Googled, but all I found is the article from the Sunday Times in 2017, reporting on Mermaids being forbidden from contacting a child.

Also note Mermaids had apparently been advertising 'same day' cross sex hormone treatment. Wow.

Ooh. Signing in for the reveal :-)

Deadringer · 08/08/2020 21:25

The John Boyne stuff is crazy. I suppose he shouldn't have written about WW2 Germany because he wasn't there. And he can't have any females in his books at all, or straight people, as he can't write from their perspective. Nonsense. Synchronize watches for midnight.⌚

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 08/08/2020 21:23

Ooh I hope it's good news. I doubt I can stay up until midnight as I have to be up at 6.30am to take DD1 to work. Might come home via the newsagents though.

TehBewilderness · 08/08/2020 21:02

That's 4pm for me so no problem.

StandUpStraight · 08/08/2020 20:59

Ah, thanks carol. I was wondering whether it might be Abigail Shrier.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 08/08/2020 20:37

Midnight, eh? I have quite a lot of a bottle of win sitting here. [settling in].

CarolEffingBaskin · 08/08/2020 20:36

Well this happened www.irishpost.com/news/transgender-activists-call-boycott-irish-author-john-boyne-offensive-new-book-166003

Then there was Comerford’s grovelling after some clear legal wrangling over it - www.thetimes.co.uk/article/battle-of-the-boyne-ends-with-novelist-thankful-for-aidan-comerford-apology-hc95lvzsc

The fair cop tweet mentions an author that isn’t JK. Just joining some dots and speculating. Is it midnight yet? Grin

StandUpStraight · 08/08/2020 20:33

Carol John Boyne the author? What did I miss?

highame · 08/08/2020 20:31

Serenity have you been Yoda'd

Taunting is they are! I wonder what it can be!!

CarolEffingBaskin · 08/08/2020 20:22

Might this relate to John Boyne perhaps? 🤔

DialSquare · 08/08/2020 20:18

@Redshoeblueshoe

That's a very big bag of popcorn Dial, unless you actually live in a doll's house Here I have 🍷
It's because my sofa is far away!

I ordered a cinema food package online with tortilla chips, crisps, dips, candy floss and popcorn. Didn't realise how big all the bags were, however, I can confirm that the popcorn was by far the biggest!

NonnyMouse1337 · 08/08/2020 20:18

Oh god, the next 4 hours are going to be agonising. This had better be good!

Sexnotgender · 08/08/2020 20:14

I’m so excited... bring it on.

StandUpStraight · 08/08/2020 20:11

Damn. I’m going to have to stay up till midnight again. Actually, should not be too difficult in this heat.

DialSquare · 08/08/2020 19:59

That's my big bag of popcorn while I'm waiting!

DialSquare · 08/08/2020 19:59

I might have to stay up too. Was wondering about this yesterday.

It was Justice Knowles who ruled in favour of Harry BUT didn’t go all the way on the hate crime thing

But I don’t think it would be that (mermaids weren’t involved)

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 08/08/2020 19:54

Oh I am so staying up til midnight now!

ThinkWittyThoughts · 08/08/2020 19:51

Hmm. Can I be arsed to stay up til midnight? Or shall I just dream sweetly and find out in the morning...
