The girl will be remaining anonymous, and she won't be creating any videos as I saw one TRA request on Twitter

God, I think I saw that one-wanted to see a video of her as 'proof' she wasn't being used Confused How sinister did that come across? Especially coming from a side that love doxing, harassing and threatening anyone who dares to ask questions.

Floisme · 06/09/2020 18:09

Good - that's absolutely as it should be.

TheBigBad · 06/09/2020 18:07

The girl will be remaining anonymous, and she won't be creating any videos as I saw one TRA request on Twitter. She does not see herself as a figurehead - her perspective is that of young woman, raised to be open minded and articulate, who has had family reasons to be very aware of the relevant issues, and feels that she is in a fortunate position as a mid-teenager who can actually make a difference rather than getting frustrated at being powerless. Of the curated messages she has seen, the ones that thank her on behalf of their children, and speak of everyone doing their bit, have been her favourites.

Floisme · 06/09/2020 18:00

I do actually feel uneasy at the way climate change movements promoted Greta Thunberg as a figurehead while she was still a child. I thought that was unhealthy. And likewise if this girl were to become the face of GC feminism and started getting invitations to address the UN then I would have the same misgivings. Somehow I can't see that happening but I do hope her identity remains unknown.

NearlyGranny · 06/09/2020 17:39

TRAs say Miss A is being manipulated from behind the scenes by adults; climate change deniers say the same of Greta Thunberg. Funny, I never heard anyone say it of Malalia Yousafzai when she was a similar age.

The teenage activist survivors of the Florida school shooting had the same accusations levelled at them.

Anything to silence unpopular or uncomfortable messages, I guess.

Annoying how the TRAs are focusing on the age of the young woman, insinuating that she is being groomed to say this stuff. As if! This is how toxic this situation has got, that she had to resort to legal action to prevent children from having to accept males in her spaces.

The usual inability to believe that a female or child could really have a strong feeling of distress or a problem with accepting males into their spaces.

And a rush to find as many ways as possible to not listen to them, and to know better than they do what their problem is and why it's not actually a problem. Even when it's a teen. The utter disrespect and inability to listen or have empathy is unfortunately becoming trademark.

Bring on the public enquiry

Hasn't money gone to Stonewall from Government coffers, so without our say so, we've been funding our own demise. That's a pretty odd thing for us to do dontya think?

What is the word? Projection?
MichelleofzeResistance · 06/09/2020 15:15

Award plaques and pretty badges, and wine and dine awards evenings also need to be looked into.

Anyone can hold them, anyone can set criteria - if they have the money behind them to make them pretty and cover the campaigning and advertising. Looks really nice, makes an organisation look really great quite easily and cheaply - and signs an organisation up to a political lobby and keeping faith with them.

One day they'll write a script that they all frickin stick to!

Because they think it's fine for children to consent to medication which could destroy their fertility, along with all the other side effects, yet when a 14 year old speaks out to try and defend her sex based rights, she must be being groomed, used as a puppet, too young to be taking on something like this 🙄 Make up your damn minds, people.

I applaud her, whoever she is. This is the very opposite of being groomed. She's hopefully putting a stop to the grooming of girls everywhere.

I think these people should be directing their anger at Stonewall. Instead of doing things by the book, they've gone about this slyly. They've done themselves, and the people they're supposed to be helping, no favours at all.

If 12 year olds are old enough to know their own minds and go on puberty blockers which put them on a pathway to potential infertility, why can’t a 14 year old express their discomfort with mixed sex facilities being imposed on them and coercive guidance being used in schools?
Winesalot · 06/09/2020 14:57

I also think it is a great example of actually having to listen to what the future women's leaders think of this manoeuvring to completely change their future prospects and safety is part of this.

Just like Keira's case will force people to understand that the 'believe people are what they say they are' and then ... 'oh, they were never trans in the first place' is simply inane.

Just like Ann's case against HR Commission and the Sonia Appleby's Safeguarding case and Alison Bailey's case and Helen Watt's Girlguiding case, and Harry's case, and Maya's case.

In each of these cases, Stonewall has been a part of whether providing misrepresented advice about the Equality Act, or other advice to organisations about their policies so that organisation can be a 'champion' or simply through perpetuating mantra's and giving credence to pseudo science where there is no actual fact to back these theories up.

