I doubt your "compelling" arguments would convince them any more than they are convincing us of the opposite.

Roswellconspiracy · 16/08/2020 20:17

Sympathy is transphobic.

Many of the modern transwomen today are perfectly happy in their bodies. They have no intention of taking hormones or altering themselves in anyway . I mean granted they go for the sympathy vote when it comes to campaigns and interviews but thats cos sympathy is one weapon of the very limited arsenal they have. Certainly there's no actual science or definitive proof of a girl brain in a boys body.

But actually dysphoria is not a requirement. Nor is any medical intervention. If you assume all trans people are dysphoric you are a witch to burn like the rest of us

Gottalife · 16/08/2020 20:15

@DialSquare

Shame you don't have any sympathy for women and girls Gottalife
No I would do that on a misogamists forum. No sense preaching to the converted as they say.
I am a AIS survivor

Wow, tell us about your GPS transmitter and lifejacket mountability.

Seriously though. I googled "AIS survivor" in quotes because you don't "survive" a syndrome. I don't believe I've ever heard a person who genuinely has AIS or CAIS use the phrase and it sounded completely inauthentic to me.

Turns out - no one who has AIS or CAIS uses the phrase. All that comes up when you google that is information about Automatic Identification Systems used by Vessel Information Services. It was quite educational!

Anyway. This link is relevant I think. mrkhvoice.com/index.php/2019/08/01/why-do-trans-activists-claim-to-be-intersex/
That's splitting hairs. It is the suicide attempts I survived. I think that was because of the hormone treatment But that was a long time ago now.
Claim to be? No my medical records are explicit. I was actually born with a vagina. Go ahead and attack me for that.
I am not a trans activist, just a sympathiser. I see I am really wasting my time here. Time I will never get back as they say.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/08/2020 19:39

Kantastic
Thanks for the explanation and link. I was really confused as to what AIS meant. I wasn’t thinking of intersex as it’s not something you can survive. Rather live with.

DeaconBoo · 16/08/2020 19:37

Get real. The police are not going to employ anyone who is potentially racist, homophobic, sexist, ageist or transphobic.

Do you... do you genuinely believe this? You actually think that a racist - or potentially racist, as you put it, I'm not sure what that actually means in reality - person would not be employed by the police?
All the people complaining about institutional racism are just making it up, are they?

Or did you mean to write something else? I can't tell. Words, and their meanings, matter.

You know, I'm not sure there's any point trying to argue with someone who thinks biological sex is an irrelevant factor in understanding sex-based discrimination.

It's so far divorced from reality, I don't think you could even begin to have a conversation.

Though quite what such a person thinks is the basis of sex based discrimination, is a bit of a mystery.

PronounssheRa · 16/08/2020 19:08

Aesopfable

I've been pondering something similar re gay or lesbian officers, and how this impacts their ability to define same sex attraction, when biology is a red flag and anyone can identify as a gay man or a lesbian regardless of biological sex.

Aesopfable · 16/08/2020 19:00

I wonder how they would have responded if written to as a Roman Catholic: ‘as a Catholic I believe that everyone should be treated with respect. I also follow the church’s teaching that we cannot change sex, would my Catholic faith be an issue to applying to join the police?’

ThinEndoftheWedge · 16/08/2020 18:56

Gottalife

I do not believe you can change your biological sex,”
Is a red flag.

Why didn’t someone tell me that you could change sex years ago before I spent a total of 7 years gestating, labouring, birthing and breastfeeding my 3 daughters.

I should have got my DH aka the ‘sperm maker’ to share the load.

Great- I’ll tell my three girls they are free of female bodily constraints.

Oh wait....

HotSauceCommittee · 16/08/2020 18:55

I work for a police force and did openly challenge a stonewall rep during a diversity meeting. It was really embarrassing and I was sweating and shaking, (there was plenty of tutting and sighing) but rest assured, there are some of us who are GC and who won't hide it like it's akin to racism.
Some of those Superintendents and Inspectors have been around the block enough to have written the book on male pattern offending. And that does not change for trans identified males.
I kept my job, am starting a new promotion and training tomorrow, and the force diversity champion took my name after that meeting.
Any investigation or professional standards involvement towards me will be put on record if it ever comes to that.

Deliriumoftheendless · 16/08/2020 18:53

😂 Can you imagine if someone tried to identify as having Down’s Syndrome if they weren’t?

