I never saw what she posted apart from the forced apology - was it just that? It's all much too reminiscent of the cultural revolution tactic of putting a stool in the middle of the circle and having everyone pile in with criticism. You'd say anything if you feared you'd be next on the stool.

Poor woman. I agree she is probably just trying to hang on to her job. It's craven, but it's also human.

Shes fairly heavily critical of twitter on Instagram and I also think she's just fed up of being bullied and I think understandably wants to protect her job.
I often wonder whether the bullying pile ons really truly work. Yes there might be the public apology to save face in front of future employers but in private I know I'd be even more likely to dig in to my original opinion.

This smacks of the cultural revolution in China. Some years ago I began to be allergic to some of the vocabulary the extreme wokerati use, and then I thought about the reason for that: It is very authoritarian and very black-and-white, you will be sent to re-education camps, and any research you do can only lead you to crawling back on your knees once your brain has been properly washed.

I have seen similar incidents on Twitter many times. The abject crawling and apologies are usually not enough, though. Perhaps because those who play this game get great enjoyment from the sadism which they can pursue while coming across as virtuous.

They must have made the same offer to AA. This endorsement was probably a requirement for a pass grade.

I think it's a bit of a weird tweet, really. She's already "profoundly apologised" and not tweeted anything on any other subject. Then suddenly she retweets something from GLAAD - well, I've never heard of them - and no other tweets.

She's in an awful position, as she needs to work, and has received some horrible abuse to boot. I feel quite sad about it all.

Also, I think this sort of thing - where a woman tentatively makes some mildly GC or simple pro-science remarks, then gets a pile on until she grovels for forgiveness. Well, it's quite illuminating isn't it. It's not as if the misogyny isn't blatant. Shutting down women who have opinions of their own? Scaring them with threats? Demanding penance? Not a good look really.

Well, it's also smart. She hasn't done a fulsome thread apology in her own words, therefore she hasn't left herself open to the scrutiny of her words for signs of reluctance or heresy. She's just done emojis. And she's 'amplified' the voice of an approved source, saying approved things.

Tbh, if her aim was to deflect the mob and give herself some space from the pitchforks, I think it's probably the canniest move she could have made.

I agree, if she has changed her mind or is worried about getting work, she should do a mea culpa in her own words instead of retweeting shite from Glaad that accuses JKR of spreading conspiracy theories about kids. That's just pathetic and completely unnecessary.

Exactly. If she'd just done the classic TWAW apology then fine - I can understand she needs to prioritise her reputation, her mental health and her career. But to go for JKR? And about the trans kids thing? I mean come on.

As of the only informed opinion is that woman is a feeling and if you don't think that you're ignorant or stupid - it couldn't possibly be that you just hold a different opinion.
