If I don’t think the earth is flat can I join
Can anti vaxxers join?!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 16/08/2020 10:17

@aliasundercover

A recruitment adviser invited her to hand over “details and any evidence” of officers who may share her views so they could be “investigated”

!!!

Oh my fucking god
Siameasy · 16/08/2020 10:00

I think it‘s like saying you must believe in God to work here

Onestepup · 16/08/2020 09:55

What would the police do if a suspect was white but insisted they were black? 25 but claimed to be 14? 6 foot tall but claimed to be 5'2"? Self ID'd themselves as a police officer despite having had no training? Would these 'beliefs' be accepted by the police as if they were fact?

Lougle · 16/08/2020 09:55

I can't think of a situation where it would be necessary to proclaim that fact in the course of duty though? I absolutely believe it is fact, but the duty is to uphold the law, not proclaim/debate/discuss these facts.

Onestepup · 16/08/2020 09:50

Sex is a biological fact. It is determined at conception and every human either has a Y chromosome or they don't. This is not a 'belief' which cannot be proven. It is a fact.

ArabellaScott · 16/08/2020 09:16

That is genuinely shocking.

Also - is that really a picture of two police officers holding puppy-fetishists on leads? Honestly really? Not photoshopped?

What on earth is going on?

PumbaasCucumbas · 16/08/2020 09:08

Furthermore, your faith would be a protected characteristic in the equality’s act

PumbaasCucumbas · 16/08/2020 09:07

Also, as someone said upthread, GC views are compatible with current law in this country... it’s the genderist view which is more akin to religion.

Sexnotgender · 16/08/2020 08:58

@Lougle

I'm not sure that I disagree with this. I'm a Christian, so I have a particular set of beliefs which I base my life around, but when I was nursing, I had to leave those beliefs at the door. I wasn't allowed to share those beliefs with my patients (unless they were specifically asking me to, e.g. if a Christian patient asked if I believed, I would say I did). I am gender critical, but I wouldn't share that belief with a patient.

As a prospective police officer, I wouldn't share my privately held beliefs. So unless there was a question such as 'do you believe that TWAW?' it shouldn't come up during the process.

This is more akin to being banned from being a nurse for being a Christian.
Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 16/08/2020 08:57

**The appalling statistics showing the failure to prosecute rape cases and the police's determination to hide the reality of domestic abuse against women by removing all sex based data would suggest the police are nationally very keen to actively discriminate against women - especially those who know and understand what a woman is.

^This^

highame · 16/08/2020 08:53

I can't believe that this is actually true.

There are definitely GC men out there, would they also not get jobs with the police force. It just sounds so daft

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 16/08/2020 08:52

Harry Miller has already challenged the College of Policing about its attitude to transgenderism and free speech
www.faircop.org.uk/

It’s an uphill struggle, but we have allies and people are starting to wake up.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 16/08/2020 08:45

The police and courts themselves ignore the law by allowing male criminals to self-ID as women. They then take action against anyone who disputes this. The law does not yet allow self-ID, let alone enforce it, but it has been slipped into common usage.

YeOldeNameChange · 16/08/2020 08:35

Very disturbing and at odds with the reality of the job itself. PACE recognises sex in searching for instance so PACE is transphobic

cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 08:23

I know words like "chilling", "terrifying" and "dystopian" get thrown around quite a lot around here (not without reason), but this is the real deal. Probably the most disturbing piece I've read so far. This is the fucking police. Christ. Huge credit to the officer for reporting, I hope she is protected. This story deserves to explode.

BlodwynBludd · 16/08/2020 08:09

I really hope that she's allowed to remain anonymous.

KarenFitzkaren · 16/08/2020 07:46

Those individuals who asked her to report her colleagues for understanding the truth need to be identified and dealt with (sacked).

Janie143 · 16/08/2020 07:39

The request that she report colleagues who state the same "views" for "investigation" is shocking and terrifying

KarenFitzkaren · 16/08/2020 07:38

It's not looking good for the police here is it. I suspect a legal challenge to this. The police seemed to have forgotten that their job is to apply the law, not rewrite it to suit themselves.

Sexnotgender · 16/08/2020 07:35

Wow. I can’t believe they actually admitted that.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 16/08/2020 07:35

Shocking, but not surprising. Next step in all this bullshit.

Another nail in the coffin against preventing/policing sex based crime/victimisation.

Anyone got a useful email address to complain to?

National level?

Local level - Esp for Norfolk/Surrey?

What about the crime commissioners?

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 16/08/2020 07:33

Leaked video of police recruiting process ...

PaleBlueMoonlight · 16/08/2020 07:29

Though, to be clear, pretty much whatever she had said about the realities of sex and the social construct of gender, it would still be terrifying.
