The TRAs say they are working for trans people, but they aren't at all. They have made things infinitely worse.

They are working for some trans people - the late transitioning males. They are making things much worse for children, who are just human shields in their quest for validation.

Sexnotgender · 14/08/2020 13:07

And a human I guess😂

@SnuggyBuggy

Loads of girls and women don't wear dresses or pink or form fitting clothing. It isn't a required part of being female.
Absolutely. I’m currently wearing jeans, boots and a hoody. I’m 100% a woman though. There’s no criteria for being a woman other than being an adult female.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 14/08/2020 12:57

But there are clothes that are traditionally seen as women's or men's clothing - she doesn't wear dresses - even for swimwear wears boys swimming shorts not costumes.

It's not sexist - I wear trousers and jeans but not men's - although I would if it were more comfortable or made me better.

This little girl - wants to dress this way. So she will be seen as a tomboy

Children's clothes are just that, children's clothes. Boys and girls are the same shape, men and women are not. By using words like 'boys clothes' and 'tomboy' you are inadvertently being sexist.

Perpetuating the notion that dresses are for girls and trousers are for boys, and a girl acting without these guidelines is a 'tomboy' is part of the problem.

does seem that the TRAs who campaigned and persuaded the WHO to reclassify transgender from being a MH condition have made it actually impossible for children to have any mental health treatment at all and affirmation is the only possible route to take - either that or be left with no help.

This is exactly what has happened. Before the tras involvement things were difficult, but not impossible. This should be a difficult path imo, the people who really want/need this will stick it out, the others won't bother. Mental health treatment was readily available, now people are horrified of the suggestion of this being a mental health problem.

Late transitioning males need a supply of 'trans kids' to support their claims that they have 'always' felt this way (despite only transitioning in their 40s, 50s or 60s often after decades in a heterosexual marriage and fathering children).

There is no evidence that they actually care about the children they are harming by recruiting them for validation purposes.

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult

We have an 8 year old girl that dresses as a boy in our school. She is known as a she - my DC just say she is a tomboy. She also keeps her girl name.

She does wear all boy clothes including boy uniform (shorts not skirts). Her parents don't talk about it - why should they? Other closer friends say she is a girl just likes boys things/clothes. Most of her friends are girls not boys.

This is such an unhealthy attitude. This girl dresses in her clothes, not boys clothes. I have a 5yo who sounds very similar to this girl, and children who call her a tomboy or ask why she is wearing 'boy clothes' generally come from very sexist parents.

I also have an older child who is transgender.

My child has been trans for coming on for a decade now, so before being trans is what it is now.

Back then it was difficult, there was mental health help available, although I had to fight for my child to have access to separate facilities to change and go to the toilet, they were made available eventually.

Now there is practically no help available unless you go down the medicalised route. They literally withhold mental health help, because it isn't seen as a mental health issue anymore.

2 appointments in have them offering these drugs.

As a parent who's child was self harming, suicidal and depressed I can 100% understand the parents who take the medicalised route to access further help.

We get told blockers are just thinking time for your child. Who wouldn't take that option with a severely depressed child and doctors touting this as a cure for their depression?

I have done a lot of research on all the treatments, operations, hormones and read everything from those who were totally happy with surgery to detransitioners, and decided not to go down the medicalised route for my child, although now they are an adult they are exploring this for themselves and it's very likely this is what they will do.

I really don't blame a lot of parents for going down this route for their child though. It's the doctors that need to be looked at for being so persistent in offering this as an option with no alternatives.

It should be a difficult process to go through imo, making things 'easier' really hasn't made things easier at all. It has just delayed the issues, made the physical issues easier in the short term, but heartbreakingly permanent for the long term.

