ID laws, however, it's a disaster.

Why can't they just put a limit on it to say that prisoners who have committed crimes against women like domestic violence, rape or murder of women are exempt, regardless of how they identify?

HPFA · 28/09/2020 06:07

I guess it's easy to knit a hat and march against Trump when everyone you know agrees with you anyway.

I've recently started suggesting to people on Twitter when they say "how do I talk to my friend/daughter etc" that they read some dubious stuff from trans activists and say "how would you feel if that was said by someone with MAGA or "All Lives Matter" in their profile.

I detect on social media more willingness to speak up and less fear - and that's because people are discovering that "people like us" don't necessarily accept the agenda.

EdgeOfACoin · 28/09/2020 05:23

Where are the pussy-hat wearers of California now?

Do they not care that women are being put at risk in this way? Do they really believe that being a woman can be reduced to being a thought in a man's head? And even if they do think that, why can't they see that anyone can abuse this system of self-id, even men with a history of sexual violence?

Where are the pussy-hats and the marches now? I guess it's easy to knit a hat and march against Trump when everyone you know agrees with you anyway.

It's not brave, though.
