@FloralBunting

Tinsel if you fancy a laugh and have literally nothing else to do, you could while away ten minutes reading the Answers In Genesis website, which is full of straight-faced creationist explanations for little conundrums like that.
Does it say who shovelled all the shit?

If penguins count as a clean animal then Noah should have had seven breeding pairs. It’s only unclean animals that were limited to one pair.
Genesis 7, 2-3.
Those toy manufacturers and educational cartoon makers were saving money on the other 12 animals.

@EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus

They would if the seals were on board.

That’s the other thing I was thinking about. Did they take ready-killed food for the carnivores / pescatarians? Or were some of the animals told they were being saved, but actually there to be eaten? And that lie would NEVER have worked on the fish.

I can imagine the wildebeest, for example were suspicious when 20 of them were allowed on board.
DianasLasso · 25/07/2020 23:36

This (barring the fact that they unnaccountably don't use the King James version) has to be the definitive approachable version of the Bible.
www.thebricktestament.com/

It is particularly good for Leviticus.

FloralBunting · 25/07/2020 23:36

I now have an image of a hardcore swimmer penguin. He's a bit like Dwayne Johnson in build, big shoulders, and obviously now I've said that, he's folding his flippers and cocking his eyebrow.

TinselAngel · 25/07/2020 23:34

@ErrolTheDragon

They wouldn't have wanted to be left out.

I'm not a biblical expert (you'll be surprised to hear) but I wonder if Noah and his family (sons: Ham, Shem and Japheth I recall from Sunday school) had to spend a lots of time stopping the animals from eating each other or if God took care of that?

@ErrolTheDragon

Maybe the penguins just hung out on icebergs until the floods receded?
Waiting to be picked up.

“OK, we need representatives on this ark. Betty & Fred, you go & we’ll all wave as it goes past.”

TinselAngel · 25/07/2020 23:24

@EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus

Penguins are pretty hardcore swimmers aren’t they? You’d think they’d have had a fair chance of surviving the flood without having to go all the way to the ark.

Swam? I keep saying that in my head and it sounds weird now!

TinselAngel · 25/07/2020 23:16

@DialSquare

*Tinsel * Ah. That would explain the flat feet!
Mind you TBF they could have swam some of the way. (Swum? Swimmed? Bloody peri menopause)

I need a penguin version!
There were a couple in the ark weren't there? Had to walk all the way from Antarctica, poor buggers.
DialSquare · 25/07/2020 23:11

In fact, even Penguin (should have use the capital P originally!) is too advanced. Scrimpshaw has got it right with Ladybird!

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 25/07/2020 23:10

I like the Apocrypha. I think it only appears in Catholic bibles but it has dragons & stuff.

I also like the idea of a bible with penguins.

DialSquare · 25/07/2020 23:07

Well if it's got a whale in it, I can't see why penguins should be excluded.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 25/07/2020 23:07

I'd go for the Ladybird version, tbh.

FloralBunting · 25/07/2020 23:05

I misunderstood and wondered how penguins would make a difference to a bible version. But now I understand, and feel foolish.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 25/07/2020 23:05

Joseph ... who supposedly wasn't Jesus's actual father anyway.

I SAID NO SPOILERS!!!
