What a bunch of sanctimonious, humourless, racist arseholes. Only my opinion of course.

It's also a reason for alerting workplace HR departments to the risks to women employees of giving in to demands about pronouns. Nobody seems too fussed whether the men do or not, but women seem to be exposed to quite invasive scrutiny and are damned if they don't and damned if they do anything more than meekly comply with the obvious.

I have seen no attacks at all on men who won't list their pronouns - have I missed something?

Perhaps whole departments and whole companies need to go the "beep, boop, bop" route in a Spartacus response to keep the most vulnerable safe?

SerenityNowwwww · 15/09/2020 11:28

It’s never good enough. It’s never enough.

She has cut to the chase and refused to play their game. Good on her.

I think it's clear that we're much safer not having Twitter accounts at all!

There are some very nasty corners in various social media and it seems at the moment that Twitter has some extremist vigilante groups lurking there just waiting to pounce. I don't go there any more, having once had to have a work account that was never more than just boringly workaday, I'm glad to say.

How someone can be bullied relentlessly to do something, give in and then be bullied again for how they did it is scarcely credible, let alone the threats about destroying a career over it.

Margaret Atwood said that men are afraid women will laugh at them: women are afraid men will kill them.

Women are often expected to take the nastiest jokes on the chin and get accused of having no sense of humour. Men often feel really threatened by laughter. Interesting to see how some TRAs are reacting to this particular pronoun issue.

So it's now gone from showing support / being an ally if you DO choose put pronouns in your twitter bio, to being a hateful transphobic bigot if you choose NOT to put them in?

Just so that I am clear what I should do if I ever felt the need to get a twitter account .

ThePankhurstConnection · 15/09/2020 10:32

I don't think this is an isolated incident. It seems to be the new way to harrass blue tick accounts. I have seen a few examples in the last few days demanding people put pronouns into their bio 'to show their support' including men. That said, I doubt the men have had the same level of vicious harassment Gina Carano received since she committed the double crime of resisting and being female.

ChattyLion · 15/09/2020 09:25

These bullies are going against the Yogyakarta Principles, which state that nobody should be forced to declare their gender identity.

That’s very helpful to know in case other people are told to do this in a professional context.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 15/09/2020 08:17

It’s all so very sad and worrying. For women and trans people who just want to get on with their lives

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 15/09/2020 07:56

I’m not against trans lives at all. They need to find less abusive representation

Just about sums it up

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 15/09/2020 07:54

Oooh, Disney is very woke and powerful, I hope she survives this.

Demanding pronouns under threats, how very "kind", eh?

SerenityNowwwww · 15/09/2020 07:51

Put them on put them in!
No - you are doing it wrong - put them in how I tell you to!!!
You won’t - then, then, I’m tellin’

YessicaHaircut · 15/09/2020 07:50

“If you won’t put your pronouns in your bio I’ll scream and scream til I’m sick! I can.”

WiserOlder · 15/09/2020 07:41

Wow, she is handling it as well as it is possible to handle this abuse (but they dont even recognise that)

CaraDuneRedux · 15/09/2020 07:37

Twirls in new user name (I had something similar a while back, before a de-reg and re-reg).

Well, this Mandalorian fan thinks she's fabulous - always has been, even more so now!

SophocIestheFox · 15/09/2020 07:31

Beep bop boop!

“Need to find less abusive representation” 😂

Everyone has the right to self determine their identity and express it as they see fit, except uppity women, who will do as they’re fucking well told.

JonasKahnwald · 15/09/2020 07:13

I've just followed her on twitter so her account is back 👍

Jintyfer · 15/09/2020 06:47

@NotYourCisterinAus

You WILL say the words. Angry

May I suggest that everyone with SM accounts add "Beep, Boop, Bop" pronouns to their bios?

Done!

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 15/09/2020 06:41

Christ what a bunch of whiny piss babies.

ChattyLion · 15/09/2020 06:02

The self righteous narcissistic hypocrisy around trying to enforce pronoun statements never ceases to be shocking. It’s like trying to enforce religious belief on non believers. Just absolutely no.
I’m sorry that this woman is getting aggression for not caving to demands around it. Flowers

Pronouns are rohypnol

Torvean32 · 15/09/2020 03:54

I love her attitude. I've never seen a more precious and entitled as some of these twitter users. So by their rules anything is offensive as long as they say so.

NiceGerbil · 15/09/2020 03:07

Well women have complained for years about being called things that aren't their name.

That was trivial though. And making a fuss.

HarryHarry1 · 15/09/2020 02:34

I liked her before and I like her even more now. Everyone should have beep bop boop as pronouns.

I seriously don’t even understand why non-trans people would use them. If you are a trans person who doesn’t quite “pass” as your acquired gender, then I understand why you might want to make it clear that you want to be called she/her or he/him (though why on earth you think you can dictate how people refer to you when they’re not speaking directly to you is beyond me). But why does anyone else have to do it?

Soubriquet · 15/09/2020 02:00

Brave woman! I hope she doesn’t cow to public demands.

Hopefully she will realise that there are lot more supporters than people trying to pull her down

Boop/Bop/Beep!

NiceGerbil · 15/09/2020 01:57

I thought that what you want to be identified as/ called is not up for debate?

How is this worse than any of the other myriad of pronouns out there?

Eg uwm.edu/lgbtrc/support/gender-pronouns/#:~:text=What%20are%20some%20commonly%20used,male%E2%80%9D%20or%20%E2%80%9Cmasculine.%E2%80%9D

Scroll down to yellow section.

There is something in common with the people who get told who they are and words they can use, isn't there...
