This is a harrowing read.
I feel immensely sorry for the child that was. However I feel more frightened for the women and children G might be incarcerated with.

Yeah Runners. All she had to reply to you was whether she would be doing anything about your issue as a TD, or not.

Anyway, here's a comment from Limerick Feminist Network Hmm

Joan Collins TD retweeted this ⬆️. Women should have toilets and safe working conditions but not safe prisons?

Thanks Second Row. I presume as TWAW she doesn't see a problem. When you resort to name calling you have already lost the argument.
NiceGerbil · 01/10/2020 13:26

I'm sure the thing I read said this person was being prosecuted for sexual assaults against more than one woman, and had made two threats to kill against one of them as well.

NiceGerbil, my understanding was he had already served time in the young offenders institute for previous assaults. There were then proceedings about keeping him in a form of special care. Then he turned 18 last year. I think he is now being prosecuted for offences committed as an adult, namely the threats to kill.
@Runneros - if you want to publicise it you could pass it on to the Radcailin team or to the Countess Team. Or if you want one of us could email her (I didn't include her on my list as it would be akin to wasting energy and bandwidth) and publicise the response. I really think people like that who are TD should be called out on using that kind of language in a response to a genuine query (or any query really, but I realise I am old fashioned in my manners expectations).
Thanks. I might do that. I genuinely have no problem with anyone having a different opinion, but all that it required was an explanation of her opinion.
I cannot understand why so many people that support this ideology are so aggressive.

NiceGerbil · 01/10/2020 12:22

That Limerick leader article gives zero indication of what this person has already done.

Also they say they are awaiting trial for threats to kill but I thought it was sexual assault as well, against more than one woman.

I wonder why they didn't mention that

OMG Runners! That is shocking! You must be incandescent.
More shocked at the language used than anything else. I fully expect there will be people that disagree, but the whole tone of her email was extremely aggressive, and highly unprofessional.
frogswimming · 01/10/2020 12:05

Thanks, I looked up those templates and then wrote my own email. I would worry templates just get lumped into one by the researchers who probably answer TDs mails. Also likely to be younger woke types who just cut and paste replies. I doubt the TDs even read these emails. Still it's worth a try.

I've emailed my fg, ff, and sd TD. Didn't even bother with the sf one and not sure whether I'll email the labour one.

I also mentioned about the removal of 'women' from HSE cervical screening info.

Runnersos · 01/10/2020 11:38

@frogswimming

Could someone send me a copy of the email they sent their TD?
There are examples upthread. I just checked Joan Collins profile online, as she has been reprimanded for using the f word during parliamentary debate, I am not overly surprised at her response. She clearly didn't even read my email properly as she completely missed the points I was making.

Well I received areply from Joan Collins TD, which was so appalling that I am completely shocked that any public representative would send out to a member of the public.
Basically she called me mean spirited, base, an oppressor,, and that I was using slurs and insinuations. She also said I used many characterisations of trans people as sex offenders, which I didn't. Finally she accused me of being homophobic.
Truly, truly appalling.
I get the feeling she thinks I am a TERFBiscuit

This is absolutely ridiculous, Barbie is being held in Limerick women's prison. What can go wrongConfused. Barbie has form for attacking a Social Worker. I hope the Prison officers have good support.

www.womenarehuman.com/transgender-teen-charged-with-making-death-threats-against-two-individuals/

Horrendous report.

In a car, being driven by a female care worker. without provocation he lunged forward , pulled clumps of hair from the woman's scalp, bit her and dug his nails into her eyes.. The care worker was hospitalised with injuries that included torn eyelids.

Now in a prison with vunerable women. 18 years old, a man not a child, with a man's strength.

Zappone isn't a TD anymore, she lost her seat and has moved back to the US

Katherine Zappone. who was involved in the 2017 review, is unlikely to vote against it.

No I think the TDs still owe you a response there Runners. The pertinent info that it is a male person now being accommodated in a women's prison is available from the "mainstream" reporting.

Obviously the extra background info makes it worse but the question for TDs is if the GRA received proper scrutiny in 2015 and whether self-ID "for all purposes" was intended to cover violent criminals.

Thanks Second Row. That is what I would have thought. As for owing me a response I won't be holding my breath.

@SecondRow

Limerick Leaders tweet and article is gone.

I strongly suspect the jigsaw identification of the person concerned is the legal issue here even more than journalists fearing to report on self ID problems.

Boards.ie also banned discussion of "a case currently before the courts" and deleted previous posts about it.

I think you might be right there. I wonder is that why I didn't get a response from any TD. Even though I only mentioned that Barbie was in a woman's prison.
