JKR - French national radio

So there's just been a "discussion" on French radio station France Inter about JKR. No look at what she actually said, just a statement of fact that she sent an anti-Trans tweet. Apparently there's been a big reduction in Harry Potter sales compared with what might be expected at this time of year. They mentioned the "cancellation culture" for people who have "retrograde views", and that fans were anyway pissed off with her for insisting on controlling the Harry Potter world by writing sequels, which prevented them from imagining it for themselves.
I'd put money on the person reporting it never having read the tweet.

Of course there are those that would say this doesn't 'mean anything' but i'm sure it would, if the stats were the other way round and she was proving more popular than Emma Watson.
I say it doesn't mean a thing, seeing twitter seems to have become an echo chamber for those who are just like Emma. So hardly the general public view.

Surprisingly Twitter has been awash with tweeters complaining how their JKR likes just keep on disappearing . A bit like all the gender critical tweeters and Reddit posters who are there one day and gone the next.

Wonder why Emma doesn't have the same problem? Confused

Re follower count and likes, quite a few people on here have noticed twitter's algorithms gaming the system - people have "liked" a JKR comment, noted how many other likes there were, then gone back the next day and found the count has fallen by a few thousand or so.

There's something funny going on, but I don't think it's that people don't like JKR any more - the book sales figures would indicate quite the reverse.

Well, how very dare she!

I mean you'd just never say something like that that loud, would you?

Nor host anyone who even hinted at it.

Just back away quietly.

Interesting that Emma Watson's tweet suporting trans people has had close to a million 'likes' which is about three times as many as even the most liked of JKR's on the subject. JKR's more recent tweets have dwindled much further away still and she's lucky to get a few thousand likes. Of course there are those that would say this doesn't 'mean anything' but i'm sure it would, if the stats were the other way round and she was proving more popular than Emma Watson.

The losses she's making on her follower count have been extraordinary too; quietly she currently loses hundreds sometimes thousands of followers each day; twenty thousand this month alone. There's a bad 'vibe' about her and weirdly it's not going away.

Things like this probably don't help matters

I heard a snippet of this - was also appalled they glossed over what she said, how she said it and why!

I don't know why France would be completely different to the rest of the world, because meanwhile:

"1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has been re-released in China and is on course to break the 1billion dollar mark, making it one of a handful of films to do so.

  1. A new Studio Tour type park opening in Japan, with sets and props like the one in London.
  1. Digital Back to Hogwarts planned, with various cast members taking part, and donations being taken for Lumos, in an attempt to keep the normal crowds of fans from King's Cross station on September the first.
  1. H&M launched a Harry Potter clothing range, loads of it sold out in days"

... the woman is going from strength to strength.

Perhaps the radio programme implying that women's rights are 'retrograde views', might be a little biased?

Grin get a life!

Does this refer to sales in France? I thought JKR sales had gone up post her brilliant, thoughtful, factual and compassionate intervention.

Which is the conclusion for anyone with a brain who actually read what she wrote.

I suspect this is a niche group of fans, given the success of the fantastic beasts films.

Anyway less than a month till the new Cormoran Strike book!