Especially if their reasonings were based on stereotypes.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/08/2020 18:42

@Gottalife

I was just trying to say that people make such a big deal about biology but biology fucks up sometimes and then you use that faulty biology to define people.
Are you saying trans people have faulty biology? Trans people go through puberty and receive massive amounts of sex specific hormones. We are just animals with a human brain tagged on the top. Hormones influence the way the body reacts to stimuli including in a social settings. It therefore isn’t possible to ignore biology. Moreover it isn’t possible to eradicate the effects of testosterone. This isn’t radical thinking. It’s biology.
thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 16/08/2020 18:23

@Gottalife

Downes syndrome is biology but I don't make an issue of it. A lot of people on here are obssessed with trans discrimination. Biology should not be used to discriminate. Biology is a fucking nightmare. I am a AIS survivor. These days I don't know what bloody sex I should be but I get on OK with being female.
Women are discriminated against the world over because of our biological sex. I'm sick to fucking death of being told we're 'weaponizing' our lived experiences to ''discriminate'' against others.

Believing in reality isn't discriminating anyone. It's not a crime to be decently educated and have a firm understanding of biology.

Are doctors who acknowledge sex discriminating? Should we reject those who believe in it?

OldCrone · 16/08/2020 18:20

@Gottalife

I was just trying to say that people make such a big deal about biology but biology fucks up sometimes and then you use that faulty biology to define people.
You said: “I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,” Is a red flag.

Whether or not you believe that people can change their biological sex is not to do with 'faulty biology', it's to do with belief.

It is not possible to change your biological sex. Why is stating this scientific fact a 'red flag'?

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 18:20

Biology should not be used to define people

Which is why it needs to be recognised , because if you don't consciously acknowledge and recognise the biological reality of different people, you create a world where men always win, because when push comes to shove, they shove hardest because they are biggest. And then they reward people like themselves,

Pretending it doesn't exist is the surest way of ensuring it will be used to define you and control and restrict you .

JanMeyer · 16/08/2020 18:18

I was just trying to say that people make such a big deal about biology but biology fucks up sometimes and then you use that faulty biology to define people.

But biology is a big deal, and we're all still waiting for you to explain why a person rightly stating that human beings can't change sex is a red flag?
And like it or not, biology does define us. Though i take issue with the fact you just described people with Downs Syndrome as "faulty." But you know what, having Downs Syndrome does define the people with it. It causes learning and developmental issues, it can come with heart problems which can be life threatening. People with Downs often can't work or live independently. So it does define them.

Oh yeah, and what does this "faulty biology" you speak of have to do with trans people? Because that's not rooted in biology at all. Biology does fuck up sometimes, but there are still only two sexes and people can't switch between them.

Roswellconspiracy · 16/08/2020 18:16

A lot of people on here are obssessed with trans discrimination

No one else gets to access not only their own rights but those that don't belong to them aswell. It's hardly discriminatory to not be granted everyone elses rights on top of their own.

They have full access to the rights that correlate with their biological sex. And rights which prevent then from being abused, fired, mistreated for their gender reassignment status. Womens' rights belong to biological.women only. The same way I cant access rights afforded to those who are disabled because I'm not. And someone who isn't pregnant will not be granted maternity rights until she is.

PronounssheRa · 16/08/2020 18:15

then you use that faulty biology to define people

Sorry I'm still not following.

MadamBatty · 16/08/2020 18:13

nope Gottalife, still have no clue what argument that you are making in relation to people with Downs.

SandwichDistraction · 16/08/2020 18:09

I would love to know which other South East force has issues with this. I work for one and whilst I don’t post anything remotely GC in my private life (because of my job), I would definitely raise it at work.

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 18:08

Biology should not be used to discriminate ....utterly true. But sadly, we are many centuries away from that world

Women's rights are rights granted to women to level the playing field because women are routinely discriminated against.

Because females are physically vulnerable, they are often excluded from public life unless facilities are made available for them. Because they are typically excluded in any design process medicine often fails to treat them as well as men, they die more easily in car crashes . Women experience the same discrimination independent of their gender identity, based purely in their sex.

Biology should not be used to discriminate, but whilst it is, women need support.

It is not discrimination against men that they should not use the ladies loos, because they get Male loos.
It is discrimination to suggest that those loos should be used by anyone who feels like a women, as that excludes women. It is not discrimination to say that only women get pregnant. That's necessary for sex education, It is not discrimination to describe the heart attack symptoms for women as distinct from those of men Biology needs to be recognised and catered for without discrimination.

Ie exactly the opposite of the transgender position that biology should be hidden as hurtful

Gosh isn't that a threatening statement? I feel like a women.
