around the guidance for the Equality Act 2010, and is crowdfunding for a judicial review. Thought I ought to spread the word.

Bump. The digging seems to have slowed down a bit, on this and the SSA one. The latter has only 2 more days to go and is still a couple thousand short. Maybe we need to pick up our spades again.

PearPickingPorky · 10/09/2020 12:39

However I am still very happy to support those brave people who are willing to stick their heads above the parapet and take on the stress of fighting a court case. They are doing this for all of us. This is the least I can do for them.

❤

Need, this is my view too (although I can't afford as much as you but I'm sure there are hundreds, thousands, like me and we all add up). I can't be totally out publicly, I can't lose my job, but I can use that job to fund the other women who, by bravery and/or necessity, are out there publicly because they have lost theirs or are taking legal action for the good of all of us.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 10/09/2020 12:15

Yes, I hope so too. She seems very confident. I'm just don't have any faith left in our public institutions any more Sad

Thanks for posting. Just had my email.

Ann is clear:

Whatever happens we are assured of a victory.

God I hope so.

Delighted to get this in my inbox this morning:

^Update on Official sources provide unlawful guidance on the 2010 Equality Act!

Dear Supporters

You truly are magnificent!

I want to thank you all again. Thank you for understanding the importance of this case. Thank you for standing up for women. Thank you for your comments, very many brought a lump to my throat. Thanks to you all, we now have enough funds to cover initial legal costs and also some funds in hand towards the second stage

At one end of the spectrum, some of you dug deeply into shallow purses in order to donate, an especial thank you to all for that sacrifice in these tough times. At the other end of the spectrum, one of you donated £10k - that was overwhelming. Whoever you are, just know that your donation catapulted the fund to a point at which I could stop worrying and I am so very grateful for that.

The Defendants asked for a further 14 days to which we agreed, so they now have until 22 Sept to respond. Apart from occasional posts on social media, until the way forward becomes clear I shall now go quiet and will not be soliciting donations.

Whatever happens we are assured of a victory.

If the Defendants capitulate and meet our stipulated requirements the case will end. Our requirements: (i) amend all unlawful guidance, whether in guidance documents or in the Statutory Code of Practice; (ii) pin a prominent announcement to the home page of their websites for a specified period; (iii) inform a specified list of organisations directly.

If the Defendants decide to fight, we go forward to the second stage which is to seek permission to proceed to a Judicial Review.

At this point, I will reactivate the campaign for donations.

Funds and excess funds
The way that CrowdJustice works is that the case owner [me, Ann Sinnott] never has hands on the money – this is the principal reason why I chose CJ. Donated funds are remitted to the solicitor. After all costs are met, excess funds are returned to CJ and are donated to CJ’s preferred charity. However, it is possible for the case owner to nominate other CJ cases for receipt of these funds. That is what I will do, for there are several other cases fighting different aspects of this issue, all worthy of support. When the time arrives, at whatever stage of the process, I will let you know the cases that I intend to nominate.

Thank you all again.

Ann Sinnott^

Well, it’s nice to see they’re getting desperate.

@PronounssheRa

Ah, but its all money laundering and proceeds from crime. I'm astonished at just how far some people are divorced from reality.
Yes, I'm glad I was able to push my dirty notes through my computer screen, imagine if I had to use my bank account or credit card
RedDogsBeg · 08/09/2020 19:36

@DeRigueurMortis

this is money laundering

There are not enough HmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmmin the world to respond to that...

The positive is that if this is the level of intellect we are facing then it's in our favour.

The level of stupid and the sheer desperation to close down any dissent or scrutiny of their agenda is just draw dropping and pathetic.

Mind you what would you expect from someone who took Miranda Yardley to court and lost spectacularly and an organisation that had its knuckles rapped by a Judge in another court case and has been refused permission to intervene in other cases.

Needmoresleep · 08/09/2020 19:30

I donate about £1000 per month to various causes. I can afford it.

Luckily there are a whole host of charities I now no longer feel the need to donate to. NSPCC, Old Vic, etc, etc. So plenty for digging. I have even decided to drop my BBC license, and life is cheaper without visiting M&S and Waitrose.

Lockdown was more complicated as I wanted to support people who were struggling, eg my late mother’s carer who was having to shield, and a couple of others.

However I am still very happy to support those brave people who are willing to stick their heads above the parapet and take on the stress of fighting a court case. They are doing this for all of us. This is the least I can do for them.

Oh that’s hilarious. So we’re now being funded both by the US Christian Right and by mysterious crime syndicates?

DeRigueurMortis · 08/09/2020 19:18

So what do you make of Helen re-tweeting the tweet below in response to a lesbian woman...

It's a classic...Hmm

@Malahaha

I've given £10 to all the current cases, sometimes repeatedly. I don't live in the UK and am not British, but I support you women (and men) 100% and am glad that your country is leading the way. Hopefully Ireland's women are watching and will one day realise what they've done.
Thank you so much. Flowers

I hope the UK can lead the way for feminists in Ireland and elsewhere to take courage.

It comes with the territory of the ideology. Grin

Using proceeds of crime to fund court cases? 😂

But surely they are supporting these cases - after all the outcome is that which follows the law. Do the not support following the law?

DialSquare · 08/09/2020 18:09

I don't think they understand how money laundering works!

I'm really not. Grin

For once I am indebted to Mimmymum. There were a few causes on that spreadsheet I hadn't donated to.

😂😂😂

DeRigueurMortis · 08/09/2020 17:42

@DialSquare

I donate between £50 to £100 towards the current cases every month at a rate of £10 to £20 for each case. I imagine there are many like me. Just ordinary women who are in a position to use some of their disposable income towards the cause. I also get a little thrill by deleting the extra fee towards crowd justice each time!

Absolutely.

I'm another "ordinary" woman who does similar in similar amounts.

Frankly I view it as an important investment for the future - for myself, my mother, my DSD, my cousin and every other women in the UK.

I think they underestimate just how strongly many women feel about this issue.

It's worth the equivalent price of a long weekend away or a new designer bag each year and I donate gladly.

Every penny matters and the volume of women donating small amounts annually is really important.

£1, £5 or £20 it all adds up and what Helen doesn't get is just how much is raised buy these small individual donations.

CriticalCondition · 08/09/2020 17:42

Me too. My professional body has been thoroughly captured. I entered into a polite but persistent correspondence with them and received nothing but platitudes, mantras and a refusal to engage. When I looked at Stonewall's immense list of champions -customers- the capture became obvious. They should know better.
So I'm happy to put my hand in my pocket and help fund these legal challenges with a few quid every month. Women shouldn't have to pay to have their EXISTING rights legally clarified but if that's what it takes, so be it.

JellyFishSquish · 08/09/2020 17:35

"Gender critical cult" and "anti-trans crowdfunder"?

Being called a cult is hilarious, considering who is doing the naming.

Helen, this crowdfunder is needed so Sinnott can fight the injustice of Equality Act guidance that is misrepresented/misinterpreted. Not anti-trans. Transgender people have their rights intact.

It's women whose rights are being pissed on from a great height so mimmymum is gaslighting her followers by suggesting the opposite.

Oh Helen. "Unknown and untraceable sources"...kinda like a crowdfunder, amiright?

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 08/09/2020 17:29

How fabulous of her to publicise them and make my life easy.