Despite it being removed as a memtal health condition and apparently the end goal of full transition meaning that it's over its done with and they will love happily ever after and their dysphoria is gone, I have noticed with ( and in some cases I dont think its meant as anything other than being supportive and helpful and a genuine show of how much they care about a person ) many of the younger ones who have been through the blocker and hornone route over the last few years, and have gone as far as they want to, now seem to throw themselves into fundraising etc for their trans friends. So many crowdfunders etc so it really doesn't stop doesn it they just re live it all through someone else.

So are they as happy as everyone claims because they cant let go of it all. They have to get overly involved in the transition of others.

sqirrelfriends · 14/08/2020 11:09

7!!! I really feel for him, he's been badly failed by those responsible.

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties difficult. This may well have been pointed out before but my brain has only just made this connection!

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:50

@ BaronEssoStation 😂 honestly I only have a single piece of whole meal toast with a scrape of soya margarine... (when they mean a washing up bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes with sugar and carnation milk).

Winesalot · 14/08/2020 10:47

I find that this very disturbing that this is one effect of moving it from being a mental health issue. The 'conversion therapy' side of it is also very disturbing.... in that clinicians are now not allowed to discover underlying issues that might be causal to treat these to see if it alleviates GD. What a mess.

DifficultPifcult What a lot of hard choices for you and your family. I hope that what ever happens, your kids will be happy.

I wore shorts to school, I also wore a uniform dress occasionally. I cannot understand why it is implied that girls are transboys for choosing to wear shorts if that is an option within the school policy. it is so very regressive.

BaronEssoStation · 14/08/2020 10:46

@SerenityNowwwww

Haha autocorrect knows me well (cereal lier)

Ah!

(Those bastards that claim they've had a healthy breakfast but we know damn well it's Cap'n Crunch.)

Roswellconspiracy · 14/08/2020 10:45

Maybe we need safguarding training and deprogramming for companies particularly marketing teams to be compulsory.

Or behaviour agreements signed and adhered to

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:37

They did dabble with BLM but I guess it wasn’t attractive enough for them.

Roswellconspiracy · 14/08/2020 10:36

The only was this will stop is when the big law forms and consultancies find a shiny new horse to back

And whats the betting this shiny new horse will be something else that's damaginh or harmful or only benefits a very small froup of people at the expense of everyone else.

We need people held properly accountable for completely flouting the law and for their treatment of everyone that raised concerns etc

And for being complicit in everything that happened.

NotBadConsidering · 14/08/2020 10:34

I would be interested to see if any of the parents - usually fathers - who have been shut out of decision making regarding children and hormone treatments, appeal those legal decisions in light of the significant retraction of the findings of the article in the American Journal of Psychiatry. I

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:31

The only was this will stop is when the big law forms and consultancies find a shiny new horse to back. The nonsense I see in these businesses in supporting this hook like and sinker - and of course it’s all about their bottom line.

I almost threw my laptop out of the window when I saw a social media post from one such international organisation thanking the Ts for starting the stonewall riots.

Roswellconspiracy · 14/08/2020 10:28

when enough people sue, it will stop

I actually don't think It will. If they allowed themselves once to be "trained" by lobby groups and activists then it will happen again. Until anywhere wakes up and realises that decisions need to be based on science/facts/reality not who can make the most noise on twitter then it will all happen all over again

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:22

Sadly not - how many things like this do we need to see happen?

Plus all the social damage that will have been done (agenda in schools, workplaces, local councils...). It’s changing society for worse - less accepting, less inclusive, more violent, more misogynistic, more homophobic... who benwfits?

Money.....when enough people sue, it will stop

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:18

Sadly we will never learn. It’s those who benefit who need to be sued - check out big pharma.

Roswellconspiracy · 14/08/2020 10:12

I'm hoping to see lots of people being sued. Bring it on

In a way I don't want to see that either but thats becuase i also have no doubt that people will take advantage of that too . Entire firms dedicated to milking money from the victims. Or organisations thinking that they can just pay them off.

I would prefer to see acknowledgement they fucked up and have ruined lives and proper help and support funded and set up.
