Another one for Irish Feminists - this person holds a GRC and might soon be held in Dochas prison with women and childrem

This is a harrowing read.
I feel immensely sorry for the child that was. However I feel more frightened for the women and children G might be incarcerated with.

There are 20 beds in Limericks women's prison. Does this mean three biological males will be in Limerick women's prison?
Good to see that they are being kept separate from the female prisoners.

Men of Ireland: got to vote on whether women could have reproductive rights or not.

Women of Ireland: no say in having the right to be safe from violent men in single-sex spaces being snatched from under their noses; abused and harassed for even mentioning it.

@Weatherwarning, so you're reading it that they're asking the media and politicians to ensure there's no public discussion or airing of divergent views?

I've lived through vicious debate and discussion about divorce, abortion, marriage equality and a lot of it was deeply unsettling and unpleasant but I have never thought we'd be better served by not having the debate or discussion.

How can they not see the irony in wanting to censor discussion and debate as they name call those who are asking for that open discussion and debate? I agree with you 100% @Weatherwarning, both about who we are and how chilling these attempts are.

They appear to also be advocating for censorship of GC views by the Irish media. GC women are not far right bigots. We are ordinary women, mothers and tax payers who have legitimate rights and concerns, these attempts to silence us are chilling. Amnesty have lost their way. As for the NCWI Biscuit

What a contradiction in terms - Amnesty who are supposedly an organisation fighting for human rights decide they don't care about the human rights of 50% of the population. Disgusting. Colm O'Gorman can go down a drain pipe and never come out

I saw that on Twitter last night and re-read it several times to be sure I understood that Amnesty (and the NWCI) were asking for people who hold different viewpoints to be denied political representation. I thought I was past the point of being shocked.

Colm O Gorman and the board of the NWCI need to step down from their positions for signing that. It is undemocratic, intolerant and seeks to silence any dissenting voices in Ireland. Any political party that does not condemn this is complicit by their silence.

My understanding is that if you have a GRC as a born female then you are not seen as a male. Therefore you are not entitled to exemptions on the ground of female gender under the Equal Status Act.

The IGG allows anyone who lives their life as a female to join them Hmm. Males can also volunteer.

It basically means that anyone, even if they don’t have a GRC, who “fells like a woman/wears a dress/puts on lipstick/whatever the fuck is living like a woman“ can become a leader or join as a junior.

The legislation is a load of bolleaux, isn't it? Sex not even protected. No concern about safeguarding, even after all the abuses of the past. The same shower who are on a bandwagon condemning the abuses when they were committed by others in the past, are now basically supporting the creation of situations where abuse can happen more easily in the future.
