Brilliant debate on GMB about #RIPJKRowling

Just watched it, it featured Benjamin Butterworth, George Galloway and Rose of Dawn. BB got his arse handed to him by Piers and Rose was brilliant! Well worth a watch! It was on at 8.15 so you can watch it in an hours time if you're at home. Also Twitter reactions were v positive, with pp wanting to buy the book as a result!

He hadn’t read the book. He couldn’t answer why that particular book was transphobic because he hadn’t read it. Imagine going on tv to denounce a book you hadn’t even bothered to read. I wonder if any of him and his vile little group of nasties has ever bothered to read JKR’s essays? That might be why they can never ever provide a single transphobic quote. It was fantastic, I believe I may have let out a few whoops at certain points.

I wonder if the interviewers thought Rose was going to have a go at JK, as they kept calling them a “trans activist” and didn’t say anything after Rose’s excellent contribution.

And isn’t it similar? Two men who aren’t trans ranting about women in the name of trans rights. As Gina Carano said the other day “they need to find less abusive representation”.

He never even read the book yet he was telling everyone not to buy the book

What was a shame was that RoseofDawn was given so little time! Rose is very articulate and frankly, more of that is needed in these discussions. I enjoy listening to Rose's videos, even if I don't agree wholly with some, the videos are usually informative. Much more calm and logical on subjects than the IW. So, I hope Piers will have more Rose less IW in the future.

I don’t think Rose of Dawn needed to say any more, than they did, because they kept it succinct, whereas it was a joy to listen to that rambling buffoon Ben Button, waffling on and repeating the nonsense, even when it was pointed out to him that he was wrong. 🤣 This has put me in great form.

That was glorious! (And I love Rose of Dawn's accent). Benjamin Button was very odd to watch - I can't believe how like Harrop he is - it was very disconcerting

The full clip is a thing of beauty. George Galloway and Rose of Dawn both excellent.

George is also right about controlling the narrative arc of fiction, something Lionel Shriver has been vehemently against and with whom I agree.