And this is just the current cases. The future will be bleak I think.

But yes, to me, it is the complete lack of scrutiny that seems to have been done within government that has allowed this lobby group to have the power to mis shape the governments own intention for the law that the come into legislation.

There should be a complete rerun of hansard to remind current MPs just what was voted for and the intentions behind it.

And the platitudes that were handed out that protections will not be lost have been blown away.

Floisme · 06/09/2020 14:49

Of course they will do that - going for the player instead of the ball is the oldest and laziest trick in the book. It's also what you do when you've no proper arguments.

Well played Fair Cop and Safe Schools Alliance and particularly that teenager who, I'm ashamed to say, is far more courageous than I am.

@yourhairiswinterfire

How embarrassing for them, being taken down by a 14 year old.

I just read this bit on the fund raiser page:

The guidance also puts forward another example of a potential hate crime in its lesson plans. A worksheet pictures a much older adult transwoman, (male who identifies as a woman), alongside a group of girls in the women’s toilets. The sheet later goes on to describe the transwoman crying because the girls comment to each other ‘that’s a man. Why is he in here?’ The transwoman then goes into the men's toilets where men bang on the door and shout insults.

Putting it in girls heads that they need to #bekind and act as a shield for men. Pure emotional manipulation.

I wonder how much effort Stonewall have made to get men to work on their attitudes and behaviour, to be more accepting of transwomen (who belong to the male sex class) in their spaces? Probably about as much effort as they've put into condemning the bullying of lesbians by men from their so called ''community''.

I think this example would be great for a lesson on how coercion works, how women are expected to set aside their boundaries to please men and how they are held accountable to the behaviour of men over whom they have no control. A fine example of how the patriarchy works to the harm of women.
MichelleofzeResistance · 06/09/2020 13:44

As Wines says: fundamental issues here about:

a) how civil servants and whole organisations built on the premise of being impartial and representing the whole population, went against their own policies and practice, and were sucked into being a mouthpiece for a political lobby group with very partisan interests. See the TRA Lobby's own comments about the quiet cups of tea with people in back rooms achieving so much.

Why were no whistles blown? Why did no one in those back room cosy meetings apparently pause to think, never mind point out the conflict of interest with their policies and public duty of impartiality?

#scandal number 1. A public inquiry needed, and heads should roll over this alone.

b) Those public servants, public departments and whole organisations (with legal teams) either unknowingly or quite intentionally reinterpreted, reframed and downright misquoted the law, set by parliament, to fit the partisan interests of the political lobby group.

This reframing created guidance that actively discriminated and went against the interests of groups of people protected under actual law.

Questions arise again: why did public bodies trained in equality, safeguarding, the culture of impartiality and public duty, not question this, whistle blow, and which is it: did they miss the reframing of the law? Which is one massive problem. Or did they actively collude with a political lobby group to blur and distort the law in the lobby's group's interest?

The TRA lobby's own comments have mentioned intentional plans to change practice to what they wanted so that the law would 'catch up' when the way they wanted things to be was pretty much made normal. And democracy and public opinion would have the least chance of getting in the way.

#Massive Scandal no 2. Public inquiry needed and lots of heads should roll, since if it is acceptable that whatever law is created, what actually happens in the country is controlled by whatever political lobby group is in bed with public servants/organisation - MPs, Parliament, HoC, House of Lords, all a very expensive waste of time and pointless to continue the existence of, and there's the end of electorate representation and democracy.

Anonymous women on this forum knew all this stuff years ago - further questions arise about why no one else was paying attention when they were being paid to do so?

Massive. Absolutely massive mess.

Spero this is - well, it's bloody tragic it's had to be done, but it's a relief to see it being dragged into the open where elected representatives will have no option but to face it. And at this point I owe you so many drinks you will need to bring a wheelbarrow I can take you home in.

This has happened because the CPS withdrew the erroneous anti-bullying guidance, pending review, but the guidance has clearly been influenced by Stonewall's wrong advice.

As the CPS are still signed up to the Stonewall scheme that insists Stonewall's policies are embedded in their internal and external work, they can certainly be seen to be biased and any review of the withdrawn guidance also. This is not allowed for a public body.

If this can be shown with the CPS, there are around 60 other government bodies currently in the scheme.

Watch. The. Dominoes. Fall.
