Another one for Irish Feminists - this person holds a GRC and might soon be held in Dochas prison with women and childrem

This is a harrowing read.
I feel immensely sorry for the child that was. However I feel more frightened for the women and children G might be incarcerated with.

There should be a law that someone's real sex is stated in criminal cases.

I think reporting was restricted by the courts. Of course, that can only apply in the jurisdiction.

Why was that not mentioned in any newspaper?

Apparently there was an injunction against it being mentioned by the press. I don't know how that works. Would the judge in this persons' case have issued the injunction? If so, why?

And I would love to know what was the reason for the other thread being removed so it can be avoided here? Mumsnet isn't subject to injunctions issued by the Irish courts.

The case is horrendous. However that is separate from the issue for the possible repercussions for women in general.

Thanks Dáil and Seanad for shunting legislation through without any impact assessment or public consultation. Wonder if any Crispin Blunt like secret agreements were made.

The president of the Law Society said that the problems wrt prisons hadn't been foreseen. Legislators decided the problems would not be looked at or discussed. They decided this outcome for women.

Why have MNHQ removed the thread? It is in another jurisdiction.

I had no idea it was a trans teenager after reading numerous articles on it recently. I was wondering how a girl can threaten to rape someone. Now it makes sense.
Why was that not mentioned in any newspaper?

It is awful, I read a good bit of the earlier appeal judgement this morning. I guess the mother is on the run from her young adult son now.

Not that it will change the immediate peril of the women this person comes into contact with, but I would love to know where the father is now. I hope he has been locked up for years but who knows?
