I was just trying to say that people make such a big deal about biology but biology fucks up sometimes and then you use that faulty biology to define people.

JanMeyer · 16/08/2020 18:04

Downes syndrome is biology but I don't make an issue of it. A lot of people on here are obssessed with trans discrimination.

First off, it's Downs Syndrome, not Downes. And secondly what the hell does that have to do with your assertion that human beings can change sex? Why would you "make an issue" of it? What have people with Downs Syndrome ever done to you?
People with Downs aren't going around demanding that the rest of the world pretends they don't have the condition. Unlike trans people who are demanding that we ignore what's right in front of us, namely their actual sex. So yeah, i ask again what the hell does Downs Syndrome have to do with any of this?

PronounssheRa · 16/08/2020 18:01

Downes syndrome is biology but I don't make an issue of it

I don't understand what you're getting at here, anyone with downs syndrome is protected under the equality act. This science denying bullshit weakens protections for everyone.

OvaHere · 16/08/2020 18:00

What has Downs Syndrome got to do with whether people can change sex? I guess that's a new one to add to the bingo card. Hmm

OvaHere · 16/08/2020 17:54

@attackedbycritters

Sorry, I was not clear. I was trying to demonstrate to gotalife how ridiculous their rewording " proof of transphobia through analogy efforts were.

Yes if you change words, you change the meaning. We can all play that game. My version just highlighting the misogyny ..at least that was clear !

Apologies I missed the sarcasm.
Gottalife · 16/08/2020 17:52

Downes syndrome is biology but I don't make an issue of it. A lot of people on here are obssessed with trans discrimination. Biology should not be used to discriminate. Biology is a fucking nightmare.
I am a AIS survivor. These days I don't know what bloody sex I should be
but I get on OK with being female.

thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 16/08/2020 17:50

Get real. The police are not going to employ anyone who is potentially racist, homophobic, sexist, ageist or transphobic.

😂That's a good one-the police not hiring any racists. Satire, right?

Also, have you seen the homophobic shit coming out of TRAs mouths recently? They've basically branded gay men and lesbian women perverts. Must be a wonderful feeling to be part of the LGB community that worked hard for years and years to end those attitudes, only to attacked by the new kids on the block and called 'genital fetishists.'

They can fuck off with their double standards. Demanding kindness from everyone, whilst demonstrating homophobia, racism, and misogyny themselves. Police better not hire one of them then, eh?

blubellsarebells · 16/08/2020 17:48

Of course the police never employ racists or sexists. 🤔
What planet are you on?
If they stopped fucking about with all this non crime twitter thought policing they could sort out thier massive racism problem and maybe even, oh I dont know, solve a fucking rape or two.
Is that too much to ask?
It beggars believe that not only do they do this, admit to it, but there are people here defending it.
The world has gone mad.

GCAcademic · 16/08/2020 17:32

@Gottalife

“I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,” she wrote.

Just change a few words in that statement

“I must point out that I am a white supremecist, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination of black people, I do believe that white people are superior,” she wrote.

You see the police see the bigotry behind the rhetoric.

To conceive of these two things as analogous, you must either believe that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that race has a scientific basis.

Could you clarify which is the case?

DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:31

And as for the idea that the police weed out all the sexists, or indeed give the slightest shiny shit about even attempting to weed out sexists... Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha (hollow laugh in case you were wondering).

We have the Victim's Commissioner for England and Wales pointing out that rape prosecutions have reached such an all-time low that rape might as well be decriminalized.

Yet here we have friggin' police forces spending time and resources chasing up people for tweets recognising basic biology, and implementing HR procedures to further marginalise women applicants.

Slow fucking hand clap from over here.

Floisme · 16/08/2020 17:30

'Get real' - from a poster who appears to be telling us that humans can change sex is possibly my favourite quote on Mumsnet today.

PronounssheRa · 16/08/2020 17:29

Gottalife

Belief in science (biological sex is fixed at conception) is a red flag, really ? Are there any other areas of science which are red flags?

DialSquare · 16/08/2020 17:28

@Gottalife

Get real. The police are not going to employ anyone who is potentially racist, homophobic, sexist, ageist or transphobic.

“I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,”
Is a red flag.

They should also watch out for those nutters who believe the earth is round. Red flags everywhere .
JanMeyer · 16/08/2020 17:28

“I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,” Is a red flag.

So you think understanding basic biology is a red flag? You aren't very bright are you? Or do you really believe humans can change sex?

And as for the police not employing anyone who's potentially a racist 😅😅😅😡 Guess they missed that memo didn't they. Yeah, if only being racist was a barrier to being a police officer.

nicky7654 · 16/08/2020 17:27

Good!

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 17:27

You are saying that acknowledging the existence of sex is fundamentally transphobic?

Tell it to the birds and the bees

cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 17:26

Gottalife

I am gender critical.

I am not transphobic and I fully support the right of trans people as enshrined in law.

The two are not mutually exclusive, despite what TRAs would like people to believe.

DialSquare · 16/08/2020 17:26

@Floisme

I'm too slow today Grin
It was worth waiting for!
DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:26

@Gottalife

Please educate me. Explain to me how one can change one's biological sex. I've been on MN a long time, I've seen this question asked a lot and I've never seen an answer. But you appear to be the poster who has the answer, so please share it with me.

DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:24

@Floisme - Grin

Floisme · 16/08/2020 17:24

cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 17:23

And even the obviously ridiculous atheist vs faith example isn't as bad as what actually happened, given that the existence of God is accepted to be a belief rather than a simple scientific truth.

HazzaTheOwl · 16/08/2020 17:23

Fair Cop cops are bloody fantastic. I’m as delighted with this sting as I am dismayed by the state of our police. Thank you, Mumsnet, for your continued interest and support. Some of us are some of you.. and we appreciate it.

Floisme · 16/08/2020 17:22

I must point out that, if you change a few words in just about any statement, you are likely to end up with .... a completely different statement.
